Ahhhhh the memories, this game aint dead yet? Lolz...well if WoW is still living then I shouldn't be surprised. Honestly back in 2005 (when I played) was it's glory years..after that it started losing popularity vs WoW cuz of unpopular changes to the game that was making it more and more like WoW so people said 'fuck it, why play this then if they try to make it so much like WoW play WoW' and thus they fucked themselves..I'm guessing the population of this game must be VERY low nowadays.
Personally i think Lineage 2 looks a bit better than this (especially animation wise) , but yeah the older MMO's don't look outdated, ppl are just used to all the single player games out there that go for graphics instead of gameplay :(
@L2Nuku exactly, MMORPG aren't even supposed to be about crazy graphics, otherwise a lot of people wouldn't be able to play them. They would all need sexy gaming rigs with GTX 560s lol.
I want a fun game to play whilst I wait for Diablo 3/ Guild Wars 2, I'm so bored of GW1 right now. How does this game stack up against the major titles?
@GaxAngel I've quit and come back to it 2 or 3 times which is more than I can say for other MMO's...
It's getting a little old but the graphics engine is definitely more up to date than GW1. GW2 should be pretty cool. Playing Star Wars Old Republic at the moment
@GaxAngel Its very fun. There are a lot of servers and players, tons of races and classes, fun quests and storylines, great graphics and raids/instances.
they should do an mmo war where they take wow rift eq2 lotro and all the other ones and just let the player enter each world and fight the other worlds ...... given wow would need to up there graphics... a lot but i think it could happen and i would love to crush wow as an assassin from eq2
@goodvocalcover I'm running an Nvidia GTX 480 and an i7 CPU. No third party mods, just have the graphics turned up pretty high. Also I turned off the user interface to pull all the icons off to record the video
Dam those graphics are awsome> My biggest regret in life is quiitin Everquest to play wow if only i didnt make the mistake like everyone else did and instead i stuck with EQ i'd be a happy man.
it was never low lol; Eq2 has a huge player base and tons of content o.0; you just have to pick the right server. And people wondering why they never see anyone; well thats because most players are in cities in their own homes out in the game or probably the most in their guild halls. The game has a Mentor system so high lvls can always be found playing with low to mid lvl content.
@PlaceboC6 I rember when i started to play EQ2 about two years a go when i got my new gameing desk top computer and i wen't see the Sinking sands area,It had a good sreaming pop but over a few months of game play it started to get quiet but it is saide to see such a fun game to end up like that.
@PlaceboC6 It's fine now, since it went f2p. Almost all servers are on high load. Check out the new EQ2 website for more information. They have a list there with the server-load.
@CaptainViral84 hey u know how PlaceboC6 said that the 2011 population is not so high, he's wrong. Since the game just went free to play the player base (population) just BURST! Even more people are roaming around fighting, questing, and man in cities, u dont know how packed. So i suggest u try the game.
@CaptainViral84 They've done a server merge at the begining of the year, and there are plenty of folks around. I would suggest the Crushbone server unless you're an RPer.
@CaptainViral84 Not bad, at least it's not full of idiots. Imagine an MMO with minimal trolls and people that actually go out of their way to help you out! EQ1 and EQ2 have the best communities out of any mmorpg IMO.
@CaptainViral84 doh just realized that you posted that 9 months ago lol. If you haven't tried it yet it has gone f2p....it's kinda gimped unless you pay monthly though. You can only have so much money per level, not every race/class, restrictions on spells etc etc. Still a lot of fun though if you are just starting fresh.
@Mattebubben That's what I hear, but I think I'd have to create a new character on one of the free servers. Don't know that my monthly charge is going to stop if I stay where I'm at.
@PlaceboC6 for free you get, 4 races, 8 classes, 80 lvlcap, 5 gold cap per level, 3 races per pack to unlock $750. $10 more for a status upgrade which allows you more gold and more than 2 bag slots, it allows you 3 i think. then you can pay $15 monthly to get more features, the only way to access what you have on your live servers is to pay the YEARLY fee of $200. so for $15 a month you have less than what you have now, also i hear its $35 to take your character to free servers
@Mattebubben The game is not free, they just released a free version of the game called EQ2 extended. EQ2 Live still costs 15 a month, but EQ2 extended is like a new game that runs side by side EQ2 live, on a new server etc.
What do you find to be the biggest drain on graphics? I just built a new computer with an Intel I7 940 processor, Asus P6T SE X58 Mobo, 6g DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM, Ati Radeon HD 5850 1gb GDDR5 gpu, a solid state drive with 200mb read 160mb write and on max settings I still get hitching.
Your specs aren't too terribly different than mine. Eq2 is very processor intensive so that contributes a lot to the fact that it can still make a modern system jitter. I play at the highest setting with multicore cpu, shader 3.0, and gpu shadoes enabled. This works great in many zones but there are a couple that kill my frame rate. Nek forest and any other zone with a high number of objects (trees mainly) seem to cause a dip in frame rate. Nek forest is almost unplayable
