  • They should just show requiem for a dream instead of making us go through D.A.R.E

  • @clarkie1393 My school did both.

  • 'Breaking Bad' is somewhat effective without being preachy.

  • gay sex and meth, where do I sign up

  • They're dishonest and inaccurate is what I'm trying to say. If you know anything about meth... these are just absolutely ridiculous.

  • I don't get it. Not seeing the connection. I mean, you can get addicted to practically anything in the world. And if you trade your butthole for your addiction... well, that's a bad choice... but trying to find a direct connection between getting spun and selling your butthole... what the fuck? And slitting your wrists while spun? It causes you to be incredibly self-confident and overly positive... I've never heard of a meth addict committing suicide.

    These are out there.

  • @Ryakki They're basically saying that if you're addicted to meth, you'll do anything to satiate your addiction. In addition, ever heard of a bad trip? It happens on every chemical. Meth causes anxiety as often as it causes self-confidence, as unrestrained Dopamine causes schizoid mental disorders as well as clinical depression. Plenty of Meth addicts kill themselves, which is why nobody talks about it and likely why you've never heard of it. These ads are quite accurate, not dishonest at all.

  • @SonofSethoitae

Meth addicts I know... they're desperate to keep jobs to fund their meth habits... or pawn their stuff if they get low on cash. Deal drugs.

Going strait to gay sex as a direct result of meth just... doesn't quite do it for me. I know drugs are more intense than most other hobbies, but if for any hobby you go strait to gay sex as a way to pay for it, that's on you.

And link me to some data on meth and suicide, because it's completely opposite of the drug's normal effect.

  • @Ryakki ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21355920

    if-pan.krakow.pl/pjp/pdf/2009/6_966.pdf

Basically, Meth causes an unregulated release of Dopamine. Which actually supports your point that it causes extreme euphoria. But Dopamine is neurotoxic in large doses, and erodes certain centers of the brain, causing schizoid tendencies and suicidal depression.

  • @SonofSethoitae

Wasn't able to get that link to come up.

It can cause depression when you're not on it... I'm sure it can exhaust the dopamine supply while decreasing sensitivity... but, you have a sure fire way to get out of that depression, an escape where the escape was feeling great... why would you take an escape that was pain followed by death? Meth heads want to get high again, not kill themselves.

  • @SonofSethoitae

I guess my point is... why is this any more acceptable than any other extreme, unlikely, and non-causal drug adds where they just throw drugs in with random and unlikely consequences that really don't tie together?

  • nah ill stick with meth

  • I don't care how harmful they are, ALL drugs need to be legal. I have the right to decide what i put in my own body and everyone who wants to take that freedom from me is a facist piece of shit.

Drugs need to be legalized not just as a freedom issue but to crush income for gangs and also considerably improve public health since a lot of drug related deaths are not caused by the drugs themselves but by the shit they are cut with to maximisie profit and addiction and save production costs.

  • methmethmethmeth jk

  • everyone should just do weed

  • @aydooknow Agreed.

  • what they need to include is that if people take meth, those nightmares will be worse than the ones these commercials give you.

  • drugs are bad except marijuana

  • Good thing the second ad wasn't girl on girl sex, because then some guys might think Meth was cool...!

  • The 2 ad cared the crap out of me

  • The 2 ad cared the crap out of me

  • The 2 ad cared the crap out of me

  • Meth makes you gay? Better steer clear!

  • they should just legalize it not like america cares about ur well being they just want ur money

  • Stupid ads are pointless. There's a difference between an addict and a user. HUGE difference.

  • "DDDAAAAUUUYYMMMMM." lol

  • meth is a legal prescription drug in the US, everything in moderation, besides cigarettes... nasty shit right there

  • These anti-meth ads are all bullshit propaganda. Meth doesn't make you pick at your skin, or cut yourself, or whatever else these ads claim.

  • @LOLtheinternetLOL have you tried meth

  • why the problem*

  • @robbinshood79 I think you need to become more educated on this topic. It is a largely supported theory that if prohibition were to end drug use would not rise but remain consistent. Your comment about the police is a large assumption that they are having a positive effect on the drug industry, which is false. Differential association theory and the revolving door justice system are largely the problem is getting worse instead of better. We truly have not learnt from history

  • Hahaha subtitle said "math" instead of "meth"

  • scary

  • What is up with the subtitles?

  • I'm sick of these anti-meth ads on Youtube. I do not do meth, and I never will. These ads are graphic, bloody, depressing, and appalling. I find them very offensive, and I don't want to see them.

I completely understand how horrific meth is, but I do not believe that this is the way to stop it's use.

  • right man for the job

  • I did meth and decided it was "meh," so it's not a part of my life, much like other opiates and amphetamines. I prefer drugs that you can't overdose on.

  • If you smoke Meth

    You gonna get FUCKED!!

That's how is gonna end up kid, so don't even think of taking that first hit.

  • this guy is an idiot. if they were to legalize ALL drugs more people would be in danger; law enforcement would be unable to do their job, which is in the end,to help people.

it is an unrealistic concept to educate every single person on the dangers of drugs.

hahaha also did he say that the revenue from the drugs would be used for campaigns against them?that doesn't make sense. that means he is excepting of the fact that there will be abuse. but if there isn't abuse where will the money come from

  • Dang, that second ad is INTENSE. Ana's right. Most anti-drug ads suck, but that one is much better.

  • I really don't understand how Cenk would be in favor of people kill themselves. He wants to legalize drugs so that it can be taxed. So now we are making money off of people who will slowly die. Cenk, You fucking hippie. All drugs will never be made legal. I wonder if this asshole has ever seen someone on meth or crack face to face. Someone in my family died because of meth and this asshole wants to make it legal so everyone can use it. FUCK YOU.

  • If you find this shocking, you have probably never seen Arofnofsky's "Requiem for a Dream"...

  • @MARI0LAND 'Requiem' is a 2 hour PSA...Who's star was ROBBED at the 0scarz.

  • LMFAO these are like the only reporters that ever made me laughed subscribed.

  • legalize it!

  • Meth (methamphetamine) is actually sold legally as prescription medicine under the trade name Desoxyn. It is prescribed for ADHD, ADD, narcolepsy and obesity. A very similar drug, dexamphetamine, is prescribed for those same conditions - regularly for children.

Those ads were probably the least insulting and best anti-drug ads i've ever seen, but in the end they present a false view of what meth does.

I'm not suggesting anyone use meth, but those things simply don't happen to most meth users.

  • @pronumeral1446

I also meant to say that neither methamphetamine (Desoxyn, "speed") or dexamphetamine (Adderall, Vyanase) are the same as Ritalin and Concerta, which are actually a different drug called methylphenidate. Methylphenidate is chemically close to the amphetamines (dex and meth) however, and it is still a very strong stimulant like those two.

  • i am far from that and so are other parents in the world once a child is 18 they are considered legal we cant make decssion for them anymore they have to use there better judge ment and some dont and that why this video was made just saying

  • Takeing drugs has nothing to do with parents you can instil in your child not to do drugs but because of perpressure from other children most children try it i myself as a parent am going to tell my child not to do drugs but i am also going to show her the psa'a and the documentarys and show her the effects from a book wise but my chid and every one elses child has the own mind and makes there own deccsions no matter what we say so you cant say harsh things like parents are idiots because

  • Lol @ 0:41 - also try keeping pressing 2. Okay I admit. Im bored

  • The guy on the right saying, "I am for legalization of all drugs" and "Gay sex -- there is nothing wrong with that" looks like a pothead.

  • @voelkerb and?

  • Please, let us just watch the ads.

  • Meth is one hell of a drug.

  • This works better than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saying, "Drug dealers are dorks, don't even talk to them. Cowabunga!" every Saturday morning.

This is harsh reality of meth & people need to see it.

  • These PSA's only really affect people who weren't likely to do drugs in the first place

  • This way better than any work donald duck or the other stupid characters ever did against drugs

  • I FRIGGIN LOVE ARONOFSKY!!!!

  • DEA is evil. I want people to shoot up and kill themselves. We are over populated. Legalize it all and watch violent crime go down.

  • I don't think this works, its so fake its not even scary. They should have used the before and after pics from real addicts. That stuff scared the shit out of me.

  • Harsh? this obviously doesnt know any tweakers lol

  • bahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahah

  • I have a bit of a problem with Anti-Drug ads. The need for them means parents aren't being parents

It's a parents responsibility to teach their kids stuff about that. But parents are such fucking idiots these days. They think TV and raise children and when something goes wrong, they can get someone else to fix it for them.

While I think the ads will work, it shows how fucking useless parents really are these days.

  • @SeanTheOriginal I agree that a lot of parents are useless, but I also say that there are a LOT of things that children need to be taught about and not all of it is easy to know how to approach it. Especially since kids are just as diverse and unique as everyone else. There is no cookie cutter "talk" or lesson that will work for all kids. I'm for things like this, because it gives us tools and assistance to do something that a lot of people don't realize is actually hard to personalize to kids.

  • @SeanTheOriginal i see your reasoning, personally my mother works against drugs and alcohol, goes to schools and teaches about the bad effects and such, my three siblings and i have had it drilled in to us from birth, that didnt stop my sister from trying meth, it took her once and she was hooked, she was then used as a guinea pig for bad meth batches, these commercials are extreme, but dont even begin to show the actual effects of Meth

  • @SeanTheOriginal read "Tweak" by Nic Sheff. will completely change your opinion. it is not always up to the parents.

  • @SeanTheOriginal Yeah, and then we get this anti-marijuana attitude that misinforms both parents and kids.

  • @SeanTheOriginal lol its not the parents, its the kids that see references to drugs in TV/Media ALL the time. The reason it seems like parents are getting worse is because the media is becoming more flexible.

  • @Cheeeeeeeseyblocked What you said is so monumentally stupid, there's nothing I can say.

  • @SeanTheOriginal lol? what? You say Parents "these days", what? when was there ever a time in history where 100% of the parents in the world took care of children. I got news for you buddy, Before you were born, the world wasnt some super cool, amazing, peaceful place. And its not corrupt because parents "dont work anymore" . and BTW, Anti drug ads dont mean anything, bad parents are bad parents, good ones are good ones.

  • @SeanTheOriginal

bla fucking bla, the parents are to blame for everything. I think a lof of "kids" have the ability to make a well thought out choice but refuse to do it. Some people are more predisposed to drug use and addiction while some are not. You might as well brainwash children and control every facet of their lives so they can't make any decisions for themselves.

  • @SeanTheOriginal Fuck you dude. My parents do their job. I guess your parents werent there for you or something?

  • @SeanTheOriginal A lot of people either don't have parents, have estranged parents or have terrible parents. Either way, the internet is going to be a big replacement for parents, alongside friends etc. If this is the only way they can learn that drugs are bad, I say go for it.

  • @SeanTheOriginal there's only so much a parent can do about it though. If a kid wants to drugs he's gonna do drugs regardless of what parents tell him some kids will do stuff just solely bc their parents said not to. I think the ads are much more useful than parents educating kids because some kids are so misguided. They show just how destructive these hard fucked up drugs are.

  • Meth is bad mmkay

  • @glaked32 luv the south park reference

  • Never thought about it, but now I definitely never will

  • i smoke meth outa of my dead sisters skull

  • @HELLCR666 that's what you call recycling!

  • @Rael0505 haha,thats right...METH RULZ

  • Wow. Deep ad. I'm definetly not gonna do meth now. Of course, I wasn't gonna do meth before. It's a horrible drug.

  • i hate these fuckin retards hosting

  • @22baseballguy - I cannot stand them either.

  • I don't know what the truth is about taking drugs. What I do know is that the government and anti-drug interest groups have lied to me about the effects of some drugs. So now I don't know what to believe. Instead of lieing why not just tell the truth and let people decide for themselves?

  • ".Daaaaaaaammmnnnn" priceless.

  • ".Daaaaaaaammmnnnn" priceless.

  • Wtf?

  • whitney houston and bobby brown were in psa's like these ones enough said

  • @meekas06 Good thing about drugs (if you're famous, anyway)--if you get caught, you can do PSAs to reduce the charge!

  • I don't agree that PSA's need to be incredibly "hard hitting" to be effective, and risk having unintended consequences to the viewers and society (scared people do stupid things).

  • Also Cenk... you would use money that the govt makes from taxing drug sales... to discourage drug use. You don't see how thats a conflict of interest?

  • these ads will discourage white middleclas kids from experimenting with dangerous drugs..

However.. ofcourse ... poverty, lack of self-esteem or positive anchor in one's life is the real issue for most people who turn to drugs-inc alcohol..

  • I like these PSAs but wtf is with the ones i see on tv every day. Like the ones with dissected frogs and a heart being operated on. wtf why would i wanna see that

  • Don't like the homo sex angle? Just have the kid about to turn a trick with wrinkled old grandma. N o disrespect o wrinkled old grandmas intended.

  • we should have learned from DARE that these adds dont work

  • The war on drugs is such a terrible disaster. Methamphetamine is so big because the govt has made cocaine so expensive and unavailable. Cocaine became widely available because the government had a war on marijuana. The more we war against drugs the more potent and dangerous they become.

  • @klard So are you suggesting that you legalize meth?

  • @myassin2009 Yes What is being accomplished by the prohibition? The devastating effects of methamphetamine on the user and society are in great part a result of the prohibition. The harmful physical effects are for the most part a result of the chemical residue from the clandestine manufacturing process. Pharmaceutical grade methamphetamine does not contain these harmful chemicals. Resources should be focused on treatment and education not the ridiculous and expensive warehousing of addicts.

  • @klard As far as resources go they should be focused on BOTH. Legalizing a drug doesn't decrease the demand for it it just makes it that much easier for the addicts to get their hands on it. Did alcohol use decrease when it became legalized? No. When abortion became legal did abortionists decrease? No. History has shown us when an action becomes legal the people carrying out the action decreases. Drugs are no different.

  • @myassin2009 Legalizing drugs reduces the sales pressures for these substances as it removes the profit motive. Illicit drugs are so widely available because the profit motive is an incentive for dealers to be everywhere potential users are. Like with alcohol prohibition of drugs has been a complete and costly failure in every way.

  • @klard Increases*

  • @myassin2009 Actually one of the forces pushing the end of alcohol prohibition were many of the same groups who pushed for prohibition when they discovered that ending regulation and prohibiting alcohol allowed greater access to alcohol by underage people. Today it is recognized that a legal and regulated alcohol is less available to minors than other unregulated prohibited drugs. Your analysis fails to consider the effect of imposing regulation.

  • @klard I would have to risk getting caught by police, I would have to risk getting POISONED by the dealer, I would have to risk of even getting killed by the drug dealer. Even the process of finding a dealer takes a long time. That will make me less inclined to purchase a drug. It is really common sense

  • Pot is the only natural drug that doesn't have to be chemically altered to obtain a high

  • 0:41 daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn *chortle*

    i hate this guy.

  • Anyone who thinks a teenager in a poor neighbourhood whose life is absolutely screwed up and has no television, is affected by this and will stop using meth is extremely naive and clueless.

  • I knew a guy that had to shit in a meth dealer's mouth for a 1 inch cube of meth. thats fucked up.

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited The commercial isn't saying that meth makes you gay, it's just highlighting the unfortunate truth that many poor drug users do end up selling themselves to get more money or drugs. 100% heterosexual users may become sexually active with a member of the same sex if it gets them drugs.

  • Any drug can make you do those things ... Pot can make you over weight so its just like slitting your wrist and could make your reflexes Slower ..... you could become someones Boytoy when you get locked up if you get caught with Pot .. so yea locked up could turn u gay as well . so please dont laugh it off like Meth is the Really Bad Drug when both can have you ending up in Similar situations

  • @bouncebaby07 1. You cannot "Turn" gay or straight, no matter how many drugs you take.

    2. If you are sent to prison for being caught with pot then that is the government's fault, not the user's.

    3. Any drug? Really? An occasional joint can make you whore yourself off? A can of beer will drive you to this?

    4. No-one is laughing anything off... I mean... what?

    5. Pot is not similar to self harming, by that logic so is drinking alcohol and eating fatty food.

    Just shut up man.

  • seriously do people really think that happens anymore than your brains being like fried eggs

  • supposedly the one about the girl slitting her wrists was aired at around 8:30PM on CARTOON NETWORK!! what the f**k?!? I'm having a son and he doesn't need to see stuff that graphic!! at least put it on MTV or something geared more towards teenagers. Yes start showing them some ads about maybe how bad smoking is but nothing like this!!! Complete and utter garbage. That's what this is.....

  • Really? What a joke these 2 are!! Would you be up there if your sister was an addict acting like that? PURE IGNORANCE!!!!

  • @electronicoffee ur an idiot haha

  • The Young Turks are idiots - I think the only legalization of meth should be for you two so your gene pool will end.

  • @sunnysmiles11 As long as you take it so that your gene pool ends, that sounds good.

  • these people are so annoying. I hate it when I run into these videos. ugh.

  • i think he could have made them MUCH more effective.. classic pictures of young women suddenly aged by 20 years because of meth use i think should have been included!!!

  • Same thing happened in basketball diaries, but it was heroine

  • How much is he going to get for that I'm gonna go 6 inches.

  • What do you know about meth? Its fun, thats enough.

  • The ads were crazy

  • OBAMA...OH YEAH...CUM ON...

  • @buakawkaoklai wtf? lol

  • @Acuransx135 dont you know obama is to blame for is going wrong on this world...wait until 2012 .....the mayan redneck profecies will come true...obama...oh yeah ...cum on...

  • Wow Cenk is libertarian on social issues. I like that.

Its true, all looks absolutely should be legal, even the most harsh ones.

Just make sure individuals are educated.

  • Aronofsky is a really shitty director. Its extremely easy to make every scene in your movie or in this case PSA overly dramatic, that doesnt make you talented. He always seems like hes trying so hard to be creative.

  • @treysparker Wrooongggg. Aronofsky is one of the greatest film directors alive, have you even watched any movies that he made?

  • Meth is dirt cheap. I doubt that many people are pimping themselves out for it. Herion, Coke, sure. Meth, not so much.

  • @tvsinesperanto Well, once you've developed a serious meth problem, you probably aren't fit to hold down many mainstream jobs. People with serious drug addictions don't just resort to crime and prostitution to buy the drugs. They come to depend on crime and prostitution for all their income. I think that's the real issue with hard drug addiction.

  • @PenelopeBaden Good point. Didn't consider that.

  • @tkcarr In countries where they have legalized drugs they have seen a lower drug use and when the gov give out drugs for free to addicts there is less HIV, less crime and more people choose to seek help. So Cenks idea is that he wants less users but he knows the stats and the fact is that banning drugs actually in many cases may make the problem worse. And drugs fuel criminals but when drugs are legal they loose a lot of their value and when the gov gives it away for free it looses all value.

  • @2Critical4You I am not sure I believe that legalizing stuff like meth will lower it's use. I don't think people take it just because it's illegal. Likewise I don't think that banning it makes people want it more. As to crime, when we repealed prohibition it did not end organized crime. They just found other stuff to peddle. I am thinking other factors are at work with drug use and drug crime than just the laws against it.

  • @electronicoffee obviously you have some deep hatred for the anti-gay stuff. But seriously, who cares what it's targeting. I think it targets everyone because in some way shape or form, something in those ads is going to reach anyone. Your just so pent up on your hatred for anti-gay stuff that's all you see. I saw a young person prostituting themselves for money. Unless you've ever seen the effects if drugs firsthand. Method out baby...like I have. STFU (stop trolling for unicorns) and GTFO. An

  • Legalizing all drugs..? Um...not all.

  • That's bullshit. This ad is about using the typical heterosexual male's culture-based masculinity to fuel a homophobic internal response against meth. This ad is homophobic and the focus is on the gay sex, not the prostitution. I know a bunch of you guys are gonna bitch that 'Oh it's about the prostitution, not the gay sex' but the gay sex is INHERENTLY the driving psychological focus this ad is trying to evoke, from the belt being opened to the dude sitting on the bed. #BULLSHIT #HOMOPHOBIC

  • @electronicoffee I do think you have something of a point...but what is that alternative? That prostitutes always be portrayed as female? That's also problematic, in that it also plays into stereotypes and feeds into misconceptions about prostitution.

  • Meth is your friend kids!!!

  • i'm with cenk on drug policy, but the psa is a fail

  • fail psa

  • this is not effective. only effective method is a good education.

  • Meth would be one drug I wouldn't be in favor of legalizing. It fucks you up so much.

  • I think the ads are great!

  • While PSAs like these get a lot of attention and positive effects of them are boasted about on the Meth Project website(conflict of interest?), as a public health professional I want to point out that they DO NOT EFFECT DRUG USAGE. Evaluations of the effects of campaigns that use scare tactics and of the Meth Project PSAs specifically have found that they do not have an effect on drug usage.

  • Legalise all drugs.... Dipshit

  • @s09623 criminals want drugs to stay legal

  • @s09623 illegal oops lol

  • The second PSA was graphic in an insightful, demonstrative way. Most bad PSAs lack the "this could really happen" factor that this one had. Good job, whatever agency that made it.

  • These ads give me chills

  • good ads, scare the ppl away of this crap

  • Very effective ads

  • Summary execution of drug dealers might also work.

  • But meth's fun. Isn't fun the reason why people do what they do?

  • Wow I don't support drug use but if you gotta do it then go for it. Having said that I will let everyone know right now; Meth does not do that to you. Sorry Darren, I think you must have got a bad batch bro,

  • Are they implying your going to turn into a homosexual if you do meth?

  • @Furfur616 lmao apparently. I wonder if anyone producing these ads has ever actually done the drugs they are so scared of.

  • @TheLionHeart95 You do know that the effects of the narcotics vary from person to person? What if, when looking from the global view, there was someone for whom the situation the ad is illustrating actually happened? I don't think it was a lmao moment for him. Adults are bad writers, so it is very likely that the script writer was inspired by real incidents.

What do the real druggies do then? Think they are a banana and try to peel themselves with a knife? Do you really want to see that on TV?

  • @fingrid Well I have never seen anyone on pcp so idk about the peeling themselves thing. But I have done meth myself and it is very over rated but I can see how one would get addicted. Whats gonna kill me is these cigarettes if I don't stop smoking them.

  • @Furfur616 no they are implying that once you become an addict you will do anything to feed your addictions including have gay sex as a straight person... don't believe it? Go to rehab... meet some real addicts...

  • Ha! I think they are total propaganda!

Most people don't have to prostitute themselves out to buy meth.

It's propaganda just like the marijuana ads.

Legalize all drugs. Having them sold in small store fronts with armed guards seems better than having them sold in an inner city open air drug market, where children can sell or buy.
