@PtownMoto It would help the economy A LOT actually. If they regulate it and tax it, the government would be getting a lot of money. The alcohol companies and tobacco companies would not lose that much money because people are still going to drink and smoke cigarettes. Also, even if you have a medical card, the DEA can still put you into prison because it is not a Federal Law, it is a State Law.

I love that story where the woman said she had siezures every day, and she took pill after pill, prescription after prescription and it did nothing for her! You can't force someone to stay at home for fear of being arrested or lose their job with a simple piss into a cup within a 30 time limit and call them lazy. Schools will kick you out for smoking weed or having weed which disrupts the learning process. Colleges won't want to enroll someone who gets arrested for weed and student loans are out of reach for someone like that. 1 joint has a profit margin of around $6.00 due to the risk of producing something that is ilegal. Legalize marihuana and remove the hardcore individuals from the equation and replace them with the government. The alcohol companies and tobacco companies would not lose that much money because people are still going to drink and smoke cigarettes. If all the money and man-hours dedicated to marijuana prohibition were reallocated to help stop heroin, crack, and meth... we'd have a lot less heroin, crack, and meth. And wouldn't that be nice? You can't overdose on marijuana. Marijuana also has a very very low statistical relation to car accidents (very few car accidents are caused by cannabis alone.)

Schools will kick you out for smoking weed or having weed which disrupts the learning process. I think that our government does not have the planning skills to pull of a stable legalized system where marijuana can be purchaced under a safely regulated system.
California is a good example of unregulated legalization.
It is not okay for people to continue to abuse drugs, but if they are legalized, the government has a big opportunity to give lots of help in that area. But if they aren't going to, than they shouldn't bother legalizing it.

One of the main reasons marijuana will never be legalized is that no government can simply market it. If I could grow enough tobacco in my backyard that I didn't have to buy a pack every 2 days, I would. Why go to the store to buy milk if you own a cow?

1 joint has a profit margin of around $6.00 due to the risk of producing something that is ilegal. Legalize marihuana and remove the hardcore individuals from the equation and replace them with the government. Then you will have a multi-billion savings in reducing the need for law enforcement and a tax windfall for the government. Not to mention it will beef up law enforcement personnel in areas where they are lacking in numbers. Sounds like a win win situation to me.

how can you compare incest to smoking herbal plants? It's like comparing an elephant to a mouse, sure they have some things in common but it comes down to they are two completely different things. And it's not harmless, nothing is. But it is natural, thats not a "claim". Bud has been bashed nearly it's entire existence by many factors, not just by law/medical professionals (although, police & doctors use it too). Liquor industries have had a big play, you'll find that pot smokers tend to drink a lot less. As well as family and corporate ties. Weed makes you lazy. Not everyone but the majority. Ever heard of a factory/lab/plant actually processing weed into rocks/powders etc? Weed you CAN "just grow it, pick & eat it" but most people prefer to smoke it instead :). Why do you think it is so easy to obtain? You can grow it practically anywhere.

But you cannot compare alcohol and tobacco to marijuana... those two substances alone attribute to hundreds of thousands of deaths every year. Marijuana does not obviously. Interesting how marijuana users claim it is harmless and natural. Then why do almost all countries in the world ban it? ALL drug users use drugs and alcohol for a reason. It creates a chemical, emotional and physical effect. So just because some people break the law for their own benefit is no reason to legalize marijuana. What if users of other drugs can prove medicinal qualities of their choice drugs, should we lagalize them too? We've seen the damage alchol and tobacco create.why allow more?

1) The average pot smoker uses maybe a couple times a week. Most ciggarette smokers smoke about a pack a day, so the increased tar is irrellevant.
2)Suicide rates are actually lower for pot smokers. Drop out rate is about the same.

valerie corral, i understand what you are goin through. i, myself am epileptic and have mostly uncontrolled seizures. when i smoke marijuana, i can go for about 2 years before i have another fit, without it i go for about 12-20 hours between them. i am currently living in a state where its illegal(even medical) and i have to do it illegally. i support legalization, and i also know it is a drug that should only be used by adults. besides, at how well our "drug war" is doing?

When the govenment says marijuana has no medical benefits they are commiting fraud. Marijuana should be legal but I think sometimes people overexaggerate the need for marijuana. When marijuana supporters overexaggerate so much I feel that they are commiting fraud much like the government does. Take Angel Raich for example. What is her story? Would she really die without marijuana like she stated in this video? I would have liked to hear more from her story because I wasnt convinsed.
