  • Hi!

Have you got any clue at what times this bridge is rotate cause I'd love to do some photographs of the structure from unique perspective :) I have no idea where to look for it.

  • Thanks 53to63 for visiting the site and for leaving a comment. Hopefully there will be a few more pleasant autumnal days for your trip. All the best.

  • Thanks ph0010421 for your visit. Your comment is much appreciated.

  • Good work, Greg. When I was a kid, standing on the bridge whilst it turned was the great fun.

I daresay health and safety rules prohibit it today.

  • Thanks for stopping by boo66

  • aquEduct!!!

Great footage. rare to see it used these days.

My grandmother lives in Urmston, and I have vague memories (as an early '70s toddler) of getting 'bridged' at the Barton swingbridge and being very excited if we were at the front of the queue!

  • Thanks for comment. It still remains a truly marvellous feat of engineeing, even today, and it is to be regretted that 'being bridged' is, unfortunately' an increasingly rare experience now. Thanks again for comment.

  • Great video, the first and only swing aqueduct in the world!

  • Thank you for viewing the video. I am not really sure what the song is to be honest. It was a free sample already loaded onto the hard disk when I bought my computer. I do know, however, that the song accmpanying the steam rally video is Beethoven's ninth symphony
