  • I really enjoy watching this video man. I love it.

  • Nice Job! Sounds great

  • good singing man

  • @A7Xfangp Thanks man

  • nice man, but the guitar seemed wayyy too heavy, that may sound retarded to say especially for a rock song but...idk, just in some spots it was anyway. You're good man keep it up =)

  • @BlackHawkGaming Thanks but that is because you are listening to a cam corder version where the sound will never been that great. The mic is going to pick up on more of the bass from the cabinets over the song playing in the background. There was two speakers o the wall for the stereo playing. But my camcorder is sitting right in back of the 1000 watt JBL mains & right below them are two 15" monitors. Not including the Crate Cabinet you see in the video.

  • @DreidMusicalX That something most people do not take in to consideration when watching people videos. If you really want to hear what I sound like you need to go to my new channel where all my stuff is now direct recorded using a PODxt with model packs for better sound quality. Then you will hear the difference between a camcorder and real sound. My newer channel is called DreidMusicalX2. The link is here on my profile page.

  • You fuckin' rock

  • @oaksballa Thanks! Check out my new channel DreidMusicalX2 of my original music. If you like this you should like the new stuff.

  • Murder!

  • Best on You tube for that song. You're rocking, man.

  • @mblaha64 Thanks! The one day I had a few drinks? LOL!

  • you have some nice things

  • you have some nice things

  • really good cover man

  • Thank you!

  • SUPERB, bro! And a great old song.

  • Hey thanks man! Glad you liked it! Ya it is a great song and really fun playing it!

  • Seriously Awesome job brol!! Grew up with this band and song and must say you completely nailed it and rocked it out and brought back some good memories!! Back when music and guitars actually meant something!!

  • Thanks! Ya I know what you mean! Not allot of music today that I like or to even be worth my time of learning. Few but not many.

  • Lol man, very good !!

  • Thanks man! Sorry must have missed this one somehow?

  • epic cover

  • Thanks Stevie9026

  • bad ass man! this song just popped back up on my inside radar recently. as a young child was playmates with one of the band member's children in Jax. great performance!

  • Thanks man! Thats cool, did you get to hear them jam?

  • unfortunately no, but i probably would not have appreciated it anyway, because i was only in like 3rd or 4th grade... i did see the gold records on the walls though :)

  • Very nice perfomance. Really liked how you played the solo.

By the way, where can I find a decent tab of the song? I'm interested in playing this =).

And you ave a nice voice too lol.

  • Thanks but I dont follow tabs, I learned this by ear and others stuff I go buy books if I can to learn sngs the correct way. But I have never found a book on 38 Special so I got tierd of looking for one and did it my own way. I do have a GP4 version I found of it on my website that is very close! Its enough to get you though allot of the parts and the rest you can kinda deal with from what I seen of it.

  • love this song

  • Thanks, its a very cool song indeed!

  • no!hehehe...its not just bad!

and also for guitar u have done great....

this is one of my favorite song hold on loosely!kip it up!

  • nice voice!you have a great job!

  • Thanks I wish it was a full time one! lol! Its all in having fun and just doing what I love...

  • Yes I have heard them before.

  • If your talking about scaling crap? Well everyone has to learn somewhere? I learned all the scales and stuff they call music to learn the neck. Those are the basics to learning music to me. Then you use them to learn what real music is about. And using everything you know in every song gets really boring actually! I listen to alot of people & say to myself? Ok nothing new with them? Same bla bla bla in the next song also? Maybe changed a hair? lol! Guess what? Im not impressed!

  • Impress me with someting differently or new sounding? Same sweeps, same crunge crap really. No melody to the playing just straight forward non stop scaling. Very few musicians use it right. Even Yngwie Started sounding all the same in his solos? I hear a solo in a new song and go Hey that part there and that was used in in his ealier songs when they did have change in them rofl! Lost the creativeness in his playing to me? Then most of them couldnt write a song without scaling in it? Impress me!

  • Its not about how hard something is to play, its about having fun in what you do and like you said its a great song. If you love the song and love to play, thats what its about. Post a vid when you get it done

  • Thanks! yes its great song ive been playing for years now. I play alot of different things though? As long as its something I might want to play for along time that is! If you really like the song you should learn it! Keep Rock"N"!!!

  • People please dont mark musicians comments as spam on my channels for asking me to come watch there videos. I ask any musician to tell me to come check out there videos. Asking a person to watch there videos is not spam anyways. To me spam is someone asking me to come to there website to look at big tittDOTCum crap! lol! You Tube is musicians sharing there stuff and I have met great people that way!

Dont follow trends of the stupid & narrow minded! Think for yourself!

  • hey could you tell me where you go those pick holders that are on your micstand? ive been trying to find them everywhere.amazing cover.

  • Thanks and you can fined them at musicanfriend or zzounds online carry them. Im sure there are many places other then just those 2 online to find them under accessories on the websites. You really have to search there sites alot sometimes but i have been lucky wiht those 2 sites for everything I want.

  • that was awsome. are you in a band?

  • Thanks, and no not at the moment. I have played in bands before but im looking for a new one at the moment. Im looking for a few good players to do originals with. Kind of a virtual band I guess. Finding the right people around here is impossible! To small of place where im at! haha!

  • oh and could you also send me the tabs for the solo? or try to write it down if you made it up? its cool if not, thanks.

  • I never have tabbed it out, I just sat down and figured each part out the best I could.

  • great cover. hey could you tell me where you go those pick holders that are on your micstand? ive been trying to find them everywhere. again amazing cover.

  • prettty decent brah

    :D

  • Thanks man! I was wasted in this vid. haha! Send me a link to your myspace when you put up a vid of your band.

  • man that was damn awesome!

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • amazing dude. thats like the best cover ive seen

  • Thanks! And this is a funny cover! I was so messed up doing this I almost fell on my face! haha!

  • uv got the same guitar as me

  • I pretty much doubt that since this guitar has been changed since I bought it. I mean its possible that you have the same tremolo and pickups in it as I put in there since theres 6 billion people on the planet. But this guitar was completely different from it now when I bought it, the only thing thats the same is the color of the body and the plate adn the neck without the new tuning keys also. What pickups and tremolo sytem do you have in yours?

  • after the 2nd chorus, what notes/chords are you hitting where the song hits its "bridge? You know, the part where is just the drum cymbol and the guitar notes for 2 measures

  • Are you talking about at 1:59 in this video

  • E_

    B_10_9_9_7

    G_.9_9_9_9

These are what your using, youll figure it out im sure!

  • Yes I was reffering to that part, TYVM!!

  • really great, singing is good to

  • Thanks!

  • Great sound and a great job man !

  • Thank you

  • You play so good.

Great guitar and voice. Five stars.

  • Thank you!

  • Wow really nice job !!

I could listen to this all day ! :D

  • Thanks man! glad you like it

  • yeaaaahhh, I am back here for inspiration.. !!!!!!

  • haha! Really glad you like it!

  • Rules.

  • Thanks

  • Nice work. It sounds deeper and heavier than the original though. Are you in a drop tuning of some sort?

  • TY, no its Standard E tuning. Its just a mono shit camcorder mic. I didnt start doing studio recording til most my later videos. Video camcorders never give the real sound of anything.

  • super stuff at 350....lol we all wish we can do it///

  • pretty awsome good job!

  • Thank You! I gave it all I had that night being drunk! haha!

  • bahahhaha! i hear that brother!

  • nevermind you rock dude

  • I dont know if you found the video responses under this video? But I break it down the best I can there.

    Keep Jamm"N"

  • hey man can you pleaes make another video showing you playing the solo

i can play some of it im just missing some parts

  • owned!

  • Thanks!

  • From the beginning to 0:09 when you come in and then at 0:16 when you quit playing there's a rhythm part you're missing up until about 0:32. Then again after the 1st chorus you do the same thing. Watch the .38 Special live from Sturgis video and you'll see that Don Barnes never stops playing.

  • Thats a live version, not the way the album is. If you listen you can clearly hear its not like that on the album. I had a feeling you were refering to a live version and not the album version.

  • mmm, let's see, I'm 36 been playing since I was 10 so that would be 26 years. I've played this song hundreds of times with only myself playing and no parts obviously missing to the audience. It's easier to play with another player since you don't lose the rythym during solo but you're just standing there during a part you should be playing. It's nice to hear that you have your guitar tuned properly to the song.

  • Thats cool 26 years? Ive been playing off and on for 25 years. But still, I dont understand where your saying Im missing the rhythm part I should be playing? Maybe you could make a video showing me, because I have played this song hundreds of times as well live and alone. Or at least tell me the time in this video (0:00) I dont see or hear where you wouldnt run over another persons guitar part. Im always willing to learn another way if its correctly done. Thanks

  • this guy dreid rocks...i am 53 and heard it all over the years,, and yeah i play...so send your video...this song can handle lots of renditions...unless....lol you cant do it ??

  • You're forgetting to play a lot of music there. All of that rhythm part is played by Don Barnes who also plays all lead in .38 Special.

  • There is more than one guitar part in this song and impossible to play them all at one time. 38 Special has more than one guitarist in there band. Ive been playing this song live with a band for long time with 3 guitarist. How long have you been playing guitar?

  • nice cover and what kind of guitar is that?

  • Thanks, It a Ibanez RG Cutom. I had work done to it with the tremolo system.

  • insane

  • Thanks bro!

  • amazing 5/5

  • Thank you, for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed this vid!

  • omg i wanna learn to play this song.

    you were awsome 5/5 !!!

  • dude thats insane

    ur awesome

  • Thanks bro! Its a fun song to play!

  • Incredible,

    Singing actually IS NOT bad.

    (+5/5)

    That was nice.

    :]

  • Thanks!

  • you rip the last 2 minutes

  • Fun fun, thanks dude, still love this from you....when i play it only my dog stays in the room.....!!! Crunchy is fun

  • Thanks man! Thats funny! My dogs take off also! He takes off as soon as hears the bass of the amp, I think he thinks it thunder or something? haha

  • Thanks BushRaven for dedicating your video of Whiskey Man to me in the Video Response above! That was very cool! And my first dedicated video from another musician...

Check it out people! Very Good Cover!

    Your friend

    Dave

  • dude im very impressed you are good

  • Thank you for that compliment, I try

  • niiiiiiice! Keep playing and ur not a bad singer...heck ur pretty good well at least ur better than me =P Never give up guitar and 5*

  • Thank you! Ive been working on it, getting past the one part in the solo. Its been hard to do both? lol! That damn solo throws my singing off key right after Dont let her slip away part. But I dont think Ill ever stop playing no matter what! Ill be 101 and still Pluck"N Blind! haha

    Thanks!

    Dave

  • lol i'm glad to hear that maybe one day I'll see you playing at a live concert and don't worry just keep trying until u can keep on key every time

  • I already play live all over the place, I just dont sing to much lead vocals? lol! I do better with backups. So you may see me soon!

  • Great! i'm looking forward to it

  • WOW!

  • Thanks Janzah, I sent you a message from a comment I read on your page.

    Take care!

    Dave

  • You did great!!! The singing wasn't so bad still you did AWSOME!!!

  • Thanks, I just have a hard time singing and playimng this solo at tyhe same time. I get thrown a bit about this part in the solo. Too much going on in the solo, so I either stop one or the other? lol! Id rather just play though, and do backups? Thanks though!

  • no prob Yea you should do back ups, that would help ya a lot

  • you remind me of one of my older buddy's "Al"

  • Hopefully a good buddy? Thats cool! lol!

  • This is one of my favorite songs. Trying to play it on guitar but someone tell me if you find a good tab for the solo, ok? All the tabs i find for the solo only cover like 30 seconds of the solo but the solo's like 2:00 long. I wish someone would tab a good solo for this song-it's a great solo but it sucks when I don't have a good tab to learn the solo.

  • I have many people asking me about the tabs to this song? Its one I had to learn by ear myself. The only tabs I ever found close to it wa in the GP4 Program you can buy online for $50.00 But those tabs were not exact either? But they were close enough for me to learn the rest by ear. Other than that the vid responses under this video? There not great, im not a good teacher on video, but they may help? Until my wrist is healed (Fractured) I cant help anyone thats been asking me.

  • thanks dude, loving to play is the best of all, enjoy, crunchy with some style thrown in !!!! I bet you can play your own blues too, but this is better funn

  • Yes I can play my own blues also! Im playing them right now having a broken wrist. lol! But yes I can play many sytles of music, If I had them time and money I would live on You Tube putting up videos. I play styles from Rock Pop Classical Alternative Indie R&B Metal Thrash Epic, and even my own syle? Thats a bit all combined in experimental Tunings and more... Its all fun to me! I just like playing and sharing music of mine & songs that are being lost a bit with time that really are great songs!

  • Love the Guitar dude... It Looks like what I use Which is a Fender Heartfield Talon IV.

    keep rocking!!

  • Thanks, Mine a Ibanez RG Custom

  • I Thought So :) They were from the same factory!! Sorry to hear about your wrist. Hang in there!!

  • nice and nice.....you making this fun...all of us who been playing since we were 12 have played this song...rock it dude

  • Thanks, it is a fun song to play!

  • Wow great guitar playing. This song's awesome- I've been trying to play lead guitar on this song and I can play all the way up to the Solo. All the Tabs i've found for the solo suck so I don't know what to do. I've watched your 3 videos for help on this song-they helped a lot- but that doesn't do a lot of good when the all the Tabs for this song suck. Please help!

  • Thanks, Ive had a few people ask me for tabs in this in the last few days. I fracrured my wrist and cant play at all at the moment. I have about 4 more weeks before they take off the cast. Then I was going to try to work with people in the spots there having trouble with. Theres a lot of double picking the same note with one note slide and bends. I never did find any tabs that were even close for this song either? But ill help in a few weeks as much as I can. Keep practicing, its tough!

    Dave

  • Thanks for the help! I hope your wrist heals up it sucks to not be able to play guitar, doesn't it?

  • Ive listened to this song forever, but ur singing is actually good =]

  • It is? I dont think I have that voice for lead vocals that just carries out like most lead vocalist do. I love doing back up vocals though. I do better with harmonizing I think? I just love to play lead guitar that is really hard to do both with the type music I play of my own. But thank you for that comment.

    Dave

  • YOUR SINGING SUCKS! haha just kidding

  • I know Im NO Lead Singer! lol! I admit it! Guilty! Thats why I just do backup vocals live. I do better with harmony type suff?

  • Fantastic job dude. I know how hard it is to sing and play lead at the same time. Jonnie Van Zant has two other guitarists playing for him anyway. Saw em this summer, they were awesome.

  • Thanks, It is a Bitch! Wish I could have seen that show though?

  • Good job, and your singing was good. It seemed like a good song for your voice

  • Thanks, Its just a bit hard for me to sing and play lead guitar to it at the same time? I always get stuck on this song about the same place... When I play live I dont sing this song, I just do back up vocals for the most part. Its easier playing lead guitar.

  • yea you now the song the two lead part can be hard to get

  • Yes it can be a bit tricky. Thanks

  • great retake on the song. awsome guitar, too.

  • Thanks, Im glad to see someone so young that likes older Rock N Roll... And yes this guitar is my sweetheart! I still have never seen another like it thats exact. Its too bad, there awesome guitars that take a beating better than any other Ibanez ive owned in the past. And better action of playing! Thanks for stopping by.

  • kick ass

  • Thank U!

  • i love 2:53

  • I like the solo in this song aslo. Its one of the only reasons I started learning it. Its a little tricky in a few parts, and playing a bit smashed is harder! lol!

    Dave

  • dude u got to teach me mann

  • Do you see the 3 Video responses right under the video here? I dont think I have them blocked from people I hope. There quick lessons to this song. Enough to get a good idea.

  • thx

  • Is that a Gibson in the background, or a PRS?

  • I know you said not to rate the singing, but I actually thought it was quite pleasant, especially given that you're singing and playing simutaneously. Nice job.

  • Thanks, I have a hard time with this song near the solos. And the guitar in the back is a Epiphone Les Paul Custom

  • Amazing cover man.

What equipment are you using? Thats some rich sound...

  • Line 6 Pod XT, Set up live through the Mixer, JBL Mains and Crate stack for the Sub/Kinda?lol! The crate stack still play like monitors. But you can have any tones and effects you want with Line 6 equipment

  • Dude, good job on this video! What are the little two or three note chords you're playing during the bridge ("Don't let her slip away...")? I always thought they were G, E, and D chords, but I never quite figured it out. Could you please just post the fingering for those 3 chords during that bridge? that would be awesome. Thanks and keep on rocking~

  • 8 7 5

    7 7 7 on the G & B then 7th on the E

  • Must have costed a fortune making a home studio! Am I right?

  • Not really? A little under $10,000 for the equipment that plays Live or Studio. Behringer has a few nice products to keep it cheaper than say Makie mixers and almost sound as good with JBL's

  • I had tried it all together with my guitars, just to make sure I got the sounds I was looking for in my music. Line 6 POD XT are great to have, and can be tweaked to so many Amps, Cabinets, & Effects

  • To me that's a fortune xD

  • It was for me as well, but it doesnt come any cheaper than just recording on a PC program like Guitar Tracks Pro 3 for a couple hundred. POD XT is about $300 that is direct to your PC for Both Live or Recording Gear.

  • awesome man... congratulations!!! u rock...

  • Thanks, I wish I wasnt so messed up doing this video though? Smashed!!!!! A its all in fun anyways. But I am not even really a drinker at all! It was just that night being bored lol! But thanks for the comment.

    Dave

  • could you please send me the tabs/chords please.

  • I dont have the tabs for this song. I learned it by ear, just listening over & over again. There is a program called GP4 online you can get. Thats what I hear anyways?

    Dave

  • love this song man. i always play this song on Guitar Hero 80s. i should cover this song when i pick me up an electric guitar. gereat video man.

  • Its a great song! One thats really fun to play thats worth learning. The solos are really fun! Thanks for the comment, and im glad you like it.

    Dave

  • awesome. i finally got my electric guitar. it's good and all but i jsut don't have the distortion fx on my amp so i have to buy the foot pedal soon and i was watching the "help" videos. kinda confusing a little but slowly getting um'. oh that site, GP4, i went there and i couldn't find anything. =S

  • let me see about where the website is? If its still there or not? Ill get back with you of I find it. Get a POD XT instead of a pedal man, It has all the amps, cabinets, and effects youll ever need on it there. for the same price as a good pedal! And well worth a few hundred bucks! If you can?

  • You Rock bro.......

  • Thanks, I wish I was playing in a Band right now. But Im looking for a new one, Just need some very versatile people for the Ideas I have. And willing to push it to the limit! Thanks for the great comment!

    Dave

  • nice vid. :D

  • Thank You

  • Yeah, but can't you play JFAC? (Job For A Cowboy)
