Here's my take on this, the guy who said that is almost certainly a closet homo who is obsessed with hiding his homosexuality so if anyone suspects for a second that he's gay, he'll stop what he's doing immediately. So he thinks he can stop you from thinking what you think by saying you're gay cus if someone said it to him, he would stop. Make sense?

That is an american cultural thing to use "gay" as an insult. Being gay and being androgynous are not the same. All beings have some traits of each sex. In general, men have more male than female traits, women have more female than male traits. Both women and men that are somewhere near the central neutral androgynous state are more interesting and more intelligent...but probably at the expense of attractiveness to the opposite sex. It is a catch-22. You can't win.
