They left very little useful supplies behind. They knew how to fight in the winter, after the Winter War 1939 - 1940. Give credit where credit is due, dammit.
@coleloto They were bound to lose, The Russians only suceeded because the Germans weren't supplied with winter-suited uniforms because they had suspected to take Russian before winter, sadly an early winter came and the Germans were defeated either because they froze to death or they lost morale and eventually died due to poor performance. Now IF the Germans had been equipped properly than it would be a breeze for Germany to destroy Russia and eventually end up finishing the United Kingdom.

Russia's winter will always be the big hurdle. If it was 1 on 1, meaning the russian soldiers fighting japan were there the whole time, it would more than likely had been a standstill. The Russians won because soldiers from the east came as reinforcements. Germany lost because they waited too long.

At the turning point on the eastern front, Russia was very weak the 20% of German soldiers on the other fronts could've made the difference+ they had less air support because most of the luftwaffe was destroyed during the battle of Britain.

Why do ppl think that the united states military uses german manufacuares (H&K) HK416, G36c and so on and even the xm8, and g36c were so much better then their other rifles like the m4 and m16 was because they r so good that the united states could afored 2 use them they could only affored a few g36c and thats it. Plus even if Nazi Germany was to face against Russia alone the German troops still wouldn't have survived the brutal Russian winters, it was hell. This movie is very very good. Its called "Stalingrad" and it was made by Germans. VERY truthful movie. Best movie about Battle for Stalingrad. Both sides are shown extremely well, all the uniforms are correct etc.
Just one example, one solider after a hand to hand fight says he shit his pants and starts crying. Never seen better quality movie about war in general.

@38MillionDeadPoles this is just stupid. The russians showed incredible will to fight, even after most of their army and industrialized territory was captured (so did the germans after a few years). They left very little useful supplies behind. They knew how to fight in the winter, after the Winter War 1939 - 1940. Give credit where credit is due, dammit.

@coleloto They were bound to lose, The Russians only suceeded because the Germans weren't supplied with winter-suited uniforms because they had suspected to take Russian before winter, sadly an early winter came and the Germans were defeated either because they froze to death or they lost morale and eventually died due to poor performance. Now IF the Germans had been equipped properly than it would be a breeze for Germany to destroy Russia and eventually end up finishing the United Kingdom.

@Noslen1488 The Russians suceeded for many and various reasons. They used scorched earth tactics and held on even when all seemed to be lost. Germans weren't supplied because of the different rail gauge in USSR, oil shortages because the first attack was on Moscow instead of Baku oil fields, complex to build and maintain german tanks compared to inferior but simple and fast to make T-34s. Allied help was also vital. What I object to is 38MillionDeadPoles-style oversimplificated statements.

The odds were still against the germans, nevertheless. Don't teach other people that it was otherwise because that would be incorrect.

Russia's winter will always be the big hurdle. If it was 1 on 1, meaning the russian soldiers fighting japan were there the whole time, it would more than likely had been a standstill. The Russians won because soldiers from the east came as reinforcements. Germany lost because they waited too long.

Also, the Russians would burn all the land while falling back thus leaving it useless for the Germans. It is true that Germany made a lot of advances in Russian territory, but it was the Russians that eventually turned the tide of war causing Hitler to make the costly mistake of sending a majority of his army and resources to fight of the Russians giving the allies a chance to invade France. The Russians lost over 20 million people, roughly 14 million were civilians, and under 10million were military.
Like I said, Russia TURNED BACK the Germans way Before the major operations that took place by the Allies. In the end though, the Allies UNITED contributed to the defeat of the axis, but Russia definitely played a major important role. BTW, I'm American

At the turning point on the eastern front, Russia was very weak the 20% of German soldiers on the other fronts could've made the difference+ they had less air support because most of the luftwaffe was destroyed during the battle of Britain.

to say the Soviets won the Soviet-Polish war is like me saying the British won the American independece war.
And the cold war although there was no blue to red fighting shall we say the Soviets where forced to lay down there arms disband split there beloved nation into bits and accept the Western way of life if they liked it or not.

Every soldier who has fought and died in WW2 was a brave man, no matter on which side he was standing. You all should honor those men and let them rest in peace. The war is over and I hope, that there will never be another WW again!!!
And btw, the Waffen SS, had nothing to do with the SS guards and directors of the Ccamps, the Waffen-SS was a frontline operating force only.

This movie is very very good. Its called "Stalingrad" and it was made by Germans. VERY truthful movie. Best movie about Battle for Stalingrad. Both sides are shown extremely well, all the uniforms are correct etc.
Just one example, one solider after a hand to hand fight says he shit his pants and starts crying. Never seen better quality movie about war in general.
