Amazing. The quality of this show surpasses whatever we had in the past 20 years. I still get chills from hearing this ending. Definitely a classic anime styled show with killer animation and strong music. Rangers are forever!
@yournotjohn It was a very solid series, and would hold up very well should anyone dare to make a movie or live action series. I wonder what it would take to get this considered. If Transformers and GI Joe could get movies, after all...
I remember watching this on WPIX Ch. 11 in New York City weekday afternoons at 4:30! This was one of the more higher quality 80s animated series, animated in Japan, high quality music/sound, and even well known sci-fi writers handling the storylines. As everyone before me said, it is sad that there will never be such hi-caliber animated shows on TV again, afterschool TV and great cartoons passed away in 1990.
what are the lyrics after the guy sings Rangers are forever. For the life of me I cant figure them out and Ive looked it up online and all they list them as [Verbing in or Verbing] what the hell are they singing its killing me
I really miss the 80s cartoons. You know, we, in Indonesia, on 1987 till about mid-1988, had this GR every Monday afternoon. Then we had He Man on Thursday, Silver Hawk on Wednesday. I forget the one we had on Tuesday, but I remember we had Ghosbuster on Friday and Cosby Show on Saturday. At that time, there was only one TV Station in Indonesia, but they really knew how to give us the kids some joy.
Sponge, thanks for posting this. I always had another song in my head from GR that I thought was played at the end of the show. However, when I went to buy a DVD of this show it was not there. I finally get to hear it again and prove to myself that i'm not going crazy LOL!
I find it almost sad that my kids won't have the intensely fond memories I have from my childhood cartoons. 25 years later and I still remember these songs and search for little glimpses on youtube.
Somehow I doubt 25 years after my kids childhood will they be looking up Chowder and the Ooglies. Cartoons suck so bad nowadays its almost ridiculous. Nothing that sparks imagination (and the need to use it), instills a sense of right and wrong, tells a story of good Vs evil.
@misterRDF The main for this is because it is all about money. Cartoons don't make a lot of money so they don't get made and the only ones that do make it are cheap to make and stupid. I saw this starting to happen in the early 90's. Now Saturday morining cartoons are down to 1 station that shows reruns of old shows that came out years ago. I really feel sorry for them.
@misterRDF I've hooked my niece, and have been circulating the tapes to Browncoats who miss a little Western with their sci-fi. Some of the episodes do not hold up, but the solid ones like "Scarecrow" and "Psychocrypt" are on par with one-hour shows.
GI Joe and Transformers got movies. Wouldn't it be cool if...
@NepperCat nepper, the 80's tied product promotion to cartoons and we 80's kids responded to that type of promotion. When peopel started buying stuff out of atalogs and cut out toy store chains, media companies decided to stop producing kids cartoons. Add to that, real actors wanted work and wanted the cartoon revolution to be stopped, parent teacher watch dog groups complaining aobut violence in cartoons, and the popularity of Cartoon network, (willing to show these cartoons 24hr a day)
@blackshogun77 Trueness but Cartoon Network dosent even run anything near this cool. They need like another retro-toon network since even Boomerang is starting to crack at the seams by playing Cartoon Network castaways.
@NepperCat Live action movie. With a solid cast, some decent writers, and please keep M. Night Shyamalan away from it. He really screwed up Airbender.
@NepperCat nerf ball generation, a side effect of the far left and the far right (looking at you republican/democrat extremists) realizing that only by working together could religious fundamentalism and neoliberalism combine to form a nerf ball generation which will eventually cause america to fail (hah, eventually, look around).
@NepperCat ......gotta get into japanimation....berserk....trigun...cowboy beebop..outlaw star..robotech...starblazers...capt harlock.......and when dc comics animates one of thier storylines into an animated movie...marvel does it too..but they have to work on thier animation..keep improving it..like dc does
@1942PANTHERV I like the DC movies but, it would really help if they stopped leaning so heavily on Batman and Superman. I wish they'd just go ahead and do the Titans movie they keep putting on hold.
Dude, those back then are just as lame as anything now. It's all fantasy. You actually have to go back to the sixties - Johnny Quest, CMDF, and that ilk - to get any kind of SF-ness, and not totally dorky situations. Oh, and the bad guy always died at the end of Johnny Quest.
@aculturemind Galaxy Rangers wasnt as mainstream as say He-Man so it wasnt enforced to have little lame 'daily lessons' tacked on to every show, it kind of stood out thats why its a cult classic now. onny Quest and Speed Racer were always awesome because people died. I'm a huge Johnny Quest fan, if not for the animation alone.
@NepperCat Not so surprisingly, some of the better GR fanfic writers also write fanfic for JQ: The Real Adventures, including one who goes by "Lady Niko"
@Allronix Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures...one of the first shows to get screwed by Cartoon Network, then JLU, Secret Saturdays and a few others. Now they're trying it with the phenominal Young Justice.
about RPM! Nah- I knew since Ziggy's adventures with Tenya 7 whistle call and Dillion watch bit but I didn't want my hope down since it might be different... reminded me of Sailor Moon w. Tux Mask... so since this is based on Japanese Sentai and so similiar to in "Space" I didn't want my hopes down til the villians accidentally slips the info... so last Saturday was the words that I was waiting for... Tenya 7 and Dillion similiar build... she has to wear the visor outdoors, etc...
The 80's cartoons were awesome, the 90's cartoons were okay, but the 2000's cartoons? With exception of notables like Dragonball/Dragonball Z, everything else is just a bunch of crap.
It must really suck to be a 7-12 year old boy right now. :(
Actually Dragonball and DBZ comes from 80´s. Personally I do not like those.
But I agree with you, today we have only crap. By the way, "Avatar, the last airbander" is a nice production but it is still far away from what we had in 80´s...
It took a decade to bring the Dragonball/Dragonball Z franchise to the US. The problem was some scenes were too suggestive and violent to be suitable for children. Lupid the III took over THREE DECADES to bring it to the states.
Hmm. You must think, that today's Kids only know about the Cartoons/Animes brought out today and they never saw such good cartoons as the Generation 20+
OMG, how or why do you have this?! I've been wanting to hear this song for years. I just had a faint memory of it from when I was a kid. THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!!!
Some of Phil Galdstone's earliest work. (Just after Ghost busters)He went on to write for Celine DIon,Whitney Huston,Vanessa Williams and many others.
@adamweishaupt81 I hooked my niece. Her mom refused to let her watch stuff like Ren and Stimpy and Cartoon Network's "cartoon cartoon" lineup, so I hooked up with the 80's stuff I had.

Actually, the series folded because a promise toy deal never materialized. So the second and following seasons were never produced. Blame the people upstairs. The series was excellent.
That is not at all a bad idea... Hrm, make it a little more serious, take out the silliest aliens, focus on the character personalities and history. I could really see a live-action movie.
Ah, sweet 80s memories! I used to watch Galaxy Rangers religiously and my favorite bits were the great intro/ending. One day, they played this song at the end instead and I went nuts! Just as great as the usual one. Damn, I'd love to get a CD of this soundtrack!
