@follytowers Thank you, I do really enjoy this machine, really no idea why, it just has a certain fascination for me, besides it works and does a job too.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, merry christmas... :-)
If you don't mind my asking, what is that noise as you're cranking it slowly? In my mind's eye I can't help but think of a piston scraping up and down a cylinder but it's not that, surely?
Very nice. Doesn't take much cranking at all! I'm still looking on Ebay for one that's reasonably cheap without being a total wreck. I saw two Lister diesel engines earlier on there for £3.20, but they were ready for the scrapyard. One had no injector pump or exhaust, and the other one had seized because the valve cover was missing, so water had seeped into the engine. I'll just have to keep looking.
@MrMoterKid It cranks quite easy considering its not used very often, You just have to keep looking, one will eventually show up, but it will most likely be on the other side of the country as usual. There is a lot of junk sold on ebay, and for silly money at times. Keep watching, something will eventually show up.
@Bevoin1970 Reminds me of my old Farryman single cylinder in a sailboat i had, nice to be able to start it after killing the batteries or having charging problems, starter issues.Love that mechanical injection!
Thanks thats your opinion and your entitled to it. It's a typical comment though from someone who has no videos of his own on YouTube. Thanks for watching. Happy New Year. :-)
I have just purchased the same type of PAZ1 driven Benford mixer as you have and cant find any dates for it, do you know what the manufacturing dates are for these mixers?
Hello George, sorry I have no idea, in fact if you should find out please tell me because I would love to know what dates my two mixers originate from... Im guessing late 1960's come 1970's. but thats just a wild guess. Thanks for watching. Paul
The chances of that are very slim as we speak but you never know. If it did happen out of the blue I probably wouldn't have my camera... ha ha. Saying that the biggest Diesels I captured this year were on Caterpillar tractors. Take a look, might interest you.
What a tool, i had a mixer it was massive it was a bachelor reversible drum, Im trying to remember if the engine was petters lister or villiers. Im sure it was 2 cylinder lister. It would run all day everyday all year. I used to make slabs, i sold it and it went to africa. Lovely engines, Not like the crap they make now.
Me too, shame you can't smell the fumes, they are quite nice, but then it runs on Red Diesel so unlike normal diesel this a slightly different smell...
Great engine, great video!

@ShokaLion No its not the cylinder wall being scraped, its the sound of the fuel injector working... :-))

@Bevoin1970 Aha, thanks :) I didn't think it would be somehow! Nice engine :)

@drfeelnothing These things just run and run, no matter how long they have been left standing. Simple but very effective engines.
Thanks for watching...

Would love to see some big diesel engine videos, if you happen to be around big rigs, generators, locomotives, etc.
