  • thats why i bought both chinooks on his say so and there fantastic

  • try nightflyers vid on the syma better detail better heli or check out my vids thanks for the reply :)

  • @xxkil Nightflyer is the best! Regarding Syma, they're kind of hit and miss. Some of their products are truly worthless, and others are pretty good, due to the fact that Syma sells stuff from various manufacturers. I would only buy a Syma if Nightflyer gave it a good review, 'cause I trust his opinions.

  • @FormerlyFlightsuit I agree 100% Nightflyer is the best and nice tutorial

  • @SuperAirsoft09 Thanks! I'm not sure if these Air Hogs Chinooks are even still available.

  • @FormerlyFlightsuit no they dont but i dont mess around with micro stuff i am more a 4 channel airplane guy

  • biggest load of shite on the market i had one the front motor burns out after about two weeks

  • @xxkil Two weeks is within most store's return periods. Hopefully you returned it and got a refund? I've had mine for over two years and it's still going strong.

  • Very useful piece of info..... if you failed to read the instruction booklet :P

  • @toffeeroffles As previously stated, this information was not in the instruction booklet when this heli was originally released. It's actually interesting to me that this video still gets any views, 'cause I haven't seen a Twin Thunder in a store in quite a while. Is Spinmaster even still making them?

  • Airhogs is shit

  • @percyjacksonseries1 Um....

    Thanks for sharing?

  • Air hogs is shit

  • in the long term a blade mcx or msr is less costlly than airhogs cause they last 100 times longer and in that time you would be crashing and buying new airhogs products...yet another reason wh y airhogs sucks

  • @ramicaza You're comparing apples and oranges. The Blade MCX is a hobby grade helicopter with four-channel controls that costs more and has a steeper learning curve. The Twin Thunder is a toy that anybody can pick up at Target or Toys R Us and start flying almost immediately.

  • Why coulent get off the ground

  • The problem was that at first, I was being a little too gentle with the throttle. That's normally a good idea with real hobby-grade RC helicopters, 'cause you want to gradually ease into a controllable hover before you start trying to move around. In this case, however, you need to start off with a little extra oomph in order to get properly launched.

  • WOW! Thanks for the cool mod! A little pry-driving, and there it is! All changes completely reversible if stock is preferred, a win win!

  • Hey, my pleasure! Thanks for commenting!

  • dumb asss you havent configure it... you havent have a stable flight... let me show you how stable your rc is...

  • katies20, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Air hogs are wal-mart junk rc toys no matter how you mod'em!!!! save the money and get a blade mxc or one like it if you gotta have a micro... Show me a air hogs thats not trash I'll show you the date of Armageddon.....cause nether one are do'able

  • That's a strange perspective. When it comes to consumer-toy grade RC aircraft, Air Hogs has a great reputation for consistent quality control and designs that work well. Yes, a Blade MCX is much better, but it's also pricier and more complex.

  • @DJMerck check out Air Hogs SharpShooter!!

    dumbass!!

  • The hell is going on? Why are the mainblade shafts bent?

  • If you're asking why they're at different angles to each-other, that is an intentional, and necessary design feature.

  • That's what I thought, but I don't understand how it prevents the heli from spinning?

  • I don't understand the physics of it either. You'd think that with two sets of tandem rotors, it wouldn't be necessary, but I guess it is. If you're really curious about this, I'd suggest asking this question in the "Multi-rotor heli" or "Micro RTF" forum over at RCGroups d0t c0m. I know I've seen them address this question in the past, but I just can't recall what the answer was. Anyway, they're an enormously knowledgeable bunch of people.

  • i think that was nice help but in the comments you look like your parents used your birth certifacate as an apology letter to the condom factory

  • Well that's a really rude thing to say. Would you care to explain why you said it?

  • mines totally beat up because i suck at flying. i hope it doesnt mess up the performance

  • Maybe you're just trying to fly it in an area that's too small? My garage isn't big enough, which is why I fly mine in the post office lobby when they're closed! Anyway, if yours is too beat up, it may interest you to know that Target is still selling these for just $30 on their site! Heck of a good deal!

  • i guess but its also the types of hits i have. one time i got too close to a ceiling fan(it was off) and the props hit the chain. then the heli flew across the room and hit the edge of a side table at like 20 mph(well pretty fast anyway) and now theres a big dent on that hump in front of the right rear wheel. its my first helicopter so i abuse it learning to fly but i'm crashing alot less

  • Damn. I find it helps to use the trim controls to dial back the forward flight as much as possible so the thing's not going too fast.

  • yea i do that but some times i'll be flying forward and start circling and then i can't stop it without crashing

  • lol, dont worry, mine, is all dinged up because of the rotor clipping it. sucks when its just styrofoam

  • Foam is good. I've had RC aircraft with non-foam bodies, and those tend to break very easily, 'cause they don't gently deform the way foam does.

  • yea i was just sayin, its dented where the rotors clip it lol

  • Dented where the rotors clip to it? I'm not sure I can even picture what you mean. Hmmm....

  • My point exactly. "I would spend every dime on rc helicopters and hookers." cuz u HAV NO LIFE.

  • Actually, if you were my kid, I think I'd sell you to a traveling circus.

  • Seriously ur prolly just some geek who plays with toy helicopters all ur life and live in ur parents basement. U have no life. I am 10 at least I got a reason to play with toy helicopters.

  • If you were my kid, you wouldn't have any time for playing, 'cause you'd be working in a factory twelve hours a day and I would spend every dime of your paycheck on RC helicopters and hookers.

  • LOL

  • Thankew, thankew!

  • Whatever you say.....

  • Well hohoho haven't we found something out? To save yourself 6 minutes I'm going to say take 2 seconds to skim the instructions. Oooooo what a concept. Had you done that you would have seen that airhogs did in fact add the plastic piece to disable backward flight. And no shit it's easy to pry off. THEY MADE IT THAT WAY FOR A REASON

  • When I bought mine, there was absolutely no mention in the instruction manual of the control modification demonstrated in this video. I'm sure many Twin Thunder owners can confirm this. Furthermore, since so many other commenters have specifically thanked me for informing them of this mod, it was clearly not a waste of their time.

  • Wow thanks you rock! I thought about this too!

  • Thank you! I am amazed to see that these little beauties are still $30 on Target's site!

  • get a life! seriously!! :p

  • "Get a life?"

This from somebody who's watching and commenting on YouTube videos? I hate to tell you this, but the mere fact that you've even seen one of my videos may be a warning sign that you also are not living life to its richest, fullest potential.

    ;-)

  • how much is one of these

  • Normally $60 to $75, but if you order one from Target's Web site right now, they're on sale for $30. Act fast, though, 'cause I don't expect that price to last.

  • i mean helicopter

  • Hey, thanks for commenting! Glad to hear you're having fun with it!

  • wow great find i was looking for controll mods to keep the throttle stick in place and i found this, that's awesome. i got mine out of the box this morning and i can fly it in a tiny room right now. really easy to fly good cheap plane

  • I bougt a twin thunder and didnt know anything about flying rc copters I got the hang of it pretty quick and its fun but its definitelly indoors bought a havoc and it was a pain in the ass the twin thunder is definatlly the way to ngo if you dont want to spend to much time figuring this out

  • Well yeah, anything with infra-red controls, as opposed to true radio-control is going to be indoors-only. These Twin Thunders are a lot easier to control than Havoc Helis, that's for sure.

  • why r u flyin it at a post office?

  • Because these helis are designed only for indoors flight, yet they require a lot of room. Therefore, most of my house is out of the question. I could fly in my garage, but it's kinda messy, and doesn't look so good on video. The post office, meanwhile, they leave their outer lobby area unlocked 24 hours a day, so I just go in there and fly when they're not open for business. I get all the room I need for indoors flying, and I don't bother anyone, 'cause there are no customers!

  • because he feels like flying in a post office

  • But at least on the silverlit site where I downloaded the manual, and there it says what you show us? I live in Norway and It's name is Tandem-Z, not Twin Thunder. Is it the same thing like PicooZ and the Havoc Heli? I don't have the helicopter yet, but I've read the manual.

  • Yeah, the Tandem Z and Twin Thunder are essentially the same product, but with different paint jobs, and if you read the comment that Kalmathegratebassist posted above, you'll see that there's a slight difference with the controller's removable ring. Have fun flying that thing!

  • Thank you! It's gonna be lots of fun!

  • I hope so! If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest checking out the message boards at RCGroups d0t c0m. I just mentioned in my comments on one of those other videos that I hang out there a lot. Check the "Micro RTF" and "Multi-rotor Heli" forums, and you'll get lots of useful info on how best to enjoy the Tandem Z, and how to solve any problems you might encounter...

  • I will.

  • It isn't Almost like they designed it. That is the point!

  • True, but as has already been pointed out, there's no mention of this in the Twin Thunder's instruction manual; owners are left to discover this undocumented feature on their own or hear of it through word-of-mouth.

  • part pooper

  • What?

  • you r writ you can go backward if u trim it properly i think this guy just cant fly good p.s if you dont trim it u can pull lever all the way back to act like a break check out my vids

  • sorry dude i have the picooz z1 tandem wich is pretty much the same and its all in the booklet about taking of tht litle ring so u can move ur stick to all sides....

  • Nothing to be sorry about. It's interesting that Silverlit includes that information, whereas Spin Master does not. I wonder if it was intentional, or something they merely overlooked?

  • lol i think the made a litle mistake yes :P but air hogs and picooz do they come from the same factory?? couse like nearly evreything on the tandem is the same except for the collors and the litle ring on the z1 tandem has 3 slots 1 forward 1 left 1 right on urs its just one big hole

  • The PicooZ and Tandem Z1 are both made by a Chinese company called Silverlit, and sold under license by Spin Master as the Air Hogs Havoc Heli and Twin Thunder. I'm not certain they're all assembled by the same factory, but they are essentially the same products with different packaging. Interesting, that detail about the slots on the Tandem's controller...

  • Thank you! I'm glad to be of service!

  • i swear to go people u make up the stupidest things ever same u break it simple as that its just the baterries recharge it from the control or if it dones charge its the baterys in the control it hapened to me the front rotor was spining faster than the rear rotor

  • Thanks man I just got done doing it to my controler and its charging now! Thank you For the awesome idea.

  • very interesting. you can also just adjust the trim full reverse and use forward pressure on the controller and make it do the same thing with out pulling anything off. however i like that the stick moves all the way down now.

  • men .. i like this color and EthanJM you have a mechanical problem with the rear rotor .. i fixed mine very simple ... slam into a thing with the rear rotor (yes its troe is not a joke) .. and if it doesn't work try to set you're right trim maximum to the right .. this should work .. hope you got you're problem fixed ....

  • That is what stefanpspman said, so I just gently hold it upside down and slam the top of the rear rotor?

  • I wouldn't recommend doing so, and I'm sure if you called Spinmaster for technical support, they'd agree with me on this.

  • I am having trouble trimming mine, no matter what I try it moves forward, what am I doing wrong?

  • maybe isn't a trim problem here .. is a mechanical problem .. say if your rear rotor moves slowly and your front rotor is moving faster .. this is a comun problem .. what do to .. jus slam (not so much!!) you helly with the rear rotor into something (not in a wall or something like that and try not to slam it to much ) .. on my tandem worked perfect and now my rear rotor speans normal .. yeah you can repair this to by disansembly the hole hely .. but my advice is this .. hope you got fixed

  • Thanks, I am letting it charge, if it works I will get back with you.

  • Yeah, I got one for x mas too. Broke the rear stabiliser prop but repaired it with super glue and a bit off a rizla packet. The mod is obvious, they designed it so the control stick 360's. I'm pretty good at flying it now but you get me some one who can fly it backwards and i'll take my hat off to em!

  • (Note: My last comment was a reply to ps2ohilc's question. Not shure why it's at the top)

  • Nice copter. The twin hovers really nice. When descending rapidly, the twin rotors seem to oscillate (fight with each other?) and the copter looses control. You can actually hear a rough rumbling sound coming from the rotors while the thing gyrates back and forth on its downward gyration. Removing the front plastic flying aid seems to unbalance the thing and make worse the descent issue. My kids have three of the various Air Hogs copters and enjoy them all.

  • Formerlyflightsuit,I got a Twin Thunder for Christmas and yes it was Red. Its COOL! :D

  • I tried it on mine and your right, it popped right off using my finger. Thanks!!

  • hey i have the same one you have but i need flying lessons

  • why are the blades slanted

  • So it can steer. The front roter not only spins like a fan, but it can also tilt side to side, allowing you to steer. When you tilt it left, it blows air right, turning the copter. When you tilt it right, the blades go horizontal, making the back roter do the turning.(it's fixed at an angle.)

  • I used to fly a Havoc Stinger, but then I heard it make noises that it wasn't supposed to make.

(sounds like popping). So I never flew it again.

:C I have 2 Havoc Heli's(1 Red and 1 Camouflage). They still work good.

  • Very Good vid M8!!! Now I know what to do with a Twin Thunder. I am also getting one soon.(for Christmas). And i'm Probably gonna get a red one.

  • Glad to hear it! Wanna save Santa Claus a ton of money? Tell him to order your heli from ThinkGeek's Web site, 'cause they've still got 'em on sale for $29.99, vs. the $59.99 to $74.99 you'd pay anywhere else. They're listed under the name 'Tandem Z Chinook 3-Channel R/C Copter,' as they're coming directly from Silverlit, without being re-branded and packaged as Air Hogs, but rest assured you're getting the same, exact heli, only with one of three different paint jobs. Red is still an option.

  • Hey, my pleasure!

  • thanks for the tip! im gonna try it on mine...

  • l o l it even dont fly

  • ok how do i stop the spin mine keeps flipping on its side??????

  • i gues i fust got the wrong attitude toward rc helis after my expirience with the hoverlites crap,...i will try more helis with direction control.

  • I'm amazed they even have the nerve to sell those things. If you're inclined to try another heli, Radio Shack's currently discounting their Micro Mosquito 3.0, probably because the Micro Mosquito 4X4 just came out. Either of those should be really smooth and easy to control. Also, If you shop around, you can get an Esky Lama V4 for under a hundred bucks, but just don't try flying one outdoors on a windy day.

  • i think right now its way outta the way to buy a new rc product any time soon i am broke as hell,....the story of my life lol.

  • Well on the bright side, half of the RC aircraft out there generally turn out to be lame enough that I wind up wishing I hadn't spent the money in the first place.

  • i know i got the air hogs havoc heli and its a piece of shit you cant make a helicopter out of stirohpome!

  • Sorry to hear the Havoc Heli wasn't to your liking. As to this issue of styrofoam, if you look around, you'll see that the majority of affordable, ready-to-fly RC aircraft have foam fuselages, as do some of the high-end, hobby-grade models. Why? 'Cause foam weighs very little, and -when involved in a crash- it tends to bend or gently deform, as opposed to breaking.

  • ya i agree but to me its a little cheap you know good video though

  • its kinda retarded that the rotors arent flat

cause its just gonna spin no matter what you do

  • I'm afraid my video may have given you the wrong idea. I left in those numerous false starts and aborted launches mainly for their comedic value.

All that spinning around on the ground is partly due to my flying style, 'cause I tend to be very cautious about making sure a heli's properly trimmed before I leave the safety of Terra Firma.

  • If you just get on the Twin Thunder's throttle and launch without hesitation, you can always use the trim control and the right stick to correct for any excessive rotation; Once airborne, the heli is less vulnerable to the subtleties of pitch and yaw which cause it to spin out and tip over on the ground.

Check out the other Twin Thunder clip that I recently uploaded, and you'll see that it does fly quite nicely.

  • Granted, one thing it shares with the Havoc Heli/PicooZ is a tendency to always be subtly turning in one direction or the other, regardless of whether you've commanded a turn input. So, as with any aircraft, you're flying off-course 90% of the time, and it's your frequent corrections that get you where you're going.

  • With the Havoc Heli, turning left (counter-clockwise) always causes the chopper to decelerate, while turning right -rotating clockwise- causes it to accelerate. This may seem kinda weird at first, but it's just something you get used to.

To the its credit, meanwhile, this is one characteristic the Twin Thunder does not have in common with the Havoc Heli.
