  • It was not them, who took you out of the course, it was you my friend, who need more skills to gain. Sorry my friend, but it is a reality.

    Next time work even harder.

  • Nice vid!

Great point of of an exciting Criterium race.

Looks like the guy who went down either slipped on a wet spot, a metal street cover or had a blow out.

(If you can, tilt the camera up just a tiny bit for the next one!)

  • fuun cycling!!!!!!!

  • 18 dislikes? What's not to like? I mean besides the crashing and the getting pushed off the back?

  • Great commentary man!, What headcam are you wearing? the picture quality is very good.

  • That sure was escary.

  • that hurt to watch ... I crashed sunday night at a crit race we were in a breakaway with 3 to go and in turn 3 the guy in front of me rolled his tire off the rim and there was nothing i could do ): fractured elbow and wrist lets not forget road rash (: anyways good videos keep them coming!

  • @aj3071 Sorry about your crash, hope you get better soon. Thanks for watching.

  • @chavezcycling Thanks I got a few primes but crashing is just a part of racing! So what class is this? pro1/2?

  • @aj3071 pro 1 2

  • @chavezcycling nice do you guys do out of state races to?

  • @aj3071 no we just do florida

  • Thank you for your videos. I am a former racer trying now to get back into condition after a plane accident. Your videos are an inspiration. I know a few things about tactics and it is obvious you are a very strong rider.

  • @cbrock5000 Thank you. I hope to see you racing soon.

  • Is there any reason why you don't ride close the riders in front of you?

Are you scared or just a shit rider?

  • @campag1979 i don't ride close to the riders in front of me because, as you can see...they crash! And also in case you didn't notice, I was able to avoid the crash and stay on my 2 wheels. But thanks for the very insightful comment. Come ride with me and then tell me who is the shit rider.

  • I'm buying a camera before my next race. I got screwed so many times in races, (especially in Canada)

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chasing agaiiiiiin......Okay......Say ello to my little friend!!!!!! hahahaha Awesome commentary. Good escape too. Well done Joel.

  • good video thumbs up

  • good stuff!

  • Great video! Great commentary! We see. You didn't cheat.

  • Good Job, I felt like i was right there racing, Next time Im riding my bike I will remember "Work Hard you did it once U can do it again"

  • the guy on the wheel did crash into the bushes. its a little off camera but ya can tell the guy in the light green went up the sidewalk and was still in the process of turning when he was goin up the sidewalk. you see this guy in the light green standing with camera man (behind camera). However this racer maybe could have make it but why risk the safety of the camera-man and plus the guy on the ground? good escape

  • @chsspartan Good analysis! Thank you, you are the only one who cares about the safety of the cameraman - my body went through the only open space I could find at that moment.

  • You could of easily made that. If he was out 30cm maybe not.

  • LMAO Chavez que eso man chasing 2 times?! hahaha

  • This is the most times I've ever heard "breakaway" in a single video, lol

Anyway, I've never really agreed with the 'take a lap' rule. If I wreck, get wrecked or whatever, then it should be over for me. I just get back in the pack and finish the race if I can. I've just never figured it entirely fair for the guy that worked the whole race to win and avoided bad luck along the way.

  • He waits 60 seconds stopped "recharging batteries". He must be in moving

  • It's OK, here in Europe in criteriums if one has a real problem (flat, crash) the regulations allow one to wait for the group or field an get back in. So I believe this goes for the US too. And you were also seen by the race jury at the finish where you waited... so no problem. Good going!

  • hahaha "ohhmygoood that was e'scarrry"

  • You could of made it around the corner but you chose to take the safe option. Nothing wrong with that and you didnt gain anything from avoiding it so its not cheating and you shouldnt be dq'd

  • lol, nice commentary xD

  • He didn't go down. He didn't have a mechanical. Spin it however you want, but he cheated, plain and simple...

  • @joelederer

Yep. I got pinned to the curb behind a crash in a crit and did a track stand to stay up, but when I asked the official for a lap, he asked "Did you go down?" and then denied my request.

  • you could have made the turn. You need some skills

  • I think this video is great and humerous. You might (probably) had made it around the crash, but maybe not. Great footage and commentary.... thanks Joel....

  • Hello, this is Aman from you're local telephone and internet service providings...

  • @mattfaulkner haha, phonejacker! Don't think the Yanks'll get it.

  • @molyneux1000 LOL! As if! Might not have seen Phonejacker, but everyone has spoken to an internet telephone providings company assistant :D.

  • @mattfaulkner This is true.

  • dude you could of made it even if both the guys went down.use yur brakes buddy

  • Brilliant commentary :D

  • Ma che cavolo fa sto qua?? Gareggia con la telecamera in testa??

  • nice accent :D

  • sure that was unfortunate but you guys did get a big break. and you could have made it past de booshez haha. you guys should have got pizza LOL!

  • oh i god it en tha brekahway.. lmfao!!!!

  • Crashes are part of racing. If you get caught up in one you don't get to jump half the course and continue racing. What you should have done is go back where you went off course and continued from there. It is true that lance took a fairly good shortcut through a field to avoid a crash but he did not have to wait for the group to catch up. Coming back on course he lost a couple places. Also he didn't cut half the course. That being said I think you should take Bob Rolls place and do the c

  • great riding, man. i want this video to have my babies.

  • easily made that turn, follow the green jersey's line infront no problem

  • @ShokwaveProductions you have to remeber he just bridged a huge gap man he would not have been looking for a crash

  • I've watched the crash a half dozen times. From what I can feel looking at the video, it sure does look to me as if you could have made that turn. As soon as he starts going down, you should have been relatively hard on the brakes, and if you were, you could have made the turn. But you let the bike run at speed into the turn and onto the sidewalk. Of course, if 42 is on your wheel into the turn, maybe not brake hard. Still, no free lap for you!

  • No free lap for you!

  • @ClockCutter - Youre a douche. I'd be bloody livid if some fat uscf official tried to levy some bs on me for that jive! Taking a lap is always harder than just holding someone's wheel.

  • @robbyT1130 Heh. Chavez rode off the course! Taking a lap is not always harder than just holding someone's wheel. I've had ex-pros tell me when they're hurtin' they'd pull off, let air out a tire, go back to the pits to get back into the race. Got 3, 4, 5 minutes of rest.

  • Yeah, Jur0. I'm wondering why Chavez couldn't make that turn as well. Is it because he was cooked and looking for a way out? I mean, he gets close to the break at about 1:50, but he's 3 or 4 bike lengths away from completing the bridge until the crash at 2:21. Or, was he just hanging back to get the best vid shots? I've done that before. Ride up onto the sidewalk to avoid a crash. I thought I was a superstar. Then I'm like, Hmm. Did I bail out of cowardice or what?

  • You could have made that turn, I mean the guy on his wheel who fell made it and for him its even more suprising than you being second guy on the wheel, u saw it coming.

  • @Jur0 no, the guy on his wheel crashed into the bushes!

  • sorry bud, no free lap for that, you left the course intentionally, you did not go down, there was no damage to your bike.

  • A seep of water.. Yeah that helps.. Ahhhh.

  • great commentary ;D

  • this rules. you rule.

  • Joel, great video! You deserve the lap but what happend to Tony Con? Really? Why did he stop?

  • he was on my wheel

  • What happet Tony Con? I dunno? lol.....love the commentary

  • the commentary is awesome.. better than with music

  • very entertaining, 3rd time i watched it. loved the commentary

  • Great video. Commentary is unintentionally humourous, but thats cool.

  • i think that it is intentional.

  • Hilarious commentary Joel.

  • feel sorry for luis, great rider, good for you have the video, great commentary.

  • Yes, we are sorry for his crash, you never want to see that or be near it but the video is not to mock or make light of it, it is to defend myself from those that were accusing me and others of cheating. We wish him a speedy recovery.

  • Good video though, thanks for sharing.

  • No more commentary please, just put music to it.

  • I was just trying to defend myself from those guys that wanted to dq me! But tell me if the commentary didn't make you laugh a little...ok no more commentary ;(

  • Great and Great! I love commentary, it made me laugh a little.

  • what happen joel'? i dont know? that was a scary?
