"In USA techno or house are only underground and a lot of times they are considered gay music..."
This is true, but the majority of people in my country are close minded sheep who only listen to music that's spoon-fed to them via top 40 radio.
Why can't people become more musically aware? I'm not asking for much. The fact that thousands of people flocked to twitter posting "Who the fuck are the Suburbs?" after Arcade Fire's latest record won a grammy makes me sad to be an American.
@Violent4Fun24 this so caller "real techno" dude was born straight from the European music like Kraftwerk, Front 242, Laibach etc. when in US folks were masturbating to John Bon Jovi and Aerosmiths in Europe folks were playing new wave and later having fun on rave parties...
@OptionalExit There are just way too many things wrong with the statement "when in US folks were masturbating to John Bon Jovi and Aerosmiths in Europe folks were playing new wave and later having fun on rave parties..." That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard,
1. You have Detroit to thank for techno.
2. The Bon Jovi refrence would be like me saying that the only artist that existed in the UK in the late 1980's was Rick fucking Astley
@warrior7593 You say the truth but remember that the roots of detroit techno are european and you have to say thanks to Europe if EDM became so big in 90s and 00s. And don't forget that in european techno there is a big influence of nu beat and industrial, so we help techno a lot in the development of the sound, we don't import only a new music, we changed it actively. In USA techno or house are only underground and a lot of times they are considered gay music...
@Violent4Fun24 what the hell do you guys call eurodance ? never could figure that out.. if you're talking about european electronic music in general, don't call it stupid, it's just different.
@Schaezen Eurodance is a style (style like progressive, acid, tribal) of electronic music that is notable for being synth-heavy, overdoing the beat, and considered to be cheesy. It is what has widely been misidentified as techno (that is if techno has not been misused as a synonym for all of electronic music), instead of this good old Detroit stuff. European electronic music is just electronic music that is made in Europe, and that's a vast majority of the electronic music made in the world.
JUST ADDED TO SW4 2010 LINEUP... Carl Cox, John Digweed, Vitalic, Dubfire, Paul Oakenfold, Sharam, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Joris Voorn, Mark Knight, Skream & Benga, Josh Wink, Mutant Clan, Switch, Gareth Emery, A Trak, Judge Jules, Ms Dynamite, Andy C, Christian Smith, Guy J, Giuseppe Ottaviani [Live], Funkagenda, Dave Spoon, Joachim Garraud, Housemeister, DJedjotronic, Shadow Dancer [Live], Jack Beats, Mary Ann Ho
They were more willing to take risk back then. I think the vjs were given more control than they are today. They don't want to take a chance playing anything that won't be ridiculously profitable. Even within the more common rap and mainstream rock format, they used to be much more innovative than they are now.
My sometimes negative associations with nice early techno come from german hatespeakers at the radio. I never knew why you had to bash ecologists, "hippies" (where are any??) and other people? But it happened in nearly any bavarian radioshow I listened to find some new music. Now this here is a stunning nice video and fits well to the song! Thanks for sharing. One to watch often!
One of the very few, true classic Detroit Techno videos...if not the only one!...I'm not aware of any other videos from "the golden era". This video is so beautiful and simple. Much like classic techno.
