@N64isgreat I agree with you mate, if no one had nuclear weapons, what would stop superpowers trying to invade each other? What would've stopped Russia from taking over the whole of europe? If there were no nuke, then nothing basically.

I just wanted to point you all to a response made by Labour MP Roberta Blackman Woods who posted a response on a website called Digital Democracy. Opposition to renewal of Trident was identified as a top national priority on the website by members and Roberta's response was interesting.
ok lets say that hypothetically china wants to invade us theyre population is roughly 1,325,640,000 and the u.k. is 61,000,000 with a war witout nuclear weapons we would be helpless against such a nation. I think we should have such weapons to deter any nation from acting against us with force god forbid we ever have to use them
thats what marcus is saying, that there is no point in having nuclear weapons because if they launched a missile at us only thing we could do is launch one back and that would not solve anything, because both nations would be dead.

mmmm? Can anyone explain to me how you ensure compliance if all countries were to get rid of WED's. Treaties are not worth the paper they are written on when countries start looking after nos 1. As the worlds resouces start to run out trouble will kick off and it would only be a matter of time before the threat of nukes would appear again, think about N Korea,Iran. Human nature wont change, love or hate them nukes have ensured no world wide conflict since 1945, they are a nec evil unfortunatly
