Gulf of Mexico saltwater threatens rice, crawfish farmers
.
A rice and crawfish farming region on the low-lying southwest Louisiana coast has declared a state of emergency because a large freshwater basin that farmers rely on for irrigation is being spoiled by salt water from the Gulf of Mexico. Levees, oil drilling, hurricanes and sea level rise have contributed to the loss of the state's shoreline buffer.

CLIMATE CHANGE TO BLAME FOR MEKONG DROUGHTS: CAMBODIAN PM

PHNOM PENH, April 6 (Bernama) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Tuesday that blame on China over droughts of the Mekong River is baseless and that global climate change is to blame instead.
Hun Sen, who attended last week's Mekong Summit in Hua Hin of Thailand along with other leaders and scientists, said:"They are blaming China while China itself is being victimized by droughts.

The primary man-made cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels. We are taking energy stored over hundreds of millions of years in the form of coal, gas and oil, and releasing it suddenly
What can we do?
(Global warming deniers need not apply)
Switch to and encourage the development of alternative energy sources: Solar, wind, tidal. Move quickly toward hybrid and electric cars. Save energy in our houses by buying LED lightbulbs. Things like that

You are making accusations based on assumptions but treating your accusations like fact.
My statement isnt stupid. We do not know that he is paid to fly. Flying a private charter does cost alot. Look it up. Sure its a very small percentage of what he makes, but still worth noting. Anyway, I didnt mean to imply it was why he was paid or that he made no profit.

Greenhouse gases definitely impact temperature, it's the reason a um.. greenhouse.. works.. (common sense to some, not all.) For those who don't know: water vapor (H20) is the most common greenhouse gas, followed by carbon dioxide (C02), methane (CH4), and ozone (03). Horticulture major ftw!

Yes and every set of parents that create a life are all "inventing life". Republicans either don't even understand simple English language or are being purposely deceitful.

Scarborough always trying hard to appear even handed orchestrates the content of show to the far loony right, limiting any truth and trumpeting the talking points of the right.
Al Gore did help 'create' the Internet by promoting legislation that allowed public access which was once limited. He developed and passed legislation called the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991.
He never said he 'invented' the Internet as so many Republican pundits brainwashed Americans into believing before stealing the 2000 election.
as you admit OilFan, you "will always argue against global warming", so facts, logic and reason are obviously pointless with you . no, your posts contained no real arguments- merely namecalling, gainsaying, and repetition of the absurd allegation that "global warming" is a hoax. I'd gotten bored of this and moved on, even letting you have the last (silly) word, but then i saw an article viewers of this clip should note on the subject...
I would certainly PREFER to believe there is no such thing as 'global warming' i.e. that I/you/we can do whatever we want and there will be no negative impact on the environment. Sadly, a huge preponderance of the evidence (virtually all scientists not funded by oil companies or right-wing think tanks), says that it does, and change must be undertaken sooner rather than later.
Terry Holt is wrong. He is either deliberately lying or quoting an urban myth/talking point with the intent to mislead. Al Gore didn't say he invented the internet. He said he "took the initiative in creating the internet" (as we know it). He sponsored the National High-Performance Computer Act 1988) and the Information Infrastructure and Technology Act (1992) which were fundamental in establishing the internet in its modern form.
Al Gore is one of those politicians who is so far gone that he (and his stupid wife) have become quite freakish. This is what happens to MANY who spend a lifetime in Government-never havng had a real job. And yet he remains an attractive persona to woman and stupid men!
He worked on the family farm during his teenage years. Filthy job, real work.
He was a journalist for years. He has contributed much to this world and for you to insult him because you disagree with him and lie about his past knowing it isnt true. Dispicable.
He also did not just vote on but push bills/initiatives to advance the creation of the internet as we know it today
shut up faggot, don't stay stupid shit like that. you don't know who i am. what the hell has he done for the world? all politicians, especially liberal ones, screw up the world and nothing else
You have no proof that he only does anything for attention.
He never says he invented the internet, but he did really push legislation that led to the creation and advancement of the modern internet or the original version, i forget which at the moment.
He factually did have a hand in the evolution of the internet.
Its your opinion that global warming isnt real. He doesnt become a fake tricking us all just because you disagree with him.
Many of us knew about it even before he went big about it.
As far as your anecdotal reasoning as to why global warming is fake. You dont understand global warming at all. It proves you have not read up on the scientific data nor the full explanation of what global warming is. Some places are dryer and hotter because of it, some are colder as the worlds climates become out of whack.
It has many effects. Lets say it becomes alot hotter then usual in one place and therefore dryer. That evaporated moisture has to go somewhere.
That was disgusting when the host throws in the line "Of course we need to say that congressman is from Texas...he's obviously not going to be supportive of what Gore supports". What does that matter? These people call themselves journalists? And by the way, stick to the point liberal. Argue the fact that Gore, the man you worship so enthusiastically, is plain wrong in his "scientific facts." Respond to what matters.
Does it really need to be spelled out for you? What does it matter the REPUBLICAN congressman is from TEXAS, and probably represents big oil? Duh. The question was, 'why are Republicans so afraid of Al Gore, that they constantly nned to smear him?'
Thanks, oh so much, for enlightening me. It is indeed quite obvious that people who benefit from oil products are going to be a little more vocal than others, because the hoax that is global warming definitely doesn't help the industry. Gore scares Republicans because some idiots are actually giving in to his senseless garbage. Need I say duh, as well?
OilFan, "the hoax that is global warming" . LOL. Welcome back from your Flat Earth Society Meeting.
At least you did stick to answering the question, and now we are getting somewhere. So you do begrudgingly admit there are vested economic interests attempting to deny 'global warming', no matter how weak the case against it, and no matter how severe or urgent the consequences. At least admitting selfish economic motivations to attack Al Gore make some sense sense....
...as opposed to Holt's: "Because he's a hypocrite and a braggart". A Republicon- the party of hypocrisy and empty bragadoccio- delivered that line with a straight face? HILARIOUS!
Furthermore, getting back to the vested economic interests, I don't benefit directly, or even indirectly, from the oil industry. Yet, I will always argue against global warming. Before you call the case against denying global warming weak, do some research, which I doubt you have attempted to do. Just because some washed up politician says it on a crockumentary doesn't automatically make it fact. But believe what you want, I guess.
Ah, you make me laugh. You just did what every typical left-minded person does. Because I refuse to give in to Gore's filth, you use the classic phrase of "Flat Earth Society". Next, it should be something like accusing me of just spouting "G.O.P. Talking Points". It's amusing when your serious arguments are actually parodying liberals everywhere.
Why'd you have to do that? We were starting to make progress, and then you had to mess it up with pointless name calling, trying to put words in people's mouths. Sorry, words like "left-minded" and "liberal" neither scare nor encapsulate me.
No need to make false presumptions, or mock those who oppose you by misrepresenting their points and positions (with no facs to back them up).
I'm quite sorry to hear that calling you a liberal doesn't scare you. It would definitely be a slap in the face for any self-respecting person. Oh, here I go with my namecalling again. Now, after reading my previous post, there are, in fact, arguments, and there are none in your reply because you got miffed over a few words. Surely, it is not I who halts this "progress".
i'm an engineer. i believe global warming is happening. but i believe that carbon dioxide specifically is not a big threat. i also feel that "an inconvienient truth" is as close to fiction as fact
Who believes this Republican nonsensical stuff? Doesn't everyone want a better world in which to live????? Why has it become about being better than someone? Rep vs Dem? Such superficial crap. The world is exploding, literally, and we are fighting over marbles! Go Gore and Obama! Definitely a winning ticket, regardless of smear campaigns!!
This little clip demonstrates a fundamental failure of certain people in the media to employ logic. The issue here isn't which side is right, but that both sides used / fell for ad hominem arguments. These get us no further to understanding the real issues surrounding global warming, as such this clip fails the usefulness test and should be filed under MSNBC political posturing.
there is no liberal media bias. journalists are statistically liberal and the higher ups who control what stories get attention and how they are presented are statistically conservative. the only real bias nn mainstream media is laziness and commercial appeal, which can go both ways on the political spectrum. furthermore, al gore is niether a hypocrite nor a braggard, and people who stop listening to talking heads, research gore's words and actions, and think for themselves know this.
Wow, reading all these comments is dissapointing. Al Gore is really a fool. The movie Inconvienient Truth was a desperate cry for attention. So long Mr. Gore and thanks for all the facts.
Single worse thing you can be in politics is a hypocrite- wow, what a hypocritical statement for a con to make. Then that stuiped jab about liberals attacking the media. I fucking hate cons- they make me sick.
This isn't news. Shows like this are a waste of time. This explains why Americans don't know the real story because the mainstream news is lying to us. And in the rare case when a truly liberal viewpoint is represented, they are bombarded with garbage and not allowed enough time to speak.
Terry Holt seems to have nothing but comtempt for the wellbeing and health of the citizens of the world. He has no real vision, he's a puppet and should resign or be removed.

He also did not just vote on but push bills/initiatives to advance the creation of the internet as we know it today
waltermh111 3 years ago
Yes.. a tobacco farm... then cried about his sister dying from lung cancer.. FLAMING GAY Hypocrite. Won't even come out of the closet for you libs.

who said that journalism contributes to this word? i would be happy to disagree
nickr519 3 years ago 2
luckily thats not all he has done, and can bet he has done more then you to contribute to the world in a positive way.
waltermh111 2 years ago
shut up faggot, don't stay stupid shit like that. you don't know who i am. what the hell has he done for the world? all politicians, especially liberal ones, screw up the world and nothing else
nickr519 2 years ago
not one of those things make him any less of a dumbass and retard
KevlarTheBand 2 years ago
nice of you to change the subject. Now that you know hes worked real jobs you insult his character on no basis at all.
He has shown nothing but caring for others and an intellect far beyond your comprehension.
waltermh111 2 years ago
all he does is for attention
saying he invented the internet?
global warming?
yeah i know it is soooo hot over here where im living because its just been the coldest winter ive had in a lonnnng time
earth is going through a natural process and if there was global warming htre is nothing we could do about it by now
KevlarTheBand 2 years ago
You have no proof that he only does anything for attention.
He never says he invented the internet, but he did really push legislation that led to the creation and advancement of the modern internet or the original version, i forget which at the moment.
He factually did have a hand in the evolution of the internet.
Its your opinion that global warming isnt real. He doesnt become a fake tricking us all just because you disagree with him.
Many of us knew about it even before he went big about it.
waltermh111 2 years ago

TheOilFan 4 years ago
Does it really need to be spelled out for you? What does it matter the REPUBLICAN congressman is from TEXAS, and probably represents big oil? Duh. The question was, 'why are Republicans so afraid of Al Gore, that they constantly nned to smear him?'
d1wild 4 years ago
Thanks, oh so much, for enlightening me. It is indeed quite obvious that people who benefit from oil products are going to be a little more vocal than others, because the hoax that is global warming definitely doesn't help the industry. Gore scares Republicans because some idiots are actually giving in to his senseless garbage. Need I say duh, as well?
TheOilFan 4 years ago
OilFan, "the hoax that is global warming" . LOL. Welcome back from your Flat Earth Society Meeting.
At least you did stick to answering the question, and now we are getting somewhere. So you do begrudgingly admit there are vested economic interests attempting to deny 'global warming', no matter how weak the case against it, and no matter how severe or urgent the consequences. At least admitting selfish economic motivations to attack Al Gore make some sense sense....
d1wild 4 years ago
...as opposed to Holt's: "Because he's a hypocrite and a braggart". A Republicon- the party of hypocrisy and empty bragadoccio- delivered that line with a straight face? HILARIOUS!
d1wild 4 years ago
Furthermore, getting back to the vested economic interests, I don't benefit directly, or even indirectly, from the oil industry. Yet, I will always argue against global warming. Before you call the case against denying global warming weak, do some research, which I doubt you have attempted to do. Just because some washed up politician says it on a crockumentary doesn't automatically make it fact. But believe what you want, I guess.
TheOilFan 4 years ago
Ah, you make me laugh. You just did what every typical left-minded person does. Because I refuse to give in to Gore's filth, you use the classic phrase of "Flat Earth Society". Next, it should be something like accusing me of just spouting "G.O.P. Talking Points". It's amusing when your serious arguments are actually parodying liberals everywhere.
TheOilFan 4 years ago
Why'd you have to do that? We were starting to make progress, and then you had to mess it up with pointless name calling, trying to put words in people's mouths. Sorry, words like "left-minded" and "liberal" neither scare nor encapsulate me.
No need to make false presumptions, or mock those who oppose you by misrepresenting their points and positions (with no facs to back them up).
d1wild 4 years ago
Your understanding of sarcasm and parody is deficient, but I am glad you are able to laugh. A sense of humor shows there is hope.
d1wild 4 years ago
I'm quite sorry to hear that calling you a liberal doesn't scare you. It would definitely be a slap in the face for any self-respecting person. Oh, here I go with my namecalling again. Now, after reading my previous post, there are, in fact, arguments, and there are none in your reply because you got miffed over a few words. Surely, it is not I who halts this "progress".

i'm an engineer. i believe global warming is happening. but i believe that carbon dioxide specifically is not a big threat. i also feel that "an inconvienient truth" is as close to fiction as fact
phlegmie 4 years ago

Look at all these hipocrits trying to blast al gore!
Look up this file on you tube and see whats happening behind the scenes Global Warming and George Bush

there is no liberal media bias. journalists are statistically liberal and the higher ups who control what stories get attention and how they are presented are statistically conservative. the only real bias nn mainstream media is laziness and commercial appeal, which can go both ways on the political spectrum. furthermore, al gore is niether a hypocrite nor a braggard, and people who stop listening to talking heads, research gore's words and actions, and think for themselves know this.

Al Gore for President.

LMAO at the liberal circle jerk in these comments. It is absolutely hilarious when libs blame the obvious left-leaning media for our problems.
godawgs06 4 years ago
Wow, reading all these comments is dissapointing. Al Gore is really a fool. The movie Inconvienient Truth was a desperate cry for attention. So long Mr. Gore and thanks for all the facts.

Al Gore is my sheperd
He is only aware of what he wants
He makes me lie down on park benches outside his mansion
He leads me beside the polluted water of his strip mine
He restores my doubt in brain dead politicians
He leads me in the path of Kyoto for his legacy sake
His lies make children sleepless
Though I walk dark in my house his 4 are lit like Vegas
Surely his lust for power will follow me all the days of my life
And I will see votes held to the light on thanksgiving forever

The only truth is the truth of Al Gore ;)

Single worse thing you can be in politics is a hypocrite- wow, what a hypocritical statement for a con to make. Then that stuiped jab about liberals attacking the media. I fucking hate cons- they make me sick.
Goldhelmriel 4 years ago
Neocon tactics are so tired. *yawn*
Goldhelmriel 4 years ago
This isn't news. Shows like this are a waste of time. This explains why Americans don't know the real story because the mainstream news is lying to us. And in the rare case when a truly liberal viewpoint is represented, they are bombarded with garbage and not allowed enough time to speak.
Terry Holt seems to have nothing but comtempt for the wellbeing and health of the citizens of the world. He has no real vision, he's a puppet and should resign or be removed.
eurotheater 4 years ago
This has already been proved a lie. Neocon crap, it wont work again. And ... lets not think of Ronald Reagan.
Superorchestra 5 years ago
Terry Holt had his moment to speak, but wouldn't allow the other man. Typical neocon, and a liar on top of that.
