  • is there ANYTHING that I can substitute for the coconut oil? I can't deal with the smell of coconut anything....please help?

  • @GOODENess357 try mango or cocoa butter also try refined coconut oil it doesn't have a scent.

    thank u for your question

  • did you melt your shea first in this video, and going by one of the questions above the more oils you have the more fluffy it will stay?

  • @afrobaby25 no I'm in Atlanta and this vid was crated when the weather was warm so there was no need to melt the shea butter, no u don't need alot of oils , I had them so I used them, but u don't have to use many oils, the first time u do try making your mix keep it simple u can always add more of something if u need to but u can't take it away once u put to much in

good luck and I hope that helped. also thanks for the question

  • Great video! Now I'm going to have to add coconut oil to my next batch of shea butter. I saw your comment about making too much and that was my first thought when I saw you did 16 oz of shea at one time, LOL. I did maybe 4-6 oz on mines and it last about a month.

Question: Where did you purchase your oils?

  • @cateyesmd the coconut oil I get from Dekalb farmers market the other oils I get from whole foods . thank u for your question

  • How can i get a sample of youre body butter?

  • does your whipped shea butter significantly firm up? i just made my first batch and when i was done whipping it, it was light and fluffy. i bottled it and was all happy as a girl could be. the next morning though, my whipped shea had firmed up. i was still lighter than it was when i first bought the shea, but the whipped stuff was kinda crumbly (that's the best way i can describe it).

did i just not whip it enough?

  • @carrbarre is it possible that i didn't use enough oil?

  • @carrbarre it could be that u didn't use enough oil also cold weather will play a big factor in the hardness. the butter I made in this vid stayed light and whipped for a long time but the one I made recently is harder because it's cold now.

  • @KidneyGirl91 Ok cool, good to know. it has been rather cold here :) thanks for the help!

  • yummy

  • a few natural preservatives:

    Lavender oil

    Neroli oil

    Peppermint oil

    Sweet lemon oil

    Lemongrass

    Wild thyme

    Grape seed oil

    Vitamin E

  • when I first started making it I made too much so I had to learn how to make enough to last me 2-3 months, that way I could try other recipes and scents to find out what I like best also yes I have started putting it in my hair , I use lemon grass as my preservative u can also use vitamin E.

  • @Kidneygirl91 I am getting ready to make up a batch of whipped Shea Butter using your recipe. Do you use any type of essential oil like Tea Tree or Rosemary as a preservative? Also, how often do you make a batch? Do you use it on your hair and skin or only your skin? I believe you said that you were transistioning so if that is the case, you might not use it on your hair. I do use my Shea Butter mixture on our daughter's hair who is transisting as well and it does great. Excellent video!

  • hello, i think your really cool, and i think your really pretty too...i know im young but if i ever meet you in person, i would be in love..and umm...u have very nice skin..its smooth as heaven.

  • This looks great!

  • my whipped shea recipe is similar, just a few changes. Just a little tip you might wanna try. I found that if I whip it up in the blender it is so much smoother and creamier with out any lumps left in it at all. It becomes the fluffiest lightest creamiest mixture when whipped in the blender.

  • @Txshizzle thank U for the tip

  • @KidneyGirl91 anytime sweet girl! Hope you like it that way :)

  • Thank yu so much for posting your videos! Very informative & helpful.

  • Do you store your shea mixtures in the frig or at room temp? Do they spoil after a certain time also?

  • Thank you!

  • Do you use the white Shea butter or yellow ? which brand did you use ?

  • @juicyluciable , I use ivory colored shea butter, it will be ivory or butter yellow, real shea butter will not be neon yellow, I hope that helps

  • @KidneyGirl91 my shea butter is ivory before I mix it, after being mixed it turns into an ugly neon green looking color, what is that about? Where do you get your shea butter, i hate to spend alot of money on shea butter and not know the color until its mixed.

  • The texture is wonderful! I've made one but as I heated the oils and the butter, it was long before turning into fluffy texture; Must I blend it at room temperature?

  • @mreinstein48 I have found that liquid oils will not whip no matter how hard I try, hard butters like coccoa or kokum butter have to be melted down in order to mix smoothly, once u have melted your hard butters and added your oils let it cool down I use a ice bath as shown in the other video and it wont get gritty or hard too fast , the butters use in the above vid were soft and at room temp, I hope that was not too confusing . thanks for the question : ))

  • @KidneyGirl91 Thank you for your advices!

  • YOUR MIXTURE DOUBLE IN SIZE IT LOOKS GOOD

  • looks great , my question is do it stay this fluffy.

  • @Nappygirlie99 yes I found a tiny container that I made 5 months ago from the batch in this vid and it's still fluffy.

    thanks for your question

  • VERY nice :) looks GREAT!

  • love the corinne baily rae song

  • mmm-hmm... wow kidneygirl91 this looks like a REAL treat for the skin! I've always wondered if a "hand mixer" would work just as good(if not better) than a "stand mixer". nice vid, thanks for this recipe! i would love to add a lil' spin to your recipe with some lavender e/o after an evening bath-to relax...

  • @cinnamonstixx34 yes i love lavender thats a great idea.

  • Beautiful recipe, I also tried it out! What´s the name of the tune in the video? Kisses from Mexico! :-D

  • @juanitads Corinne Bailey Rae - 'Seasons Change', I hope u enjoyed the recipe and thank u for your questions.

  • thank your of the video's on how to whip your own shea butter, were do you purchase your products in those quantities? and I tried my first batch yesterday, I was not able to get the fluffiness as your video shown, how long to whip? Thanks for your help, I'm a natural since 3.21.10 and loving it..Be blessed

  • @ThsIsMeSwt47 the cocnut oil I get from the Deklab Farmers Market here in Atl, the shea Butter I get from a health food store its call Sevananda and its in Decatur, GA.

thank u 4 commenting on my video.

  • thanks for the video simple to do and that's what i like i have some of the things will go get the other oils i don't have.

  • Wowie, zowie! That's fabulous! Do you have to refrigerate it?

  • @LottieSue , no it's fine at room temp no fridge is needed. thanks 4 your question

  • Now this looks like a great shea butter recipe. The texture seems so creamy and rich. Is the mixture suitable for both skin and hair? Thanks!

  • @GracefulJoy, it's a great recipe, but I don't use it on my hair only my skin becuase I am relaxed and I feel shea is to heavy for my hair. but I thinks its great for naturals.

  • very nice butter you made there :) I do mine pretty much the same way but I discovered whipping it in my blender works so much better than using my mixer. It gets very very fluffy. Enjoyed your video!

  • thanks good job

but what the oil with the purple label??

  • @scarllett81, its grapeseed oil.

  • thanks good job

but what the oil with the purple label??

  • I enjoyed this video. I have the raw shea butter is there any difference in this one in the video & can I use it on my hair as well? Thanks for sharing. : )

  • @myskyy08, I don't use it in my hair because I am relaxed I use only oils like coconut, avocado, grapeseed, I think shea works better in the hair if you are natural but try it and see if it works for you.

  • @myskyy08 raw / unrefined shea is what I use.

  • great video.btw, where do u purchase your shae butter? you may have said it, but i stepped out of the room and did reveiw it again.

  • @mophead70 I was buying it from ebay before I found it locally in bulk. I do have the ebay sellers info in the other shea butter video look in the description box.

  • I love this vid

I got to try this and I favor it .

Have a Bless one sweetie and loving the music .
