apparently water landings are common, i don't see how they could be completely deadly, it floats, and if a pilot NEEDS to land in water he's not gonna do a nose-dive so not much would break to cause a sink...
Sitting on that wing waiting, I would just be pissed my luggage got wet and i'm gonna be late for work.
Yes, it is the time to "believe in miracles" and thank goodness for the crew members that were able to stay calm and remember their past training manuevers. Wonderful work, folks. And to the airline stewardess' fantastic job in keeping all calm, in the treachous icy waters. Wow, it took a large amount of folks to bring back a miracle to New York, since 9/11. None of this could be a miracle if people did not believe it could be done. Way to go, and koodles to ALL involved. Blessings to all.
What a way to end retirement! ~ Landing the biggest glider in the world without floats right down the middle of the Hudson River! With a triple gold star rating this is the best Captain in the world! After 3 decades with U.S. Airways and lot's of military training he saved everybody. We love you!!! Thank God for U.S. Airways picking the best of the best! We're also military and know what it takes to get the job done. High five to the Captain you did an exceptional job and so did your crew!

it didn't land as such though did it. if it made a succussful 'normal' landing, people wouldn't need to be rescued
