Ra-rocksichord; Danny Davis-acl, cga; Stafford James-eb; John Gilmore-d. Alternate take from the Night of the Purple Moon sessions, Philadelphia or New York, 1970.
@recked The info I provided comes from the sleeve of the record that I took this from- indeed "Out There A Minute", a compilation of 'rare arkestra recordings' put out by the UK Blast First label and put together by Sun Ra himself. The sleeve dates all recordings as 'late 1960s'- I assumed this was accurate. I understand 'Night of the Purple Moon' was recorded in New York in 1970 but I thought this alternate take would have been an exception to that. The video is unofficial, I made it..
@themobilife hi, sorry for the late reply! i no longer have access to this channel. this video is pieced together from parts of the 1956 educational film "Our Mr Sun". you can find it on archive(dot)org
This is an interesting variation on the version found on Night of the Purple Moon. Glad I clicked this one. Also, who the hell gave this video a thumbs down? What is wrong with you?

This track is from 1970 and not at all rare. It was released on "Out There a Minute" No idea where the video is from... not Sun Ra though.

Genius music. So little elements and than so rich.....
Pfffff, Sun Ra is in my opinion underrated as a musician. Sure he's known as a character, but listen to this music...!
Geniusssss
