  • actually the boot 7 seconds until the start sound

  • you mean 7 sec. from the time you pressed power

  • @robertking82881 you are right 7 seconds

  • search for 'channel9 uefi' on google to understand how this works

  • SSD HD installed, after the "OS" boot the system took 2 minutes to finish load everything !!

  • Tried it on several different computers including an Alienware M14x, Dell XPS M1530, HP Mini 1000, custom built desktop, and i got my friend to bootcamp it on his Macbook Pro. The boot times ranged from 2 seconds to 7 seconds. For some reason, the Macbook Pro and Alienware had the longest boot times. I'm not quite sure why...

  • Wow, they know to use video editor!

  • Wait 2 months and it will boot for about 30 sec.

  • Oh boy! I bet it'll start just as fast with all the programs an average user has!

Oh wait.. it won't.. will it.

And that interface ohwhoa. What are they even thinking?

  • I AM AMAZE

  • o boot demora mais que o windows pra carregar? #fuckyea para o windows 8 (y)

  • My windows xp- 4 seconds

  • @megad9tejl liar

  • so true i booted windows 8 dev edition in 5 seconds on my laptop

  • fakeee

  • everyone one should know about this... seeing as you thought of it

  • Lol, my PC with windows 7 booted that fast.. when it was freshly installed. ATM it takes a few more seconds. Its nothing new..

  • you noticed the video skipped during it, lol fake loading ftw?

it skips to the thing being fully loaded up

  • Just an hibernation...

  • @mrsoneji witout battery?

  • Comment removed

  • and how long until the programs actually work instead of leaving a cpu eating lag monster behind?

  • please edit the video: when she press the start button the pc explode!

  • Let it at least 5 minutes. loaded. The main thing is speed. Strange people at Microsoft are working.

  • more than likely a solid state drive installed. Still impressive!

  • Zdfff

  • Or is the computer hibernating? Hmm..

  • Whats the config of the laptop?

  • Its real!!!!! My PC boots in 3 seconds!! Windows 8 FTW!!!

  • I bet it takes 5minutes before anything starts working anyways

  • wow!

  • watch?v=wznucnoc-rY

    this is 8 sec !

  • Solid State Drive..

  • ...and how long does it take before the loading cursor disappears and the background services start uo?

Also, probably some sort of i5 Quad Core processor, 8 million GB ram and definitely a Solid State Drive.

I think SSDs are great, but at the moment they are WAAAAAY to overpriced for the general user group

  • ou heey no problem lets remove all security mechanisms.. security mechanisms? waaaait

  • Was it in hibernate state?

  • @Agust1337

    .. The battery was out.

  • NOT ALL PEOPLE have SSD... that's for sure..

  • But once you start installing your trusty antivirus, malware, spyware and all other suites that you need it will be more, like any other computer.

Besides I only boot my computer once a day, I care more about stability and interface that boot times.

  • hahahaha a half-hibernate boot. moblin boots with full start in 3 seconds.

  • hahahaha a half-hibernate boot. moblin boots with full start in 3 seconds.

  • A half-hibernate boot up...Nothing especial.

  • @kakha1974 Yeah but the way it boots up NORMALLY, uses some hibernation methods. This isn't a hibernation boot. Its how windows 8 boots, and thats cool still.

  • @Dparrey @Dparrey You think I don't know that? You're wrong. I just wrote here: half (semi)-hibernate boot. And you know, that's not very good as you think. And this lady in the video is funny. Removed battery lol...it does not say anything.

  • @kakha1974 Yes but it's the best of hibernation and a full shut down in one, I think that's cool? Also I think you're making it sound like more of a hibernate than it is, I wouldn't even call it a semi-hibernate as its just the kernel.

  • I'm not sure why everyone doesn't seem to believe this video. MS figured out it doesn't need to load the entirety of the OS on bootup. Get us a good starting point and a basic GUI going and that's all we need.

    Looking forward to windows 8.

  • U idiots it's not A fake boot it hasnt been cut. Look again because it's actually another shot after it's booted

  • if you say edited at 0:32, see again and again... at 0:32 booting processes is done at that time, and she is continue to speak about conclusion in different video take

  • Lol is it me or is that edited at 0:32

  • I call bullshit!!! Video is edited @ 0:32!

  • @metalmilitia89

The edit came AFTER the boot up. So no, it's not fake.

  • @junitono1 yes but if something like a BSOD happened right after the boot up then the 8 sec boot up is a wash. in any case they should have never edited it because it looks like they have something to hide.

  • RAID 0 on 3x vertex 3 sata3 SSD xD, and by the way, hybernate a pc is posible in every modern OS...

  • Wow, now rebooting for software installs, system updates, software uninstalls and BSODs wont seem like so much of a chore ;)

  • apple did this several years ago. still behind windows. lol

  • high-end hardware spec + custom BIOS + fresh, minimal install of Win 8 + previously hibernated

and.. there we go, that's all there is to it..

  • what is her notebook type?

    i also used hewlett packard

  • No way! That laptop should be New Super Computer!

    Hewlet Packard?

  • well SSD we meet again....

  • This computer has 25 GB of RAM and everything runs on a SSD.

  • i just hope that , that boot was on a normal 5400rpm drive and not an ssd

  • FAKE

  • @ImCausingTraumaZ You can't count POSTing as part of the bootup time. That's not dependent on the OS itself. That's dependent on the computer hardware and the BIOS. Some computers have minimal POSTing but others have long POST times. Windows 8 really does have a 3 second startup time in this video if you disregard POST time.

  • And will it fall down as fast as its booting?

  • I just want windows XP...

  • Windows 8 should run amazingly well on my Alienware laptop. I'm curious what the boot time will be on tablets though since tablets are puny in power compared to laptops and desktops. It'll be a decade before tablets can finally match laptops/desktops in power at a reasonable price. Lol Crysis on a tablet, I wonder if that day will ever come. And after 3 versions of Windows, I think Microsoft can finally change the system and startup sounds. It's kind of getting old now.

  • @Generalkidd why would someone play a full-fledged Crysis on a tablet anyway? true FPS experience needs keyboard + badass mouse + kickass mousepad + bigass monitor + stereo headset.

and there are a lot more versions of Windows other than XP / Vista / 7.

  • ugh can they change the system sounds please

  • wow if this boot's in 2 seconds imagine putting an SSD in that thing it would boot in about 0.1 seconds, can't wait for this beast :D

  • Windows 8!? I just fucking got windows 7!

  • @MegaShirra Better than me, who uses Windows XP and I don't think I can get Win7 soon :)

  • there is a huge difference between standby and hibernate get a clue @chukaahaneku and @sflwa what you are seeing is hibernate which means no power standby requires power

  • "We look forward to you getting to try this out for yourself"

As soon as I get may hands on a leaked build I will :-P

  • Fake!

  • Se iniciar em 2 segundos e não travar...Perfeito!

  • DDD:

  • Felipe, Windows 8 is faster than you. Can you confirm you understand that message?

  • Also ich glaub das nicht!

  • Just because the batteries out means nothing, is it possibly in standby mode? And what form of Win8 is it booting into?

  • @sflwa how can it be in standby mode when the battery is taken out? #fail #noob

  • @chukaahaneku well my Mac goes into a standby mode when you pull the battery, maybe Win 8 does, you idiotic fuck #pointlesshashtag

  • @sflwa Standby means the power is on standby and powering the RAM and keeping the state in memory. Obvious Macfag retard is obvious.

  • @x360c so you're saying windows can't recover if you hibernate then pull the battery?

  • @x360c

    From their blog:

"In Windows 8 Microsoft has developed a new fast startup mode which is a hybrid of traditional cold boot and resuming from hibernate...."

    So I was right :p

  • @chukaahaneku there is a huge difference between standby and hibernate get a clue @chukaahaneku and @sflwa what you are seeing is hibernate which means no power standby requires power

  • @connermac725 try now to hibernate putting the battery off.. what i says in the windows blog is that they used the hibernate cold system for the shut down and turn on... only that this was a normal boot... wasn't hibernate ... but it says u can put hibernate too on win8 and will be even faster... but this was actually a normal boot with the new technology they implemented form hibernate

  • video cut at 0:33 ???

  • this laptop is from 2045 if windows 8 boot up in 2 sec xD

  • @bzvzffs :D:D:D:D:D

  • @bzvzffs No, It basically hibernates every time you "Shut down" except it doesn't save your programs states

  • With and SSD HDD and a fresh op system it's not a big trick. After 1/2 year and tons of games/programs installed/uninstalled we will see. And also the laptop's configuration was not revealed. And as far as I know the new win8 can be started in a simple mode that loads only the most essential things. And whenever you need, sg it will load when you need it.

  • @UndokBeka "With a solid state drive hard disk drive"

Could you possibly be any more retarded? SSDs are SSDs. HDDs are HDDs. They share no similarities other than the "drive" in the name and the fact that they store data.

  • Not a bad one! Hurray Microsoft! =D

  • And is it a 5000$ laptop or a 500$ one?

  • @mechamat777

    50$ xD

  • @mechamat777 actually is really a 15000 or more expensive laptop... core i7 8gb ram.. but was for testing of course it says on the blog they will be revealing more stuff with diferents pc s on "bulid" and yes, you will be avaliable to do this 2 or 4 sec in a normal laptop

  • @mechamat777 Maybe a $5000 one :P

  • Comment removed

  • @mechamat777 I guess yes. This is very similar to EliteBook.

    Close to top configuration.

And just for 2,5-3k ! hehe

  • @mechamat777

I don´t care what kind of laptop that is, THAT'S REALLY FAST!

  • @mechamat777

That laptop only costs $299.99 u fucking idiot

  • waooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Yup like Emily say, I also looking to prove it my self ^^
