They see you go to the toilet and learn to associate that pit thing with having a crap the same way they do with the litter tray (except you don't go in the liter tray and cats bury crap naturally) My cat knows where the toilet is and what it's for, but I have a heavy automatic-closing toilet door so he can't get in by himself - -;

I think I'm going to try teaching my cat now... the only problem is my room mate has a cat too with his own litter box in his room. Do you think that will be a problem? Please note that I am just getting this cat so he will hopefully stick to my room when it comes to using the liter box at first. Maybe I should just get him started on the toilet with a litter bowl right from the beginning? Any thoughts?
