I was watching the Sing Off and my dads says "Hey have you ever heard his music" me "nope" he takes out his iPhone and plays this song and the grin could not of away
My only guess was that they couldn't blur out my face and they were nervous to sell this video without my permission to do so. I could totally be making that whole thing up, but I just can't think of any other reason why they tried to contact me. Unless they just wanted to call me and tell me how bad of a dancer I was and ever since they saw me dance, they decided to give up dancing for the rest of their life! great show. They played Brick and messed up and completely redid it for tv though
so I was about 19 yrs old then, & about 2 years later my mother calls me and say's,"Ryan, some lady Mary called from west 54th street and wanted to speak to you." I said,"What she say?!" She said,"nothing, just that she wanted to talk to you & left her number." So I called and it was sessions at west 54th, but no one by the name of Mary worked there apparently. For years i wondered why they tracked me down, and then I finally saw this video and saw my ridiculous dancing & my face all over it!
So then I called one of my friends and said,"call this number and see if you win(because I wasn't sure if you had to be on the mailing list to win). So he did, and he win him and a guest too! So 5 of my friends called, all allowed to bring a guest, so 10 of us went. That is why we were all dancing together in the back. The crowd was full of 2 people parties so I guess they were nervous and uptight maybe? regardless, it was amazing. Btw, taping was in Manhattan. But here's the weird part
Here you go mimickick: I was on Ben Fold's mailing list before they started getting big and then a few years later, I received a letter in the mail that said, "the 1st 60 callers to call this phone number will win a free concert to see Ben Fold's Five. So I freaked out, called, and they said, "you and a guest can join the Session's at West 54th St. live taping of Ben Fold's Five, which will have less than 150 people there." More to come, out of space.......
You know what the sad part is, I was the guy dancing in the background! That was one of the best shows I have ever been to, and I was annoyed that everyone was sitting down and not having fun so I started a little dance party! I was one of the guys with my hat on backwards and trying to pull off front hand springs(Don't know what I was thinking!!!). I just searched to hear these guys and I saw your posting about the guy dancing and I just started laughing. Great show and some cool stories.
@ryansingermusic1 You're that dude? Aww! Please tell everyone when and where this was recorded because we're curious (and/or too lazy to look it up anywhere else)
@RHCPDMBxxx33 This is true. Still, there is NO ONE that looks like they actually ENJOY BEING THERE. It's kinda annoying to see Ben jumping around like a monkey on the keys, Sledge and Darren holding it down hardcore in the rhythm section, but NO ONE IS HAVING FUN IN THE CROWD. I don't care if you're on TV! That's more reason to have some fun. Seriously. This show looks like a drag. I see feel bouncing, but that's it. Ugh.
@StripMyWorldAway In the video of "Underground" from the same show there are people dancing and doing backflips and shit all over the place. The Powers That Be probably told the crowd to calm down before they broke someone.
@ShaiTan931 Haha awesome, I'm going to go watch that now. And that's really lame that they told them to calm their shit. Why don't they just let the kids have fun MAAAN!? /sarcasm.
It reminds me of copying and pasting the sparknotes of Canterbury Tales into Word, and I was singing along to the songs I knew from the Live album, and dropping my jaw to the ones I didn't.
haha this song is about his penis...

It could just be me..but I think the end of this song sounds VERY similar to a section of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue
