Hace treinta y tanto años que escuche esta cancion por primera vez, la he escuchado cientos de veces y cada vez que la escucho me gusta mas. Increible !!!!
Yes in deed, Jeff Lynne is that what you might call a Godfather of good music! Most people talking about Jeff Lynne and ELO do not know that he familiar with musicans like George Harrison, Eric Clapton or producers like Phil Spector. He is in charge of a huge amount of everlasting hits. Time will judge ELO to be a prodigy of further generations of good musicans. ELO, ELP, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd will remain and influence humanaties tradition of music itself...
ELO is great, but there is FANTASTIC music still being made today. if you dont agree then im sorry your stuck living in the past. do you all have olive green shag carpet in your houses?
@williamgatesenson If fashioning my apartment with olive green shag carpet were to fuel the destruction of the vast wasteland that is befitting of the 'music' of today, well, sir, I call shotgun on the time-travel brigade.
Olive green shag carpet, 8-tracks, and pet rocks for all...
You are sooooo right - there aren't an groups like ELO today! The music scene has become a massive wasteland of auto-tuned cRap. Occasionally, a talented individual and/or group will appear; but, they don't last long. I long for the day when today's tripe will be swept aside for some new talent.
I LOVE THIS SONG!.....want to know some gossip on ELO they dare not print in the magazines?.....go to "eleanor rigby nzoz1971" and read my 3 comments. regards.
This is my favorite ELO song.A lil b 4 my time.I was born in 1970 but i really enjoyed this band.I was just a lil kid but when i got older i reconized a damn good band. Please keep playin ELO.They will never die in my heart & soul!!!!!!
Brings back lots of good memories. Real musicial talent, no auto tune, backing tracks, just sound musical ability with classical training. The era of horn bands and orchestra accompaniment...love it!
@DA90027 - It would be nice if they'd tour the USA again, even smaller venues. But it wouldn't be the same with just Jeff and Richard Tandy from the original group, and no string section. I live in the Twin Cities and they haven't been here since the 1980's - their 2001 Zoom Tour would have taken them back here.
@fetishisticrose - John Lennon said in the mid-70's that if you wanted to hear a continuation of what the Beatles did, especially in "I Am the Walrus", that ELO was the group to hear. (Or something very close to that.)
@Azanti - That is an amazing show of support for ELO by John Lennon. Elsewhere on YouTube they have John Lennon introducing "Showdown" on his radio show. He thought it was a great song.
If still alive, I think Lennon would have been appalled that Jeff Lynne and/or ELO isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
i saw them in concert auckland 1979,forgot my ticket, having realized at the gates.considered turning back to get it ,only one mile away but the que was huge so bought another.well worth it .
@TheMartinrt -- You saw a concert from their "Discovery" tour! Very cool. I wish I had seen their "Out of the Blue" tour, but just saw one concert from them during the 1981 "Time" tour.
An oddly flat rendition of a great song - i reckon that the '70s amplifiers / video wasn't up to the job - you'd expect this to be a real thundering experience, but this sounds like it's in another room. Still, great to hear it...
@cooper79jeffr oh without a doubt you are right. I was a teenager in the 70s. But I believe there is music today that will be appreciated in 20 or 30 years. Rock and Roll can only have one birth. It's not always easy to see what's under our nose :>) take care, B'
@cooper79jeffr Go ahead and list them, then. For every crap song in the 70s, I'll bet there at least 20 good songs. Unlike today, where for every 20 songs that are crap, there is probably 1 good song, but I seriously doubt it. You probably have to listen to 50 crap songs today in order to listen to 1 good song.
@chroniclerofthe70s - "Ah for the good old days. Why back in my day, they had really good music." This is what some of our grandparents said, this is what some of our parents said. This is what some of us are saying now. This is what some of our children will be saying in the 2020's and 2030's.
These days we have MP3 and YouTube, so we don't "have to" listen through crap to get to good songs. You can find out who are the good adult contemporary or alternative acts, and just play THEIR songs.
@cooper79jeffr Still haven't listed any of the crappy songs from the 70s. From the top of my head I remember about 5, although I'm sure there is another handful of crappy songs. It's like comic books put out in the 90s, 99.9999% of the U.S. population doesn't want them. It will be the same with most songs of today. By what criteria is a good song judged today? Even good songs judged by some today aren't all that impressive. At least give a site for good adult contemporary music.
@chroniclerofthe70s - Listen, I'm not interested in a detailed debate. My overall opinion is there are good and bad songs from both the 70's and the 2010's. If you want to believe good music died sometime after you were young, go ahead and believe that.
I just met pop star Andy Williams at an event here in Minnesota on Friday. He is now 83, and yet he keeps up with various current pop and soul artists on YouTube. He doesn't share your opinion about today's music. But hey, to each their own.
@cooper79jeffr Listen? I agree, however I tried to convey only the difference in proportion between good and bad music was far greater in the 70s than it is today.
Andy Williams isn't a statistician, as far as I know. The numbers more accurately convey the reality of the current music industry today than any anecdotal evidence Williams may give.
@billmaricel 90-95% of the music back in the 70s was good music and 5-10% was crap. I''m being generous to crap music it was probably less. I dare you to list 10% crap songs from the 70s. BTW there were hundreds of hits songs back then. Unlike today, where 90-95% of songs are crap, and only 5-10% are good. A good song has originality, thought provoking or catchy lyrics, and sophisticated or catchy melodies. They can be instrumentals, simple yet thought provoking or mature, or complicated.
@PJ3usa - Yes orchestral rock has mainly gone out of style, although if you listen to One Republic, sometimes you'll hear strains of ELO -- for example "All the Right Moves" and "Secrets". Check these out on YouTube!
Also if you listen to 21-year-old British singer Adele, I assure you none of her songs are like "lid banging". Her music is popular with the kids today and is very beautiful -especially "Rolling in the Deep".
@PJ3usa Your right, music then was diverse both vocally, lyrically , and instrumentally.
That's what happens when many music labels and or producers give freedom to their artists. It brought out the best in music, the industry therefore became very competitive. For an artist to make it then, they had to be talented to compete with established artists of the time.
Most teenagers and adults expected their artists to be talented otherwise the upcoming artists didn't make it.
@milovegas123 - They cancelled the rapture. But ELO did have a song on their Time album called "The End of the World" -- search for "ELO End of the World" in the box at the top of the page! :)
I saw them live outdoors in Montreal in the summer 1976. It was on the island of LaRonde if I remember right and it was a night show. The light show was fantastic. It consisted of a laser show that was projected on the low flying clouds. Absolutely, beautiful weather - you couldn't ask for more. I was 19 years old.
I first heard this in the car with my parents and remember thinking what a top tune!! Even tho my fav type of music is Rap/Hip Hop, with tracks like this you cannot help being open minded in music. Absolute quality. England and America cannot be beaten for music
Was this the Chicago Stadium concert? My first rock concert? When the weed was burning freely but I was there with my frick'n mom and her stupid nurse friends? Probably - it was 1978 - the Out of the Blue tour. Look, you only have one shot at life, don't screw it up.
ELO IMHO were very under-rated. I think it was George Harrison who said the Beatles would've eventually have sounded like them had they not split up. Their light shows at concerts were supposed to be amazing...
Jeff lynn has a diploma on how to compose great music!!! I would guess nesretep08 you know what a flat or minor chord is.No you dont, retard. This is why you need to stay with your rap crap and stop posting your inbred crap on real music.
During the mid 70's ELO recorded some of the most beautiful music ever, great harmonies, melodies, the rolling strings. Some of you jeff Lynne haters write some pretty funny shit, who dosen't love 4th grade humour. I still ask my daughters to pull my finger before farting.. ELO was a great band!!
@hollowmarquis Hell, my grandfather (82) still asks us to pull his finger before he farts, though these days even farting without 'issues' is a risky business =D
Very nice and rare. One of the bands I wanted to see live and never happened. Notice the background girls who are not singing all text (don't you do it etc.) but still very enjoyable! Thanks a lot! ELO forever
@jeffmoto72 my woman looks like a lqady should. Unlike yours, who looks like an overstuffed heftybag full of Krispy Kremes. How many troughs do you usually fill with pigslop to feed her ?
@jeffmoto72 If you're not mad then why are you crying over Jeff, huh? Go back to smoking crack out of your father's ass you cunt. Oh and your come backs are so stupid so fuck you fruitboy.
@JeffLynnesucksc0ck he's from TEXAS. Holy dogshit Batman only steers and queers come from Texas and I dont see any antlers on his pic so that kinda narrows it down huh ?
What are you talking about? How cold you hate someone with so much talent and a great human being? You must not be a christian. I am a Wiccan and ilove jeff Lynne. So you cn go to Hell.
@sunspark01 Yes you are right and yet, Madonna and Run DMC (to name just a couple), are there already! I mean it is ROCK HALL OF FAME ISN'T IT??? I don't get it . . .
ELO is the BadDEST assTIST, SHITesy ever. God Bless N Merry Christmas ! If I could find a Jeff Lynne fan in the crowd It may B A Merry Christmas And A Super Happy New Year ! Rrrr !!

@withfootnotes I was refering to alot of the comments about Jeff Lynns' sexual orientation....Who cares if he's gay or he isn't. Thats what I meant.

ELO forever
