Rather than engage in some debate about religious dogma, why not try to see the intention which is for all peoples to live in harrmony. I don't understand what you are arguing about. The whole idea is about peaceful productivity, not to continue the dialog that divides. God doesn't _belong_ to only some who have appointed yourselves right thinkers. Another facet of the idea is people don't have to change what they believe in as God but to live together on the planet with differences.
Wow, no wonder you got the backing of those in the west! You may have had a 'good' intention, but it seems in your eagerness and your own internal battles (avoiding scholarly input!), you've managed to go against the most essential message that Islam is distinct for: Tawheed! The belief in true Monotheism! You make it worse than even the misguided christiantiy by splitting God's attributes into 99 created beings while the whole intrinsic message of Islam is that God is One!
@Ajooji I just call it as it is! It seems a lot of effort is going into making (i.e. twisting) Islam in so many ways in order to appeas to the non-Muslims! I know It's more complicated than this given that there is a significant Muslim presence in the 'west' today, which only helps to misdirect the efforts into 'appeasement' rather than reflecting the true and sound teachings of Islam with regards to dealing with 'others' and to rectify the problems causing Muslims to reside in the 'west'
@BuCrescent - That is extremely a narrow and negative statement. Allah which derives from Illah, which means worship of one deity, illah also being a jewish root word, all points to the fact we all worship one God.
@BuCrescent God has mirads of attributes, because from our perspective (man) we view its behaviour from different viewpoints in our lifes, history and issues, for example, elohim, elshaddai, edonai (as represented in judeo-christian), it also expands into islam
@BuCrescent GodTheProvider, GodTheWarrior, GodTheProtector, it goes on and on. God is indeed One, there is only One True God that made heaven and earth, not two or more, God is not divisible, but this does not remove the fact that this all powerful, all omnicience, omnipresence can be confined to only one attribute (behaviour)
@kaluchijioke What are you talking about? I don't think you are addressing the conern here. The problem (Islamically) is in starting with intentionally taking the attributes of God and distributing them over created beings.. it is very disrespectful and sickening. (no problem linguistically in some attributes that can be used, although one of the 99 names is exclusive to God: AlRahman and cannot be used even with "Al" to refer to a creature)
@BuCrescent how can it be disrespectful and sickening?, how is it you view God, a vengeful/sadistic/unreasonable spirit being who is out to make sure you don't understand him? The Spirit of God, was put in Man before he became a "Living Being". Each one of us carries within him an attribute (His Spirit) of God, it is your choice to make manifest this "Kingdom within You" for you are His Temple.
I'm proud to be an Indonesian, because of Fatah, the others also can transport easily and quickly...
