Dwain Weston is the one who died, Jeb Corliss is the one who is talking. They bothed jumped out of the same plane. Jeb planned to go under the bridge and Dwain was supposed to go over but he got to close and hit the railings and died instantly. There is a video of him with his helmet camera before he hit it.

It showed the impact and the litteral explosion of the body as it hit and not blacked out as on this video. It was horrible. At first, I thought it was fake. Then they replayed it.
