@gobotzoo this is because [with respect to Dan] his is a bit hit and miss like Van gogh and all geniuses - they just can't turn it on like your mainstreamers]. BUT, when they have a relaxed environment and they can carefully flow comfortable and get it right, man they hit the outer zone, the neoplace, the genospace. I know, I don't want to say who I am, but I'm one of them.
@gobotzoo it's difficult to replicate his vocal phrasing that's present on the record while he simultaneously has to keep up the song's strum pattern. dan's usual erratic but great lyrical explosions, starts and stops are very awkward in comparison to the hard and rigid strum pattern of the guitar.

His delivery seems here (and the two times I've seen him live) so strangely off. . .have to say I'm not such a big fan of his live shows
