  • hetfields voice sucks here.. but dave leads are better than kirk's

  • which came first...this, or the metal massacre version?

  • @BassFever74 Massacre, with Llyod grant on lead guitar:)

  • @BassFever74 metal massacre was the first demo tape for metallica. this was the last one they did for kill em all

  • I love demo versions like these.

Don't misunderstand me, I certainly think the versions from Kill 'Em All are the best, but there's something special about listening to the "very first versions". =P

  • marcuscengiz u watching ur fucking tongue. this could not be anymore glorious if it fucking tried.

  • ive been a metallica fan for over 7 years now, is it only me that thinks that the vocals suck?

  • @marcuscengiz They suck because you're a fan from only 7 years ago...

  • The chorus 'hit the liiiights' sounds so much like Diamond Head, awesome to hear the inspiration in this

  • i´m just waiting for a troll comment only for have a fight thumbs up if you support me.

  • DAVE MUSTAINE!!!!!!

  • damn imagine what metallica would be like now if dave mustaine never got fired and if ron mcgovney never quit? damn they would be insane right now.

  • Wow, it sounded fucking epic when dave was in the band singing with james. Too bad dave messed up bit too much and got kicked out. Oh well Now we have to of the most GODLY bands on earth: MEGADETH and METALLICA!!! Metal on Dave and James

  • awesome

  • EVERYONE HAS TO CHECK OUT THIS SONG!! "RAISE THE FLAG BY SANKTUARY" IT SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON KILL EM ALL BUT ITS BRAND NEW. MIGHT WANT TO CRACK A COLD SCHILTZ WHILE LISTENING TO THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Both on vocals.

  • I listen to this intro now, after a long time of not hearing Metallica, and now it reminds me of the beginning of The Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog"

  • M--U--S--T--A--I--N--E-*-!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i find it bad that in no life till leather james doesnt scream like in kill em all

  • Wait is this James on vocals?

  • thanks metallica for letting dave go and create the best metal band ever ! Megadeth rules!

  • I love Lars' drum fills on this song.Heavy.

  • dude, I used to have to comb the record stores looking for demos, and imports to find this shit. Now it's just all out there. Love it and hate it.

  • Now I know why I like Megadeth so much

  • dave plays very page alike with his solos here.

  • lol its dave

  • probably the first speed/thrash Metal song ever written.

  • James vocals, lars Drums, ron mcgovney Bass, Dave Guitar

  • This no life til leather demo is my favorite Metallica thing, other than the song One. I like how it is primitive and raw.

  • Why do people keep saying Dave sang??? He never sung for Metallica, Dave was backup vocals. I repeat Dave never sang!

  • It wasn't dave, this was made by James and Lars when they first met. James on guitars, bass and vocals, Lars on drums. Only thang is that Dave prolly sung here.

  • This version is better.

  • @chaclapa nah i don't think lemmy ever played with metallica on a record

  • @MrDirectGraffiti Who said anything about Lemmy? I said this version is better than the Kill 'Em All one...

  • esto es HERMOSO

  • Kirk appears to have ripped off Dave. Except Dave was better. Cool energy to his playing.

  • @geraldssj5 you suck

  • @geraldssj5 Suck his glorious nuts

  • @geraldssj5 you realize you're saying that about Dave Mustaine, possibly the single most influential man in thrash metal?

  • I was given this demo in 1982 by Ron Quintana of KUSF thrash and bang in SF. Met James we drank then smoked with cliff and it is simply amazing how Dave Mustaine has kept the sound and spirit of this early style alive and better than ever. I saw Megadeth prove that metal is alive and well on 8/29/2010.

  • DAVE!!! \m/

  • Composed by God itself.

  • he's singing in this not shouting... pretty cool

  • alcohol changed james voice so much...

  • @YMasmola hahaha no puberdey lol

  • mustaine esta cantando????

  • i really dig james vocals back then, seems like he was really trying to sing like the guy from diamond head, sean harris?

  • it sound like hell bent for leather

  • Dave!!!!!!!!!!1

  • if you like dave you better listen to megadeth

  • @kohlerjo

    Dave fucking sucks!

  • So interesting to hear the early version of this song.

  • dude were did you get this track were did you down load?

  • These demos are bad ass

  • Dude, I wish I was alive to buy this album, I'd be an even bigger thrasher if only I got into Thrash Metal before last year :/ Actually, I was into Metallica for about 3 years now, if only I got into it sooner x.x

  • This is some really early Metallica But i still really cant get over Pat Vocks vocals the really are not that great

  • This is some really early Metallica But i still really cant get over Pat Vocks vocals the really are not that great

  • I love the way James vocals progressed over the years. I think they peaked on and justica for all.

  • its lloyd grant not davbe mustaine

  • No you idiot, Lloyd Grant played on Metal massacre CD when it was James and Lars (I think James played bass on it too) no life till leather featured Ron and Dave

  • yea that is true if u look at the pics of the demo cover

  • i kinda hav this so \m/

  • METAL UP YOUR ASS!!!!!

  • Hell this is old!!! Metallica will live forever!!!

  • wow! back when dave and james sounded almost alike......

  • metallica sold out, big time. What happened to the no video attitude nd shit. oh wait thats right they got offered shit loads of money to make radio friendly music. The bit in the black album documentary where james ses 'can u say crap on the radio' is the saddest thing ive ever heard.

  • lol that does sound sad

  • the original??? this is the original, nd this is a demo, the so called 'original' was recorded in a studio. Plus the solo kirk plays is daves solo, so you can now go back to sucking kirks cock.

  • Mustaine's solo is garbage compared to Kirk's on the album. I love the album version, this one is sloppy.

  • this was also a demo not a studio recording you cant compare them

  • @BijanMetallica Your mom is sloppy

  • @AltarOfHate666

You're an aids infected child molestor.

  • You're a cum guzzling thunder cunt. gg

  • @AltarOfHate666

Thunder Cunt, that's a good one.

  • awesome!

  • It souds like a cross between Dave Msutaine and a castrated Dave Mustaine.

  • hit the lights !!! yeah

  • i like this one better than the hit the lights one!

  • i don't like the demo :( too slow for me. and the backing vocals just don't suit the song :(

  • dave may play better than james, but james destroys him in singing

  • who is singing? it doesnt sound like james

  • its james he hasnt hit puberty yet lol jk

    but it is him

  • I agree

  • Boy, after ...And Justice for All, Metallica really started to suck. But, this, THIS, is real metal.

  • they sound lke judas priest

  • @ChristianU2ubeh Obviously you havnt heard any song by Metallica after and justice..

  • @themopheadclan Pretty sure he has, because he speaks the truth.

Though I'd go as far as to say they started getting worse after Ride the Lightning and AJFA was their last album before they dropped below "good" level.

  • @ThazuaBlackarrow They didnt, its just him who thinks they did. Tbh I think a lot of people like their albums after AJFO

  • @themopheadclan They did. A lot of people realize this. A lot people who listen go, love, appreciate and know Metal, or just music, know Metallica became a shitty, shitty band.

And your point? A lot of people like the Jonas Brothers. Doesn't make them good. It just makes those people stupid/shows those people have a bad taste in music.

  • @ThazuaBlackarrow Just because someone doesnt like the same music as you doesnt make them have a bad taste in music... (and dont go saying I liek the Jonas brothers)

I like all of Metallicas music, im in sure a lot of people do. There more popular in the area of Metal and rock.... yes. Dont making that a bad thing lol

Evolve with the music or stick to ranting about music that isnt thrash. Your choice :)

  • @ChristianU2ubeh real thrash Metal. actually

  • Is Dave Mustaine on this? Or Kirk

  • This is Dave.

  • I bet bob rock convinced lars to scale his kit down and get metallica to cut their hair..

  • I really don't get it. Kirk's solo on the the final version is soooo different, i just dont see where he's copying Dave from, at least on this track.

  • I dig James vocal style here as well as Mustaines guitar playing. This is the shit right here pure old school thrash I dont understand why they had to change this music on this demo as well as there first 4 albums amazes me the commercializing seems totally unecessary.

  • It's all about money, my friend. You'd be surprised how much it changes people. They see a paycheck, they change their style to make it more media-friendly. It really makes you respect the bands that never changed.

  • it also depends on the producer and what they want them to sound like. i mean look at bob rock. Everyone was so amazed by Metallica up till ...And Justice For All. then bob rock decides to change afew things and they go the opposite way. cause metallica is the old school band that acts like they are still a garage band (you know the ones that play for fun and games not money or fame) they just had a faggy producer.

  • True man, true.

  • Just like GreenDay!!! Hahaha!!!

  • Don't you mean up till the Black Album? Bob Rock didn't produce ...And Justice For All. Besides, two of my favorite songs come from AJFA (Dyer's Eve and Blackened)

  • no AJFA. alot of people weren't as impressed. then black album didnt really help em with bob rock ruining their style. still have alot of great songs dont get me wrong but bob rock did kinda send them on a down hill slide after load.

  • I just like the brutality of AJFA. Pisses me off they silenced Jason though. Bob Rock was just an egotistical, money-whoring ass. He played bass in Saint Anger, but they still payed and gave Trujilo credit. Why not let Trujilo play, the world may never know.

  • Yea bob rocks a faggot. he ruins a great band for money when they were already making alot of it with the style they were playing. then they cut bob loose and make Death Magnetic and it sounds so much better. even has an instrumental and solos and alot better singing

  • I really liked Death Magnetic. Who ever had the balls to make that petition to fire Bob Rock, I salute you.

  • amen to that

  • Twas a smart move. I kinda want Metallica to stop touring and make up for that 15 year gap of suck.

  • hell yea dont we all

  • There's always that one guy that says "LOAD WAS GREAT"...

  • hahaha yeah. i woulda liked load better if it was a different band...oh wait, it was

  • erm maybe cos they had recorded the tracks before rob joined.

  • is that really james singing?

  • sure is

  • You can tell after the first phrase because he does his signature "YEAH" thing haha

  • mustaine is god

  • fool

  • he influenced King and Hetfield(whom of course still went on to develop their own style) but still back in their beginning he definably made an impact on them, and then went on to create megadeth. So he really is almost responsible for 3 out of the 5 big thrash bands

  • There are 3 out of the 4, and you took that from a metal documentary.Dumbass form your own opinion.

  • its trippy cause u said almost the exact same thing that dave said in the movie.. he even said the big 5..

  • Big 5? Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer whos the 5th? Exodus? Testament? Overkill?

  • i think u replied 2 the wrong person..i never said big 5.....

  • buddy hit the lights was written before james formed metallica, same as some riffs from no remorse, so i dont think he influenced hetfield. Maybe he worked with him and brought out some better riffs, but certainly didnt expose him to that style. But yea, he is completely responsible for kerry

  • Lars formed Metallica, not James

  • well they both did, cause they were the original members, but technically lars called james up so he did start it in a sense

  • the riffs here and no remorse and also motor breath was written by the guitarost name huugh tanner.. james wrote the lyrics though

  • I always thought Kirk Hammet was a better lead guitarist then Dave Mustaine. After this, i dont know anymore. It makes me think what Dave could have done in Metallica. Too bad Metallica sucks now and will suck even more when ENDGAME comes out. MEGADETH 4 LIFE

  • Dude, they experimented with their music. It doesn't mean they suck. All bands have to experiment with their music sometime.

  • So this is where Hetfield got his influence from Diamond Head.

  • Comment removed

  • i like the screams in kill 'em all better than the singing here (like during the verses and chorus)

  • kirk did redo the solos (wich are like 1000 times better than daves)

  • Comment removed

  • what do they mean by leather? one of those gimp hats?

  • Dave Mustaine Never sang in Metallica he sang some back up but he mostly just played guitar.

  • James Hetfields raw voice in kill 'em all is much better than this. There is maybe the best vocals ever on that album. This singing sounds like dave mustaine and megadeth and megadeth sucks! because of mustaines shitty voice.

  • Are you fucking kidding me this is Hetfield at his prime, those vocals are pure fucking thrash. And mustaine is a fucking genius to keep it fucking thrashy, and thats why metallica lost there thrash title after master, and lost there metal title after the black album. Megadeth has remain a Thrash metal gods.

  • But there got there Metal crown back, when Death Magnetic was born :D

  • No they didnt they still suck

  • At his prime? I don't know about that one dude, if you ask me his vocals on Kill 'Em All were. He was ripping off Diamond Head's singer, Sean Harris, during this period.

  • original shit always sounds better cause u can tell they try their hardest to sounds fucken insanse

  • you know....maybe if anyone is part of the metallica fan club and they have some event where they can talk to james or lars or you can ask them a question at any time they should feaking ask who sang on the demo...thats how we'll solve this

  • Listen to a Kreator song called "Tormentor" it's intro sounds exactly like this ones

  • Because there is a Metallica influence

  • How do we know this int fake? and the sound is all over the place, if it is real its really good.

  • it is real coz its dave mustaine singing. thats when he still was in metallica.

  • ahah dave mustaine aint singing on that demo.

  • is that james? if it is his voice is awesome!

  • Yeah it is. and to the poster of the video, this wasnt written by "the rock gods metallica" alot of it was written by dave mustaine sheer genious. fanning over a band that cant even make a decent record anymore sheesh.

  • the biggest reason most people don't know dave wrote a lot of the songs that were later on Kill Em All and Ride The Lights is James and Lars took Daves name off a lot of the songs credits. If u listen to the orignal vierson of Jump Into The Fire on the ron Mcgovern Garage days u say hear how different the orignal that dave wrote compared to the later version od Jump Into The Fire that was on Kill Em All

  • Heres a site that shows all the metallica demos and that horsemen at the apocalypse is a real demo recording.

  • Is there way I can get this? PLEASE!!!

  • I have this demo and a couple others. I could send u the files.

  • Hey You got the Horsemen of the Apocalypse Demo? I can't find it anywhere.

  • I have the demo.

  • Is it online? If so can you post the URL?

    Thanks

  • Listen, I know you were talking to another guy, but could you send the demo files to me? It'd be very appreciated.

  • I have some of the demo I can't find the rest of the demo. the place I got it from only gave me like 5 songs from the demo.

  • Actually all the lyrics and music was written by Leather Charm, James' previous band before METALLICA

  • id luv to hear some leather charm

  • ita vero

  • Do the initials LG come into mind?

  • the vocals is james..he trying to sound like diamondhead back in the days.and mustaine is the back up vocals..
