muzikman, Your VCR is jumping back and forth between the HiFi audio (loud) and linear audio track (soft). Play it again on a decent professional VCR in good shape. If the audio still jumps, select only the linear audio track.( Pro machines often have this feature.) At least the audio will be consistent all the way through. Not nearly so annoying to listen to.
sad about the audio; otherwise, it's an amazing historical document of two of the best that's ever been. This song itself is something of a historical document, being among the most famous of american fiddle tunes, and very similar to Bonaparte's Retreat. Battle Of New Orleans is an amazing piece of folklore and the best/funniest/most NSFW verses were left out. (o' course if you left in only the scatological verses, it'd still take an hour to sing)
Got to work with Jerry Reed while stationed in Korea on a special assignment. He was fantastic not only to the troops, but to those who worked for him. A really talented and fantastic man.
Classic stuff for sure! I love how Jerry covers Glenns mouth to mute out the ''HELL'', grassroots censorship on stage! A great moment in televised music history....take care....
Damn, I love the tune and I love jerry reed, thanks for sharing 'cause I was wanting a jerry reed's version and now it's done...it give ideas to make a guitar picking version of this tune!
@GaryConnJr.... the banjoist was Larry something or other.... if my memory serves, Larry McNeely? He was a regular on the Glen Campbell show. Real deadpan guy.

You would almost swear these two were brothers. Indentical guitarists, almost the same singing style...
