Tried it on several different computers including an Alienware M14x, Dell XPS M1530, HP Mini 1000, custom built desktop, and i got my friend to bootcamp it on his Macbook Pro. The boot times ranged from 2 seconds to 7 seconds. For some reason, the Macbook Pro and Alienware had the longest boot times. I'm not quite sure why...
@kakha1974 Yeah but the way it boots up NORMALLY, uses some hibernation methods. This isn't a hibernation boot. Its how windows 8 boots, and thats cool still.
@Dparrey@Dparrey You think I don't know that? You're wrong. I just wrote here: half (semi)-hibernate boot. And you know, that's not very good as you think. And this lady in the video is funny. Removed battery lol...it does not say anything.
@kakha1974 Yes but it's the best of hibernation and a full shut down in one, I think that's cool? Also I think you're making it sound like more of a hibernate than it is, I wouldn't even call it a semi-hibernate as its just the kernel.
I'm not sure why everyone doesn't seem to believe this video. MS figured out it doesn't need to load the entirety of the OS on bootup. Get us a good starting point and a basic GUI going and that's all we need.
if you say edited at 0:32, see again and again... at 0:32 booting processes is done at that time, and she is continue to speak about conclusion in different video take
@junitono1 yes but if something like a BSOD happened right after the boot up then the 8 sec boot up is a wash. in any case they should have never edited it because it looks like they have something to hide.
@ImCausingTraumaZ You can't count POSTing as part of the bootup time. That's not dependent on the OS itself. That's dependent on the computer hardware and the BIOS. Some computers have minimal POSTing but others have long POST times. Windows 8 really does have a 3 second startup time in this video if you disregard POST time.
Windows 8 should run amazingly well on my Alienware laptop. I'm curious what the boot time will be on tablets though since tablets are puny in power compared to laptops and desktops. It'll be a decade before tablets can finally match laptops/desktops in power at a reasonable price. Lol Crysis on a tablet, I wonder if that day will ever come. And after 3 versions of Windows, I think Microsoft can finally change the system and startup sounds. It's kind of getting old now.

With and SSD HDD and a fresh op system it's not a big trick. After 1/2 year and tons of games/programs installed/uninstalled we will see. And also the laptop's configuration was not revealed. And as far as I know the new win8 can be started in a simple mode that loads only the most essential things. And whenever you need, sg it will load when you need it.
