subaru is 10x better in the snow and mud been any truck. if you had lockers on the truck in the truck is better but subaru has actual all wheel drive where a truck has 2 wheel drive. 1 in the front and 1 in the rear
You kno i gotta say i love subaru there are some that kick ass. My cuz has a 2010 wrx and he has 2k into it for mods and its mean but all these high talkers here should be careful cuz my 95 chevy k2500 would pull a little subi in a tug and my tbi 350 v8 would eat these cars in any race.
Now got a lift kit in my forester and some large A/T tyres, she goes almost anywhere now :D When mudding the other day after work and pulled a toyota hilux out. The look on the drivers face was awesome when my little subaru got him out!
and my oil pan has dents in it :) just make sure u change the tranny fluid in these things every 30k cause subarus really like their tranny fluid change, or they develop a nasty annoying torque bind problem
I have a '98 and I love it! I hope you folks remember that the tranny solenoids are very close to the pan and one dent is going to screw up their operation!
@elrodjones really? hopefully mine is ok cause my tranny has a crease down the center of it from bottoming it out. but i went in backwoods trails that was almost straight up and nothing but giant rocks to drive on. and ditches that were like 2 feet deep i was driving across. and mud puddles that went above the fog lights. i <3 my outback
Hey new subaru convert here I have the exact colour as the one in 2:00 except mine would have climb that slope easier, his tires must have been worn out, Mine has a switch on the dash where you can switch on/off the awd i drive mine mostly in fwd i have not seen another with this feature I know u can stick a fuse in a little thing under the hood that says fwd to disengage the awd for towing, has any one got that switch on the left side of the dash near driver door to disable awd let me know
@yappinc That switch, as far as I am aware, is not something that would have come stock with your vehicle. I, at one point, wired up a switch on my center console to that fuse slot you are talking about under the hood, so that I could turn on/off AWD. The only time I did it, though, was in the winter when I wanted to see how hard it would be to get around in FWD. It's not good to leave the car in that mode, as it sends 100% of the power to the front wheels, which the car is not designed for.
a true testiment to one of two ricer cars i would ever own this a toyota landcruser or 4x4 truck or 4 runner old ones of the trucks these outbacks are nice cars with flate fours in them
I apologize for that post. I was using speech-to-text on my phone and it messed it up a little bit.

Stang70Fastback88 1 year ago
@yappinc You should not drive the car in that mode all the time, as there is no real advantage to this, only disadvantages.
1. You will dear the front drivetrain out faster, or (according to Subaru of America) twist the front driveshafts.
2. You will not have AWD when you need it (e.g. pulling out in heavy traffic on a wet road) which can be unsafe.
3. You are NOT getting better mileage in FWD, even though you might think so.
