I'm from germany and I often been at the ebro delta near riumar. Still nowadays there are lots of giant monsters the, cause every fish gets back into water. But it has also a negativ side, because the amount of carps is going down. Last year only 2 small ones :/, but still out of the ebro in the middlesea, you can catch nice bluefishes and of course Palometas :), which is the most liked fish there, especially for the spanish people !

Don't get wrong my friend. Wels catfish doesnt't make a good fight , it's hard to catch one just for its weight.

I'd rather like to be able fishing at the U.S. you got the best amount and variety of sportive species (i.e. salmons, bigmouth bass, trouts, muskies,...)

chubb are you from the region of caspe or from the bans of the river ebro. if you are then please also tell the whole comunitys that the fishing should be stopped the goverment even stocked the carp in the 1950s into the river ebro some 2000 fish were stocked into the dam regions . i might add without consent as well soley to give the people a source of food in the regions surounding them. so please do check all your comments before yu are about to post. but thanks for your comments anyway.

I'd agree with you if wels catfish was just located in the Ebro river, but empty minded people have released catfishes all throughout Spain .... and this superpredator has extiguished native species in many places.

It has even been located in park ponds!

it is a wels catfish from the river ebro not the danube. after posting this we have just landed a 182.00lbs catfish and sevral over 150.00lbs

This is not a catfish, it is a silure. They belong to different families i.e.: a true cat-fish (Ictalurus nebulosus) belongs to the ictalurides while a silure (Silurus glanis) belongs to the sluridae family. Many english speakers often confuse both species.

Silures are a pest, they have extincted native species and shouldn't be released.

your observations are correct so far as its not an american actfish but it is rela ok. its just you dont catch them this big in america.

we use a ot of strenght to pull the catfish in . to play them like carp would be nom good mate as they will simply find the nearest snag and dive in there.

Awsome catfish. Although it is really best not to remove any big fish completley out of the water unless it is intended for eating. The internal organs can be easily damaged on fish of this size. I can see you take extreme care not to injure the fish but it is just a good rule to follow.
