I live in East Scotland and am researching/working on this technology with a large team of people from three universities and the Aberdeen oil industry. This is a good publicity video.
I don't care whether they will be rich or not. Have they done studies on the effect of having loads of these in the water? How will it affect the coastline? How will it affect the breeding or feeding patterns of animals? There is much more to it than our own gratification.
they're just like giant buoys in the water. why would this affect breeding patterns. and how is it affecting the coast line it's out in the water. this is a good alternative energy idea.
It's an amazing invention but of course there are pros & cons about this but I believe Those scientists are intelligent enough to solve it. Good luck :)
Even if we do get wave energy, it won't be able to power our automobiles! Unless, we flood the planet and ride wave powered jet-skis everywhere, damn that would be cool.
Re: Environmental Impact: What's more important human life and progress or animal life? If you think animal life, then just kill yourself because that's the best, fastest way to help the animals of the world. And I love animals, by the way, but I know that "Human needs outweight animal needs."
The smallpox virus & humans cannot coexist happily. Try being happy with a bear when it's hunting you. Animals aren't selfish? Seems to me all organisms pursue their own selfish interests to promote their survival. Destroy everything we touch? Ever seen a Michelangelo sculpture? You'd prefer it was just a big rock? I don't think you actually believe these things because everyday you have the chance to avoid the creations of humanity, yet here you are checking your YouTube account.
you have completely missed my point. I was saying that animals and humans can co-exist. I know everyone is fighting to survive. And i am not saying we should reject human advancement. But we are destroying our world not just for animals but for ourselves as well. In a few generations our world is going to be basically dead.
and also, we, humans are at the top of the 'foodchain' we have responsibilty. We have power. And yet we are abusing it. We should take only what we need and protect everything else. So many animals are becoming endangered and instinct because we have created a world only we can live in, and in fact we won't be able to live in it much longer.
Personally I don't think Michelangelo is all that great. I prefer rocks sculpted by wind and water that take thousands of years to make. There is nothing wrong with living responsibly. Change our sources of power and quit acting like the Earth is here for our convenience. It is home for more than just us.
go away i don't like you. I was trying to make a joke and end this silly discussion. There is no need to call names. You obviously care about the environment otherwise are you subbed to nationalgeographic and why do you keep commenting on this vid?
So no TV or internet gaming on a calm day lol. Guess thats the day to read a book. Argh...no lights. Cant read at night. Oh well......time to make love with the wife :)
because we americans are to lazy todo anything productive with our time and would rather chug beer ;)
thats why we dropped a bomb on japan... not because we wanted to test the bomb... but all the soliders agreed they rather drink beer then go do their job.

So if they used the Gulf Stream for power and messed up the course of it you guys in Northern Europe would be fucked right? Pardon my language.

Put it this way. The Titanic was 41deg North when she hit that iceberg. Off Norway you won't see an iceberg even at 68deg North.

they said 100 of those for a small city, think about how it would look like off the coast of new york or los angelas.
But as long as we can get enough to get 121 jigawatts into the flux capacitor i guess well be ok.

This would not only generate power but also reduce the impact of waves on shore just a little.
And they don't pollute.
