  • In a word "Genius", never failing since 1980, never will fail....HAIL HAIL Heaven 17

  • fuck yeah his guy have awesome voice.... very nice

  • TODAY - YESTERDAY - TOMORROW =

    HEAVEN 17 !

  • This is so awesome ... Hey Greg, thank you so much for spoiling my life so much :D

  • Wow, this is even better than original. Awesome dub feeling.

  • Fantastic song, really could do without the back up singers.

  • Nice. He still has a great voice. Great group. Never liked Ware's silly lefty politics though. I could see why Phil found him tedious.

  • SHEFFIELD!

  • Love this track ...hope to see them in Brighton Nov..Glenn and Martyn on a recent TV documentary on the 80'S real genuine blokes top act

  • Heaven 17, an amazing band and should've been bigger than they were! Penthouse & Pavements was such a great album

  • Thanks for posting this!

The Adrian Sherwood remix on Detox/Retox is one of very few that stand the test of time.

    This is a great version.

  • this song is on theCD penthouse and pavement.....great cd . i'd suggest adding it to your collection :-) i love this version. wish they would have toured the states :-(

  • Glenn has a nice voice!!!

  • love this version. Great track, Thanks for posting:)

  • This is the first time I heard this song and must say its really good! I love the ska feel in this song!!

  • Have u heard the original yet/

  • Most surreal place i ever played this on nuclear quick reaction alert at RAF Laarbruch germany back in 86 Penthouse and Pavement and The Luxury Gap kept me sane down the falklands

  • tell me more!

  • I love his voice! Love this bandddddddddd~

  • how come i never heard this song???

  • love this song and this version especially

  • I have the original B-side recording of this from a 7" ex jukebox record. Its a bit knackered but still convays the power of the first recording. I will copy it off tape and plonk it up here soon.

  • Really good live version,

    A D = Assured Destruction! = Not Good!

  • One of their best songs...I love it live will have to cover this track... This is such a powerfull number

  • im totally insane about this song. some of their songs define the new wave for me

  • A club I used to go used to play it in Soho. This was probaly one of their best songs they recorded...

  • A good live version, considering back in the 80's they did'nt play live very often.

  • Fantastic song, great live version apart from the wailing backing singers. Lose them and it would be perfect. Great to see them performing live.

  • This is a very disappointing version. OK the album version was bleak but this is no better I hate the backing vocals.

P&P remains a very good album. Very evocative ; takes me back to the winter of 81.

Overall the Heaven 17 on Y'tube selection is poor, there's little good or bad on here . Wheres Sunset now - And thats no lie

Play to win - This is mine - How men are - CBTWOI and many more.

Were going to live for a very long time and i 'd like a lot more of H17 on here.

  • (I agree with you there. But how can we possibly improve it? There's no 'data' mate)

  • Fuck that, this is an amazing live version. Gregory's vocals are straight out of the studio sessions for Penthouse and Pavement. I'm disappointed the album cut isn't on youtube, but this is a MORE than suitable substitute.

  • I'd like to say since that comment there is lots more of Heaven 17 on YT and it's all excellent. Loving their music as much as long ago.

  • Nice post, I used to love Heaven 17 back in the day, Penthouse and Pavement is one of the greatest albums ever.

    Thanks.

  • Hey!

Naturally, it's time to celebrate your fate. Take the M our of 'MAD'.

    Let's all make a BOMB!

Just a thought. An English thought

  • great song... live or recorded!

  • the advantage of youtube is: everybody is able to post a commentary.

the disadvantage of youtube is: everybody is able to post a commentary.

What a great video to those, who love and lived at the 80s, what challenge to those, who where born after..., try to talk with grown ups, and get pocket-money...

What a great version of this song.

To all kids: Listen to: fascist groove song, than you will know how we hate fascism or racism

  • This song is amazing when recorded, as do all of Heaven 17's songs. However this is boring and I can see why people call it shit if they've never heard the recorded version

  • Absoloutley agree with you mate, some groups work better on cd rather than live. Human League arefar superior im afraid as they got the sound Live. This is a bit dull, but the album version is fantastic

  • all shut up this is class no come backs it just is ..end off...cheers h17

  • I can only imagine you who dis the boys are way too old to get the 80's feeling! If you ever saw them live, or felt the beat of Temptation..........I LOVE HEAVEN 17...have done for the past umpteen years..Glenn you have not lost it babe!

  • who the fuck put this ballsac music on youtube?

  • Your mother.

  • It's true, she did.

  • WTF i was looking up how to make a bomb and this crap came up hhahah i say you need to bomb him basterd sucks

  • Genius. Heaven 17 are great songwriters.

  • NO!

    big no on that one.

    ah.

  • how the fuck can u like this shit music?? comon how fucking rubish is it?

  • wtf!! is this shit i put in how to make a bomb not (shit music) hip hop is music not this u fucking nobs!

  • ok gonnastop yea right there hip hop isnt music, and dont get me rong but im not tryin to stand up for what ever the hell theese guys are playing but atleast they have the brain capasity to think up chord progretions, lyrics, tuning and how to play instoments and put it all together in a live show. not rip beats off from other artist becuz you cant be creative for one second and actully do something productive instead of making up new words to exsprese how "balla" or "gansta" or straight up thug

  • If you were older than 12 years old, you'd know the original version of this song and who Heaven 17 are: pioneers of electronica before that rip-off junk you prefer listening to.

  • they still are more creative then the mdiocrity today love that crazy discordant sound in the background thats what they did in the 80s took risks

  • Trippy

  • recorded version xootube buy penthouse annd pavement cd

  • is that ween!!!

  • Where's a recorded version?

  • For you, Detox/Retox on Eagle records, 1998. Also, Penthouse & Pavment LP, 1981. For the knob polishers, some other B-side single in 1981-82.

check the new music for free on the H17 website

  • If you look closely you will see a sign for the Sound Republic, in London, (not Sheffield) where this was shot. I was there. A great song and a great gig!

    Patrick

  • im shure hes not gay........pshhhhh hahahahahah!!!

  • gay or not - that's not the question.. he is really great !! (and, of course, gay ;-)

  • I'd forgotten this brilliant track!

  • thanx for posting this tops

  • bring it all back! brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

  • simply the best

  • Is it me or does Glen Gregory look a bit like Ade Edmundson?

  • the lead singer glen is ma moms cousin!

  • Why the Heaven 17 start making a wonderfull album like Penthose and Pavement and why they turn into bullshit? Now, what is this? They try to Retroelectronic a good song from Penthouse and Pavement? great ideia! But... what is this? and why that girls singing like that?

  • I see your point (being a long time fan). The thumbs downs are obviously from - well - people who never got it.

  • for some reason he creeps me out..and im not meaning to be rude.

  • Brilliant band - much underated.

Anyone know what the b-side to the "fascist groove thang " extended 15 inch was called ?

I loved that song - can't find it anywhere ( or even its title)

  • I want to say "Decline in the West" along with a "fascist groove thang- dub"

  • So Good !

  • This is my favorite heaven 17 song, great version of this song but they could has lost the back up singers.

  • I totally agree - I guess Pink Floyd's singers were sacked that year:>):>):>))

  • Quite Like this version in a Dub Stylee sort a way

  • Your info's a little wrong - this (along with your 'Play To Win' video) is actually taken from a one-off gig at the Sound Republic in London from March 1999. It's available on the How Live Is CD.

  • H17 sound wave!

This sound republic live version is well dubbed out 2000 remix.

  • yay Team Heaven 17!
