I know that YouTube is fodder for anyone to put up vids about anything but if you're gonna review a game, at least make an attempt at constructive criticism instead of going all FoxNews on it and putting it down because it's not your cup of tea. PoR follows early D&D rules and requires a lot of attention to detail. Admittedly, the NES version is the bastard child of the PoR ports, but mashing the controller and complaining isn't anywhere near a review.
fyi pool of radiance was one of the first AD&D games brought to the PC and NES (to correct some of your voice-over. It isn't a repeat, it is the original). The NES version lacks greatly in graphics and gameplay compared to the PC, but that was due to the NES version not being capable of processing enough of the entire journey so they had to reduce its complexity.
First off, this is a really old game and was great for its time. Second off, the PC version is ten times better. And finally, many Americans favor more actions focused RPG. They like fast action and entertainment, if it is not OOOooo! and ahhhh! around every corner they get bored... Same with tv today. Can we say Attention Deficiet Disorder generation?
I feel really stupid for asking this, but how do you start the game? Like get the start thing next to the person and the 'begin adventure' thing appears. How do I do that?
well if it is like pools of darkness then you have to select the charecters you wish to play with, and if there are no charecters that you wish to play with then you have to create them. i think around 6 charecters. Then after you´ve selected them, you can begin the adventure.
and follow up to what I added below there you can't shoot people's heads off in MK no, the 'headpop' fatality you 'punch' it off. Still this person was clearly expecting an action game.
So I guess when whoever made this video heard this was an 'RPG' they though it meant 'Real Play' game and thought realistic action. 'Oh cool I can blow things heads off and rip their arms out!'
Play Mortal Kombat if you want that (and if you do genesis is easier to do specials on than SNES.)
Not really... and "Start" is a horrible button for block... especially bad if you're stuck with a 3-button controller. Mortal Kombat's visual and audio clarity is superior on the SNES, too. It doesn't have the "blood code", but big flippin deal.
To be honest, it's an arcade classic, so arcade had the best version with both graphics and gore.
As far as DND... zzz, I would rather play a text-only game than be forced to walk through boxy, nauseating, repetitive pseudo-3D...

They mean it as in it's a direct sequel to FF 10, but not an entirely new game like 11, or retard for 10 + 2. They have the worsed naming convention of probably any series, but it has some logic to it.

This video was captured while playing one of the cheap game website's clones of the Pool of Radiance game from the 80s. The original game was on the Commodore 64 and was really great for it's day.
There was a bug in the game where you split arrows until your inventory is full and the last arrow in your inventory would become a "Jug" that did insane damage to anyone hit by it.

Yeah, it was originally a commodore 64 game back in the 80s. It can be found at lease one torrent/warez website that I know of as the AD&D Silver Collection.
This particular video looks remarkably like the PoR game/clone I saw at a website called Console Classix. I'd post a link, but you can find it online easy enough.

I played when I was like 14 or something like that before I learned how to play RPGs and never got the chance to get into it. well now I've beaten 2 RPGs have have been undefeated since I owned them ranging between 1 and 2 decades. and I think I'm ready to give that one another go. if maya's kingdom is available on a website can you post the link or send me a message?
Wow. Do not listen to this guy. This game actually has a lot of depth. Tactical combat, decent character development, and a lot of things to do. Kids these days can't appreciate older games. "What? I have to read?" Sad, really...
