Great song. I feel ashamed to say, atho. being a big fan of indie in general (The Fall, Magazine, Wire, etc) and more recent U.S. alt-rock (Wilco, Lambchop, Sparklehorse), had never really heard any GS records. Can anyone suggest other 'greats' of theirs, albums to start with, best comp?
prøv lige at tjekke the Giant Sand ud her: allinmusic.tv
Det er et nyt musiksite, der minder lidt om den engelske "From the basement". Bare med danske kunstnere. Er vidst lige startet, men jeg spår det en stor fremtid.
@fallenpumpkinhead these guys were owesome on stage ! saw them in the 90's 3 times back in belgium . Now, the other part of giant sand is the genius band " calexico " ...which is worth listening too ! cheers
Beautiful song even 9 years on...used to overlook chore of enchantment but now i know i was wrong...go buy it and provisions too...and love songs...and glum if you can track it...regards to you all and thanks to Howe for the beauty
this is what "alt" "country" is all about. Howe - you and the guys are the pioneers - the last of the really great cowboys. fuck the Eagles - with their lux pay checks for mediocre music, and ugly covers on the Rolling Stone, with a half ass band. YOU are a beautiful and talented man. You and your kind, define what we, who love this "genre" ,
and the dusty, lovely, melodic sound you gave us, still search the web for - in hopes that one day you will grace us with coming to our towns.
This is a great video, I'm glad I stumbled across it. The song and the players rock, I dug Giant Sand when John & Joe where apart of it. Alas we all move on and Calexico had their own album(s) to do. Howe has done fine without them and that's a good thing. I recently got broad band, it's awesome to view all the Howe and giant sand videos, Howe keeps my world a rockin'. It's nice to find some folks who feel the same. Thank you litterbox music for all the great posts.
I absolutely love this man. And I am picky. what a great artist. My favorite song in the world. Thank you Howe. Please do a show in Orlando! some of us down here love good music.
Simply beautiful and rather sad. Those were the days, with the guys from Calexico in the band. Of course, the video was never played on MTV. They have no room for REAL artists like Helb and his friends. Thanks muchas for posting.Greetings from El Paso!
This song and this video is great! Howe Gelb is one of the greatest!!! It brings back good memories from Tucson and Arizona, where I traveled for 3 weeks this summer, too. I love it. Love Howe! From Tor-Egil, Norway
Thanks a lot! Bought the 1st Giant Sand album sometime time in 85 and been a Gelbarite ever since...Coming from Europe its difficult to understand what the Wild West is all about...as seen in this clip...

John and Joe don't even play on this one! I believe it's some guys from Kevin Salem's crowd. IIRC
Giant Sand have a new great record out 'Provisions'! Get it!

What Cezzium said.
Shiver is one of the great overlooked songs in the history of songdom.
I bow in Howe's general direction and look forward to his return to Chicago, whenever that may be.
