Have you noticed that Justin Siegel(her boyfriend) is right down in the middle of the picture! Dude is so ugly, it's like the beauty and the beast, he must be really nice to get someone like Emmy!
Emmy obviously sees past anything physical. That just proves she's not shallow. She once had this close childhood friend who has a facial deformity and keeps telling everyone how wonderful she really is. The world needs more compassion. J.S. and her has a lot in common I think, despite the negativity surrounding his public image. They're both very kind at heart.
Emmy Rossum's my height (5'7) and I'm always afraid I'm too tall and am afraid to wear shoes with more than a 1 inch heel. I'm glad she's making herself even taller :)
Really, really cool. She was really nice and was waving at everybody. She had to sing this song twice though because her microphone wasn't working. She looks so beautiful in person, cause sometimes you meet someone famous but their not that attractive in person. The Goo Goo Dolls, Sean Kingston, and Cheetah Girls also performed there. It was a pretty amazing night.
Thats cool! Gosh ur soo lucky to have had the oppurtunity to see her in person!! I wish i could! So did u get the chance to actually meet her after the performances?
Fizzy pepsi. Opera babe. And a few others are ES. They do show a lot of hate and envy then deny it. If they just said I don't care for her voice for this reason. They take apart everything from voice, look, clothes, make-up to her feelings about her dad and Christmas. it is an unhealthy group who does daily doses on someone for pleasure. Go to someone you enjoy and stay there. Seems simple enough. Why take pleasure in taking someone down where others totally appreciate them?

This performance was dreadful if you've ever heard this song performed properly - it's a gorgeous song, and she completely butchered it. I'm not sure if she just can't sing or if she gets incredibly nervous in front of audiences, but either way, she needs to overcome it if she wants to be successful. btw, I don't even visit ES every day, and my dislike of Emmy comes from her lack of singing ability, not maliciousness.
Beautiful! She is getting more and more sure of herself in performances. I read online and there is more evidence surfacing she will do an original Broadway work and the movies. I think she can do very well.
Em did a beautiful, tender job as always. You have to understand Emmy Sucks Community teens come where they can and slam Emmy. No matter! She is doing beautiful work. They loved her at the Grove, Atlanta, and Teddy Bear Ball. She is maturing so wonderfully. Her future is a bright shining star! Not perfect- not a goddess- but so talented, with great potential still, and a good soul!
but Emmy Rossum IS a perfect G-ddess! a sweet, adorable, gorgeous, super-talented, beautiful, lovable, pure, angelic perfect G-ddess...the kind i would love to kiss forever and ever!
Onto the video. I heard a few strange notes in there... but she actually did a rather good job. I have heard Emmy do worse, and she is getting better. If I could say anything about this video to her personally, I'd let her know that I can hear her every breath, and that it could hurt her voice.
I do not agree that this is horrible... but I don't think that she did her best.
Really, I would like to hear Emmy sing this when she is at her best. Then I shall say whether I truly think she did well.
I'm glad she went up for that note at the end. This has to be my favorite Christmas song of all time, but it never feels quite right if the singer just lets that note go weak. Emmy's rendition here works for me on that part.
Also... I've heard worse. So many singers do this song that I think we've ALL heard MUCH worse.
HEY. For one, she is not ignorant. Just because you don't agree, doesn't mean she's ignorant. You are no better than she is, though that is in no way justification for what you have said.
If you aren't going to say something relevant, say nothing at all, because this is not an insulting party, it is a commenting area on a VIDEO. You are not talking about the video, so please go elsewhere to personally insult people in your irrelevant and immature fashion.
Either way, I've been in an operetta (chorus, but still), a bunch of shows, and shall be having my debut concert in April. I've been training for six years. Ignorant? I don't think so. I'm qualified. I agree about my name, though. I think I made it up when I was about nine. Anyway, I notice you didn't have any solid arguements against my comments (except for the oh-so-mature, 'just shut your ignorant mouth'), so I'll assume that you don't have any.
Emmy did a lovely job with this. She is gaining a mature voice each year. She is learning live performance quickly and elegantly. Kudos,Em! Her beauty and warmth came across to the crowd here and in Atlanta. They loved her. Onward to the films and yes, Broadway is going to unfold!!!
It will be on CBS Channel 2 in L.A. on December 15th at 4:00 P.M. It will be on 180 CBS affiliates around the country, but I think you will have to check your local listings as to date and time.
i agree 100%. in fact, when there were some prudes complaining that she is dressed too immodestly on the cover of her new CD, my instant reaction was that she was wearing too many clothes. a gorgeous woman like that should not feel the need to hide her tremendous angelic beauty and sexiness from us :-)
i sure wish that the people there would have had the decency and respect to stop making so much noise during those few special moments when emmy rossum was trying to sing. she has a beautiful voice, but it is not a strong voice, so complete silence is really necessary
My god she needs to learn to sing. the truth is her actual voice IS lovely, but her breathing is beyond terrible, and she has bad intonation. Pity, because that girl had a lot of potential.
That's really exaggerated. Her breath control has much improved and her intonation is not bad at all. The one problem she has is support. But she's improving a lot. This is the best live performance she has given so far.
Well we're not talking about opera. Yes she has breathing issues. She always had and she needs to continue to work on that. She's making progress though and moving in the right direction. I think her singing career will mostly consist of pop and maybe some light musical theater. As long as she continues to make progress she should be able to do that IMO.
I quite agree, beautyisme82. Of course she shouldn't sing opera with that voice. And she doesn't. She never ever fell into the Popera trap the way Jenkins, Brightman, Westenra and Church did. She's doing her best at what she's good at (Pop) and she's making progress. Nobody is forced to listen to her, there are thousands of other Christmas albums to choose from. So lets all enjoy our fave artists and MERRY XMAS in advance!
hey! while i definitely appreciate your postive comments about the beautifully, gorgeous, perfect doll named Emmy Rossum, why trash the likes of hayley westenra and charlotte church? hayley westenra has not compromised her talents at all; she continues to sing beautiful music. charlotte church is a different, tragic story, but hey, at least her first five CD's were fantastic!
MarieSuzette, this has nothing to do with my profession. This isn't opera. I'm not listening to this with the expectation of hearing operatic precision. This isn't Bel Canto, it's a song that every child sings around Christmas time. It's about Christmas, about happiness and about joy. Loosen up and just enjoy it or listen to a different version you like better.
i love Emmy Rossum; she is a sweet, pefect, adorable, super-talented angel. and yet even i have to admit, that among live performances of O Holy Night, that celine dion's version is much much better. of course, the circumstances are different: celine dion sang in front of a sit-down audience that remained respectfully quiet, plus celine dion does have a stronger voice than does sweet emmy rossum
She's standing there singing a song. What do you expect her to do, dance around while balancing a paper cup on her head? Her expressions can't be seen because of the bad quality of the video. Plus, who cares? I do not attend recitals or listen to music at a mall to witness a dramatic performance. Just to hear a nice voice singing Christmas tunes.
plus the fact that Emmy Rossum DOES sing with a lot of emotion. in fact, that was what impressed me about her in the first place. remember that scene toward the end of Phantom, when she has such a look of empathy in her face, and kisses the phantom? that was an act of emotional maturity of a woman twice her age. when i found out later she was just a teenager, i was shocked and impressed
Before you misinterpret the "dramatic performance" bit....this is a Christmas Carol recital at The Grove, not Emmy interpreting a role. She sings a Christmas carol, any child can do that. Christmas Carols are for everyone. Not just for elitist snobs. Can't people just enjoy Christmas music and not ruin the Holiday spirit with their snarky bitterness? There are Holiday albums out there for everyone! :)
i hope you are not referring to my comments, because i have not said one negative thing against Emmy Rossum, nor would I. she is too perfect, pure, sweet, angelic, beautiful, gorgeous, adorable, and talented for me to do that :-)
No, I wasn't referring to you. But you're praising Emmy a little bit too much. She's not a goddess, you know. She has a sweet voice and she's beautiful but she's not perfect. ;-)
but that's the thing, Emmy Rossum IS a G-ddess! a sweet, perfect, beautiful, pure, gorgeous, lovable, adorable angel! have you heard her sing? have you even heard her sexy voice when she talks? have you seen that smile of hers, those eyes filled with life and that breathtaking perfect body of hers? what else can she be, but a G-ddess? oh, did I mention that I love her?
She's been singing all her life. The fact that she's improved since she was 16 years old is not a point that should be made for argument.
I agree that she does have a nice voice, and I actually don't mind listening to it in her lower/middle register. But her high notes are terrible and so are her intonation and breath control.
Of course it's a point that should be made in her favor. Her legato line is much more even now, her registers are no longer plagued by clicks, her breath control has much improved and her intonation is fine. Her true problem is still support along a still too uneven breath control. But she's getting there.
Cont. This support problem causes her high notes to be weaker than her righ low and middle register (By comparison). Although she already did fine high notes here too, it's a hit or miss scenario. The point is that she's doing fine in her chosen genre. People should stop expecting a classical sound from her. Get over Christine and move on. She sure has.
She'll never be and never has been a classical/opera singer. She's a pop/NA singer. Maybe you should stop listening to her with such determination to hate her. Or stop listening to her altogether. Why DO you still follow her career and sneer at everything she does or says 3 years after POTO? Such bitterness is unworthy of any rational human being.
are you familiar with Emmy Rossum's Don't Break My Heart? if not, please watch it on youTube. she sings that song perfectly and magnificently, and i dont see why she cant simply continue to sing songs like that one. opera is not for her, but i was not impressed with her new song Slow Me Down either. she should stick with what she is good at, because she is REALLY good at it
fizzypepsi, that is not the issue. You and others have a frigging HISTORY for watching each and every Emmy clip there is so you can sneer at her. Also consider where you're coming from. ES sure doesn't stand for balanced views re: Miss Rossum's talent or lack thereof. Don't deny your bias, ok?
I was once a fan of Emmy's. That was before I learned anything about singing. Once I did, I joined e_s because so many people praise her performance in POTO, and I couldn't see why. Most of us there do not hate her. We just don't like the persona she exhibits to the public, or her singing/acting.
I don't think fizzypepsi hates Emmy or that she has issues. She just prefers this music to be sung differently. I think that's ok. As long as she'll allow others to like it and not condemn them for having different preferences.
isn't it amazing how NOTHING can be discussed these days without some controversy and without somebody being offended? even discussing Emmy Rossum is somehow controversial!
I see some problem with her breathing but not with intonation. But she's improving although her high notes are still weak. I wish the best luck for her.
have you considered the possibility that maybe she was very nervous to sing in front of that crowd, a crowd so rude that they could not stop making noise even during those few special moments when she was trying to sing?
Actually , she was very relaxed and confident. I had to cut a part when she came to the edge of the stage, between songs, to have her dress fixed. It didn't phase her. I had to compress the video from 1GB to 98 MB, so quite a bit of quality was lost. This is the best rendition of "Oh Holy Night" I've heard. She was awesome! Some of the people around us were rude and pushy, but after the performance, the civilized people commented on how good she was.
i live very close to the Grove, and wanted so much to meet the woman i adore so much, in person. but then i remembered that i cannot stand in one place for even a few minutes without my back giving me excruciating pain, and so, regretfully, i could not meet her at that time. i think if i ever met her in person, and she let me hug her, i would be convinced that i have died and gone to heaven. she is the sweetest, cutest, most adorable angel in all of show business
Very silvery and lovely, I wish the quality was better. She brings a simplicity to it that is needed to make it work. Very lovely, I esp. dig her rich low notes. Her singing is really improving. Good job, Emmy! :)
She was wonderful at the Grove. The Governor and his wife loved her. The crowd of hundred were wild for her. She signed autographs (and in L.A. ,LOL) again and again with such warmth. Went to Atlanta to see her too. Thousands adored her. She was amazing! On to the movies and all! It is going beautifully! love you Em!

Why is it that anyone who criticizes Emmy Rossum automatically hates her? what the fuck is your issue?
fizzypepsi 4 years ago
fizzypepsi, that is not the issue.

We just don't like the persona she exhibits to the public, or her singing/acting.

fizzyPepsi hates Emmy Rossum. fizzyPepsi has fucking issues

I don't think fizzypepsi hates Emmy or that she has issues. She just prefers this music to be sung differently. I think that's ok. As long as she'll allow others to like it and not condemn them for having different preferences.

here i was defending you against her, so you react by defending her against me!

I wasn't defending her. We shouldn't have to defend ourselves. Lets just enjoy the music we love and not quarrel. :)

isn't it amazing how NOTHING can be discussed these days without some controversy and without somebody being offended? even discussing Emmy Rossum is somehow controversial!

Ok, thank you lol :)

hope there is better quality video and sound soon.
