I am sure many people, myself included, would love an updated version of this. I'll have to go with Carrie the high notes come to her a tad more effortlessly than they do to Martina. :) Both are one-of-a-kind vocalists though and I am still flabbergasted as to how Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift (who have lovely voices but that's about it) snatch up all the awards over Carrie? The industry's in need of a hearing aid, me thinks! :)

Martina McBride is great, but I love Carrie Underwood. Carrie's voice is SO pure, and it can be super strong or really soft depends on the songs. Martina sure can reach high notes, but her voice is always the same. Plus Carrie has that fun energy that always keeps you watching. and btw, have u seen Carrie sing National Anthem? she can go even higher than Martina.

I'll give this one to Carrie. Martina is awesome, but Carrie's tone got this unique strong quality. But Carrie needs to tone down a bit when she reaches for anything above D5 because her voice is just too strong. I have hard times appreciating Carnival Ride because the high notes get on my nerves sometimes (her debut is more subtle and I really enjoyed that one). Both awesome singers, though! =)

Her debut album has a heck load of high notes and I will not call them weak and thin, but the intensity is just right. There's a difference between excessive and adequate power. There's a difference between delivering a song appropriately and grabbing me on the neck and says "listen to me!!!". The thing with Carrie is that her voice is very strong regardless whether she's singing low or high. But when she gets a bit too strong, it's like putting twelve lumps of sugar into a cup of coffee.

i like martina..but it is carrie that i love!! it doesn't mean that if you're in the business for more that a decade, you're far more better than those who are just new. it actually depends on your growth as a singer..and i personally think that carrie has grown to think that she's only on her third album. 4 grammys..ACM entertainer of the year..numerous female vocalist awards. just gotta love her!:)

Another little bit of info. Just because you win tons of awards and make millions doesn't mean you are any more talented. True in all cases. I'll give Carrie this she can hit the high notes a little better than Martina, she also sells better than Martina but Martina can hold a note longer and better than Carrie and Martina also doesn't have to sell herself in order to gain fans or make money. She is who she is like it or not.

Both have great voices, but Martina has the best voice. It's not even fair to compare them because Martina is on another level all together. Obviously because she has been in this business for 17 years and has had the time to learn how to properly control her vocals. It comes easy for her where as you can tell in Carrie's performances she has to work a little harder to hit those notes. But no doubt in the years to come she will master it completely.
