lesson to be learned here, check ur map first an don`t rely on sat navs, and as for u polish morons, well now we all no it`s u retards that live by ur sat navs and it`s u stupid polish who get stuck most of the time, had one of u stupid polish stuck 3 days near where i live, trying to get down a farm track looking for a factory, o course yeah, factories are always down farm tracks are`nt they, stupid fcuking retarded polish tossers, we don`t want u in our country.
@eezy1972 I guess that was just my way of saying, "Learn how to back up a trailer." If you can get in, you can get out, if only you know how to operate your truck.
@ShenFromTerraTraba I would imagine that in the UK there are places that you might get into this situation easily. As for backing back out if you get into it,Driving forward is a lot easir than trying to back out and yes you can get yourself into places you may not be able to back out of afterward. I drive in the US and have been for 26 years and havent put myself in that situation but over there I can see it happening.I always go by one rule,If you cant see it dont drive into it.
@marek1300 its rich that someone from Poland should be saying, stupid English Drivers, you should take a look at the amount of Polish drivers we have here in the UK causing accidents that appear in our local papers every week, and whats really funny is that most of our transport companies are only paying the Polish drivers less than half of what the British drive gets, now who's stupid!!
@anewbeggining21 Well the trailer was probably empty so the crane is hardly having to work hard lifting max 8t is it? P.S that's a fast idle, not idle.
@Steebod lol yea prolly empty. If it were full then it would be closer to 30ton and perhaps a bit to much for a crane this size (80metric ton, or100USton) to handle at that reach. As for the engine speed. Yes, while the crane portion is running and lifting the engine isn't much more then a slightly fast idle. Definitly not reving it up much like an excvator or a Grove or Terex crane would.
@anewbeggining21 If the poor bastard had a load on he could have probably got back up the hill in reverse. Here the trailer could legally be around 36t. 44t max here with 6 axles. What's the max weight allowed in Canada?
@Steebod I'm not sure really. I am not a truck drive nor a crane operator. I just know some stuff about them because its a bit of a hobby you could say. Are you talking in Metric or imperial tonnage? Even tho were supposed to use metric tons in Canada most people still use the imperial system. That being said I will guess that your average tandem rear axle tractor and triaxle trailer would carry close to 40 or 45 ton. Depending on the tractor and trailer specs then you can carry over 60 ton
Im class1 driver, It's a bloody nitemare sometimes. Todays trucks are built for long distance motorway work in my opinion. Yet some of the places you get sent to are unbelievable. Usually because the run sheet comes of a computer, and the data clerk is a computer whizzkid who doesn't know one end of the country from the other. Without truck experience usually!
Can't help feeling sorry for the driver who probably got a painful ear-boxing for that little incident. And I'd say it took a good few hours of reversing and maneouvering before they had to admit defeat and get the crane in. Wonder was he following directions from his satnav to end up there.
Fantastic crane operation, well set up on the ground which was not good. Bet a few people were worried as the trailer "flew" over the houses, but fantastic job well done.
I feel fortunate to be an American truck driver, where we have lots of wide open spaces. But in Chicago, where I mostly drive, I've seen plenty of trucks get messed up by mis-marked low bridges.
I`m a trucker so i have to say we have all got stuck. er but this was unlucky. can any crane drivers tell me if that size crane could have lifted the trailor loaded? that would have been 36 ish tonne or for a gray & adams fridge trailor 10.5 tonne empty.
That particular crane is a Liebherr LTM1080(80 metric tons/ 100 US tons). With it being the size it is I am guessing the trailer was empty. If the trailer was full a crane in the 150-200 US ton range would of been a more likely choice I think, although those streets look pretty tight so they might of been able to use the same crane, however its capacity would of been almost maxed out at that range if the trailer was loaded.
cheers mate, i`ve just looked at the video again and you know your stuff. the truck was empty no question because the 3rd axle on the unit was in the lifted poisition. i.e. running empty. thanks
"Eat more chips"...might be an indication that he is a local delivery driver,(I said might). But Mary, come on with "take all the trucks off the road" shit. I know your chosen profession is a necessity, or so we think. I'd imagine most are or we're so lazy we think they are. Shit happens, too bad, but the driver f**ked up. It sounds like MAD has a little experience and has a good remedy. Some people are lazy or don't have the experience, so the cost goes up on the local chip price. lol
I'm with MaryGrace on this,it is so easy to turn down a road and suddenly find that after a mile or so it gets all too narrow or theres a sharp bend thats got hedgerows or banks either side. The driver may have not been a local and may have just been taking the shortest and obvious route on the map.
Ive Been a class 1 driver myself & like many come across some tricky situations but nothing quite like this, most of you who've commented here have probably never driven a class 1 vehicle or travelled much further then your own town, as i say its very easy for people to make nasty comments towards the driver, i say lets take all the trucks off the roads for a few months till the shelves run dry in the shops & see how long it is till the general public plead with lorry drivers to go back to work.
I drove Class 1"s for 20 years, had to Reverse half a mile in Germany due to a low Bridge. But what i did learn was that when i started to feel the situation wasn"t right in tight lanes, i used to stop and WALK forward to check it out. Basically i would never go so far down a lane that i couldn"t reverse out off, and on Animal Feed delivering to Farms, we used to get some tight ol deliveries.
sat nav i bet probally a know it all truck driver i can get anywhere,im a class 1 driver but wouldnt attempt goin round those sort of lanes what a tosser i bet he got the piss ripped out of him by colleges and probally got fired too!good work to the crane driver.
gaw wat a donut this so called driver is!!! u should be able to sense when things are getting tight, i bet he is one of these drivers you can hear all over the ferry shouting his mouth off!! ahh well he is a real plonker!!! wat a great crane operater phew!!!
ha ha i used to ride my horse aroud there, they can not blame it on the sat nav he was delievering out at trematon so why didnt he just join the dual crrage way you can only just get a car down that hill, and he said he new the area its just stupid, i noticed that the post lady was watching, thanks for the video. they might learn not to go down there now.

Even if the trailer were empty, (which it probably was) being a freezer trailer it would still weigh nearly 15 metric tonnes.
