@mushfrime why dont you buy a radiator from the middle east its hot all the time in there !! and my stock 4s 323 WITH no oil in the engine was on 50% heat for an-hour before the engine couldnt rev down from 6000rpm atm i stopped and it didnt have any oil in it :P i was on my way to buy a new engine atm mine was burning oil and stuff :P
Hey there, I plan to trade my hatchback civic for the 323 hatch.. civic engines cost too much and they have the same power the klze has.. Just wanted to know If I got the 323 and had the klze engine what mods can you do ? I called a shop and they said not much .. not much aftermarket support for this engine .. but here on youtube I see 11 - 13 second 323's why? .. any advise, thanks!
Is this a super hard swap? I was thinking of buying a 323, and when i saw that the KLZE is a possibility, I thought, for sure I want one...but how much work is involved? And what was the biggest hurdle? Thanks!
Lol WUT? This car is currently CARB legal - that's right, SMOG-LEGAL in smog-nazi California. All emissions equipment is on the car, and it passes the smog (both sniffer and visual). Perhaps more research into LEGAL engine changes is needed, eh?
man i cant sleep at night dreaming of klze s i have a 1.5 jap spec dohc hatchback and a mx 3 v6 with a blown motor all i need now is an mx 6 or probe donor car and i can get working on trying to loose my licence what a motor some job man
In this car I used the Japanese V6 from an MX-6 (KLZE). You can use any 2.5L V6 from a 93-97 Probe, MX-6, Millenia or 626 (american version is KLDE). KLZE = bhp, KLDE = 164 bhp, but with a few mods like headers, cams, exhaust, the KLDE can run as fast as a ZE.
i have the exact car, except its a 1993, My buddy has a 93 green mx-6 with the 2.6 v6 in it. Project Tres Dos Tres is beginning soon according to me and 2 other buddys, Was Wondering if anyone has any tips about this swap, or maybe some tricky custom fits that need to go down. Progress will be recorded fa shoooo
your clutch pedal sound like a BOV everytime you press it, other than that thats a crazy swap right there, i know she move'n pretty quick cause those are some light cars...she sound good too...
Franken i am goin on a lil proyect just to ask, the KLZE to do it turbo? do u have lower the compresion of the motor, or the klze stock i can put it turbo just like that???
You can turbocharge the KLZE just fine if you keep boost under 7-8 psi and run a decent management system (like Megasquirt, SDS, Electromotive, etc). Run the proper size injectors, make sure your fuel pump is adequate, tune it proper on the dyno and you'll be alright. 8psi on a KLZE should make close to 400 crank hp, which is plenty for a FWD street car.
i are sure???, becuse people tell me that u can thaat if u don.t put lower compresion pistom... u can broke it becuase it have to much compresion for the turbo???
thats i was staiyn with the klde(american) tomake it turbo... but i don't know.... beacuse people tell u have forged the klze other tells don't i can decice what i am goin to do
@javy2489 Just boost a DE, the ZE's lifters will die out after one or two 1/4 mile runs. Not to mention you can boost higher on the DE because of lower compression (domed pistons rather than flat heads like the ZE) However if you already bought the ze, get a new valvespring/retainers/lifters kit all together.... Will save you lots of trouble and you will be able to run an easy 9k redline boosted on the ze ;)
@muechelmoerder No, flattop pistons = higher compression. Hence why the KLDE with domed pistons has a compression ration of like 9.2:1 and the KLZE with flat top pistons has a compression of 10.1:1
klze flat top piston: img[z]photobucket[z]com/albums/v224/Mx3/Shoppictures026[z]jpg
klde domed: carphotos[z]cardomain[z]com/ride_images/1/1468/4601/3669800028_large[z]jpg replace [z] with periods. See how the de pistons are domed inwards and would compress air less?
I agree, but at the same time it makes heavy traffic bearable as I can stay in 2nd all the time. I still need to look up the MX3 ratios to see what I can do about 5th gear with 205/40/16 tires...
hey dan! happy to see you still doing your thing with BAPOC... man, that's some sweetness. Remember me, bro? I'm yellow2point0, the other Dan from sac. Dude, I ended up selling that yellow one to a guy for $250 after the wiring harness caught on fire. Decided to buy me a 2007 zx10r bike for my speed needs, joined the army a year ago and now stationed in germany. But of course I couldn't resist buying another Probe here in germany :P It's a dark blue PGT this time...want to get to boosting asap
did u change the breaks? really awsome a V6 KL-ZE Engine in a Familia ^^ here in germany it isn't possible to drive this combination, cause the law would f**k u ^^
The brakes are off the MX3 (Precidia), but are the same size as the BG. But the car is very light so it doesn't need massive brakes for daily driving.
That's a negative. The rated 196 crank hp is with the Japanese ECU, Japanese air meter, and the 98 octane they use there. This car is probably closer to 180-185 at the crank. A filter intake and a muffler do NOT add 20hp, unless you believe the eBay hype :)
NO, i'm talking about to the ground I forgot to put (whp). after the klze swap, stock, dyno numbers should be around 170whp = 196hp, ofcourse with the KLZE IM, ECU and don't need 98 octane really, until alot of mods! and cai and full exhaust, I've seen the stats, headers & downpipe on probe gt is 10hp and a cai is about 5hp, and then the 2.5inch catback from greedy or borla is about 8hp, not to mention a high flow or test pipe adding about 2 or 3hp = about 26hp..196whp = about 226 or 230hp..
Trying to school FrankenProbe? Safe to say, he knows a fair deal more about Probes than you. You need the 98 octane if thats what the JDM factory computer is programmed to run best on. The KLZE, with its high compression, benefits from that any way you look at it.
OK guys, jap 98 is 98RON = 93aki which is what you yanks call "octane" aki = (ron+mon)/2 the ecu is going to matter, but if he megasquirted it or something, more than stock power could be made. I should add that japs get more than 98ron at the pump too, 102RON is available there and now in other parts of the world too. Cool swap Dan, goes well in a light car. throw some ITBs on it with a standalone :-) (saw it on amazd)
My grandfather has a 323 taxi down in Colombia. I love that car. got at least 560k kilometers and still going strong. it's a 5 speed.

Hi I got a 323 KLDE ,just want to know if you find a place for a fan to cool-up things?
I can't stay long at a red light in the summer days temp hit 195-200º fast.
What kind of rad and fan would fit? Your car is very cool! nice project!

Very nice swap. I´ve got a few questions about this swap. which gearbox have you taken? and which driveshafts (axles)?
thanks
SamuelTwentyone 3 years ago
Gearbox and axles are both from the V6 MX3. You also need the lower control arms (or entire subframe if it's easier) from the MX-3.
