  • Chris has excellent technique and is more versatile than Marty. But IMO Marty can bend a note and convey much more emotion than Chris. Plus Marty's solos are more memorable and unique which, to me, makes Marty the "better" player.

  • Nice cover man, how long have you been playing?

  • thats no camera effect, chris is so badass he messes up your vision when he plays

  • I don't know, I'd say Friedman's style suited better the lighter music Megadeth was playing in 90s, but now Megadeth plays songs in the 80s style, for which Chris is perfect.

  • wow that took like zero effort for him...

  • wow i can clearly see his aura

  • @HOSNILOVESMETAL no man.....dave's VMNT has pearl dot inlays....these were just plain old pearl inlays..

i know coz i have one... XD

  • People saying that Chris plays guitar with 'no soul' and stuff, "Owh he's just playing, he doesn't have soul when shredding..! "

Man wtf, maybe he doesn't like to show it, or maybe that's just how the way he's 'feeling' it you know..

I've been to a show once where the guitarist is soo into playing his instrument, he tried to hump his guitar.. I don't want to see that.

If he's getting his job done ( nailed the solo's, entertaining) then he is good in my book..

  • @vicsterX just like marty tries to fuck his guitar....its fucken annoying

  • I bet his thoughts are like "ok, yeah, boring, aha, yes, why do I have to do this?"

  • Chris Broderick en mi casa lol

  • He can play this even when he is sleep-walking. Hail Chris..\m/

  • chris brodrick is a pimp

  • he has a dean!!!

  • eugh, why put that awful effect on the vid..

  • Hahaha

  • @shiningspear....lol.relax take a deep breath everythings gonna be ok.

  • Comment removed

  • looks really like a Jeff loomis solo

  • @airmenbassplayer....what the hell would u know bout guitar ur a fuckin bass player u dont know shit bout music.

  • @furbiscuit916

    >Bass players knowing nothing about music

    lol no

  • @furbiscuit916 Go fuck yourself, you walking turd. I can guarantee you a bassist needs to know just as much as a guitarist to function properly.

And honestly, saying that on a fucking Megadeth related video? Have you even HEARD Dave Ellefson play? Or are you just functionally retarded? I'm leaning towards the latter.

  • @furbiscuit916 what the fuck? bass players don't know shit about music right? you're saying metallica isn't what they are today cuz of cliff at all... or dream theater cuzz of myung or megadeth cuz of ellefson... you're retarded

  • @furbiscuit916

Tell that to Flea, Geddy Lee, and Les Claypool. I DARE you.

  • @furbiscuit916 Believe it or not, but I think that Ellefson is the biggest talent in Megadeth, and im saying that as a guitarist.

  • @MasterofKnees na, Gar Samuelson was :p

  • @HeavyMetalVagabond Sure Gar was good and all, but he is immensely overrated, even Menza was better. Just because you're dead doesn't mean you were the best, no disrespect because he was awesome, Rob from Metallica is also better than Cliff was, purely because of the age difference, Rob had 20 more years to practice than Cliff. For me, Ellefson is the top of Megadeth.

  • @MasterofKnees I agree that Rob is better than Cliff. The thing about Menza being better than Samuelson; I'm not really sure from a technical standpoint cos Im a guitar player. But to me, Gar's playing sounds awesome, and i believe that if it wasnt for his playing, early megadeth songs just wouldnt hold up. He kind of adds some structure and Order to some of Daves mental riffs that didnt really have set time signatures etc. His playing kind of turned a bunch of riffs into a logical format

  • @HeavyMetalVagabond You're right about that one, it takes skill to be able to hold up with Dave Mustaine's really clumsiness in the early years of Megadeth.

  • @MasterofKnees I don't know if it was really all that clumsy because some of the riffs were hard to pull off and hold together as bold as they were. Killing is My Business isn't a good song for beginners so give the man some credit. He is really fast at what he does and he does the vocals while playing wild rhythms and off the wall solos. The style is raw and brutal but it is not easy as hell to play unless you are a much better then average guitar player.

  • @fishguru73 Not hating on Mustaine in any way, he is one of my biggest idols, but back then he was not in good shape at all, ofcourse he was still kicking ass, but not like he does today, atleast his guitar performance is better today.

  • Chris is good but Marty was the shit..I member him back with Jason Becker back in the day nobody could or still cant touch them.

  • 0 dislikes. Lets keep it that way.

  • you look like my wifes dad... >_>

  • Dare I say it ? ... chris broderick is the best lead guitarist megadeth ever had! ... friedman fans, bring the hate :P

  • @Airmanbassplayer I don't agree, but the guy is incredibly talented, at least with sheer skill. It does seem like he can play anything effortlessly, but I think Chris Poland and Marty Friedman wrote better stuff. I still like him though

  • @Airmanbassplayer Poland was the best fit for Mustaine, though.

  • @Airmanbassplayer no compare between the two.

alot of difference in the way they play.

and people are allowed to have a opinion.

    for me.

    marty or no marty.

    chris or no chris

    megadeth all the fucking way\m/

  • @Airmanbassplayer Im fine with your comment but...Poland kills Broderick.

  • @zzzhuh i'm also with you!

  • @Airmanbassplayer i bring you my dick :P!!!!!!!!!!! ahahahaa broderick rules, but i preffer marty

  • @Airmanbassplayer I'm actually reevaluating broderick, he is definitely not only a mindless shredder. I prefer Marty's solos though.

  • @Airmanbassplayer Broderick plays cleaner live than friedman does in the studio

  • @Airmanbassplayer I totally agree with this, Chris is the best player megadeth has ever had hands down, but i think Friedman fit the style of megadeth better.

Seriously though, Chris plays the friedman solos as well as friedman but i think Chris's style fits Jag Panzer and Nevermore better.

  • @Airmanbassplayer Christ Broderick***

Is the best guitar player the world ever had**

    fixed.

  • @Airmanbassplayer no doubt chris's technique surpasses marty's, wether you prefer hte sound is subjective

  • @Airmanbassplayer

well, Broderick is the better one technically, but without Friedman, we wouldn't have the awesome megadeth solos we have today

  • @Airmanbassplayer he is good but friedman is still the best =P but i am a friedman fan boy XD

  • @Airmanbassplayer Idk, it's pretty close I'd say. I like them both a lot, I think that friedman just gets a little more credit from me because i'm pretty fuckin 80's and I dig all of his arpeggio work so much.

  • holy shit... that was better than the record

  • WICKED! must be nice sitting at home jamming to megadeth and be able to just pick up a guitar and play it note for note bahahah :P

  • uuumm whats up with his hair? did he shave the very front of it or what?

  • @jellynips hahaha it looks like it... or maybe it's a wig out of place?

  • i think its his girlfriends house lol same windows and stuff

  • check out daves guitar in the back

  • Does he find anything difficult

  • @exacltywild He might find not being godly in every fathomable way difficult?

  • Chris is FUCKING BRUTAL!

  • His hands move so easily on the neck :P

  • There's.... a dean? o.0

  • @Anarchyffan Probably with Dave.

  • @Anarchyffan

    Dave's guitar

    Cheers, Chris

  • I wonder where this was filmed, cuz dave's guitar is right next to him and it looks like hes in a house. Dave's house maybe

  • @Rattlehead1818 its a produced signature you know. i bet Chris has enoug money to buy one just out of interrest or curiosity

  • through a motherfuckin fish eyed lens!!!!!

  • man the way he nails a chord it's as if he takes a whole scale in one grip

  • is taht Dave's guitar next to him lol

  • @Ibik Dean FTW, right?

  • he looks like he is suffering doing it but, NOOOT!!!

  • its called sleepwalker cause chris can play this in his sleep. haha

  • he looks like one of the vampires for buffy in this

  • I really love Chris and Megadeth but I think he will get bored of Megadeth as he is too good and doesnt get as much of a chance to show off his skills as much in Megadeth.

  • @WelshJesus but hes better of in megadeth than in nevermore

  • One of the best guitarists I have ever heard.

  • Yeah but Glen couldn't do Poland or Friedman solos live either. Watch "That One Night". It's almost pathetic to watch him attempt Hangar 18 and Tornado of Souls.

  • he looks like a caveman when he looks down

  • @Dimebag001 haaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. I burst into laughter when I watched the vid after reading your comment.

  • wow chris is so bored with the whole thing. It looks like he's exerting 0 effort and moving in slow mo

  • @mulleygraves I bet the money makes it a whole lot more interesting for him...

  • Was this Pre-Broderick coming into

    ]v[egadet]-[?

  • Who wrote the riff, was it dave?

  • Glen.

  • No Didn't Dave write that? He said he wrote everything on U.A. and Glen just played it.

  • I love Dave and all, but I HIGHLY doubt he wrote Glen's solos. Especially since they all have Glen's distinct style of guitar playing that only showed up on U.A.

  • @PoliticalDestruction If Dave wrote them, Glen wouldn't have been able to play them. Too big of a gap in skill. Listen to Washington is Next. You can clearly tell which ones are Drover and which are Mustaine simply by the speed and complexity

  • but to be honest glen came in after that album was made those solos were by chris poland(i may be wrong on this)

  • chris poland wrote and played on the system has failed. drover wrote and played his own solos for UA

  • chris is A BEAST

  • dave's guitar on the right :)

  • nice eye its his for shure

  • the solo was written by glen drover

  • did he write the solo or dave did?!?

  • drunk quality video

  • The funny thing is i think Broderick played it better than Glen.

  • he did? it sounded like he perfectly emulated Glen's solo lol

  • @Alchohollica he is and alot like lommis vs kirk

  • @Alchohollica

I think this was his audition tape for Dave while he was asking for Megadeth by Shawn

  • @Alchohollica broderick plays most of the solos better than the guitar players who actually made the solo

  • @slipknotrules9999 wow, comenting on a megadeth vid? thats wise ;) ROCK ON AlcoholdetH haha or MegaDrunk :P

  • @Alchohollica That's cuz Glen Drover was probably one of the worst guitarists (close to Chris Poland) that Megadeth's ever had. And Chris, along with Marty Friedman, is easily the best.

  • @MrHoopla wait a min yoru seriously saying Poland sucks? you know absolutely nothing about megadeth...

  • @blackvein511 I know almost everything there is to KNOW about Megadeth, they're my all time favorite band!!! And no, I'm not saying Chris Poland sucks, where did you come up with that garbage??!! He had some wicked solos in Peace Sells, that's for damn sure. I'm saying that compared to Broderick and Friedman, you can't compare. I never liked Poland anyway, so I'm kind of biased, but he never got along with Dave. And Dave is my hero.

  • @MrHoopla check out Return To Metalopolis. It's Poland's solo stuff and is great. You know he's more of a fusion guitarist, right?

  • @MrHoopla Chris Poland isn't one of Megadeths worst guitarists! infact he is the best alongside Marty. Chris Broderick has a phenomenal technique and is an exceptional guitarist but his solo's are not memorable at all, they are boring to say the least. He's good at playing Marty and Polands solo's live and thats about it in my opinion.

  • @Alchohollica That'd explain their current sitiuation, wouldn't it?

  • @Alchohollica i think he can play any of Glen's solos better than him, I didn't like Glen, he didn't really play some solos right, spent too much time string bending like a friggin maniac and it annoyed me haha

  • @Alchohollica he is much better

  • everything about this man is beautiful

  • This is really cool.

I thought he might have been improvising, though, so we could see how he'll be in concert.

  • metallica WAS good a long time ago in the 80's megadeth has ALWAYS BEEN good

  • Megadeth didn't sell out... didn't change style to make money and that's why they're still one of the best.

  • i dident say they sold out metallica did though

  • That's what I meant... I agreed with your statement :)

  • alaboos have you listened to risk???

im as big of a megadeth fan ans any one else here but even dave even said it was a big change

  • Yeah, Risk was a bad album. Thats why they called it "Risk", the band didn't know what to expect when they released it.

  • risk wasn't a 'bad' album per se.... it was just too different for most peoples' tastes.

  • Risk was a bad album. U can say about almost everything bad that it was different than most people's taste. It is, it was, it will be BAD.

  • Yeah, I totally I agree with edgecrushers, I just pretend it isn't megadeth and its pretty good like that

  • I disagree. I'm a hardcore Megadeth fan and i say that album was awesome, sure it waas different but who cares it still had good songs on it just not as many as the other albums. I say World Needs a Hero sucks worse than Risk. But in short I think you aren't open to new ideas enough. Also Megadeth went back to metal instead of that alterantive crap hahaha, yes Risk is crap compared to the opther Megadeth albums but it was still good!

  • I respect that they were trying a new style out. But it only worked in about three songs on the whole album. I say Insomnia, Wanderlust and Breadline are pretty good songs. But the rest were a waste of time.

  • Ummm no I also think I'll be there was good also Seven, but in know way were they metal, but i am proud to say those songs are Megadeth's

  • Dude what the fuck is he balding?

  • its just the video effect from his face smearing into his hair.

  • WHY does everyone compare metallica to megadeth?? Mustaine was in 'tallica for like a year and never even realeased and album with them.

    They both pwn IMO

  • Fuck that´s right all the fuck´n videos of megadeth or metallica all the comments are of what band or what guitarrist bassist or drummer is better .... but those bands are amazing .... all of you only enjoy the music and enjoys the trash metal and dont fuck with comparing and comparing

  • Fucking stop comparing everyone to everyone and saying who you think is better or not, metallica and megadeth are probably both gods compared to most of us.

  • You guys can't even spell Kirk's name right, you have no right to insult him... It's HAMMETT btw, just fyi.

  • kirk hammer lol he's terrible on guitar he wishes he was broderick for 1 hes way way better plus he has a full head of hair too lmfao

  • Good, but this guy is no kirk hammer

  • Kirk Hammet is actualy dreaming about playing like Broderick and all Metallica is angry beacouse their musicans are still very low skilled in spite of very skilled Megadeth team.

  • So? :D Any Metallica "fan" can read this and know my opinion :) We must say it: Metallica sux since Black Album (BA is ok). Megadeth is still makiing smth new and cool Metallica is still trying and all the time failing.

    Cheerz

  • No...

Metallica sux since Ride The Lightning

  • And /\/\egadet]-[ rox since Killing is my buisness :)

  • metallica's been good since their demos ya fanboy.

  • How ironic. A fanboy calling someone else a fanboy.

  • How ironic. I dont give a shit. I dont even remember watching this video.

I dont see how saying metallica has alwayts been good to someone saying metallica sucked since the black album makes me a fanboy.

  • Are you aware of what a fanboy is?

  • u are so gay for youtube.

  • Define "best".

  • its kind of unfair to constantly critisice metallica and compare megadeths albums to their ones, theres been over 20 differint members in megadeth, just kinda of unfair to put them all up against the 6 or 7 metallica members that were on a record. megadeths best 4 wouldnt come close to metallica;s best 4 and im a huge fan of both seeing megadeth at priest feast next feb, saw metallica back in august, my 2 fav bands so im not being biased towards one

  • Ahh Chris Broderick a good addition for Megadeth. A young lad with potentiol.

  • now v know y Mustaine called Chris Broderick entring d band as Rhandy joinin Ozzy

  • nice typing skills

  • sorry bout that.keyboard was fucked big time.

  • he should teach kirk hammett some lessons..

  • haha, you see him live?(broderick).saw megadeth in may,he makes the fast solos look easy.

  • Brodericks fucking INSANE. I'm glad Dave picked him for the new lead in Megadeth :P

    He made an awesome choice.

  • fuck yeah, next albums gonna be better than the last 1,

  • I bet you its gunna be a lot more technical.. but still a shitload of the unique megadeth tone!

  • it's gonna shit all over death magnetic HAHAHA,

  • Death Magnetic was a great album, for the fans.

  • death magnetics not bad,the guitar tone sounds shitty tho, megadeths next album will be a lot better than death magnetic

  • HELLZ YE!

  • man i can't wait for Megadeth's next album. i wanna see some new songs with him.

  • wheres glenn gone

  • decided to focus more on his family life

  • glen was a good addition to megadeth too..i wanted to meet him..but also i missed my chance meeting chris as well im soooo pissed..id be even more pissed if glen was back in the band and i missed him...

  • hey what happend to his hair? just curious.

  • This is way off of the subject but I wonder what Megadeth would've sounded like with Dimebag(since apparently Dave wanted him at one time)

  • If anyone can bring Megadeth back from the Megadead, It's Mr. Chris Broderick...

  • I wouldn't say they're "Megadead" Id say they definitely bounced back from being labeled as sellouts(i.e. Metallica)I give Dave mustaine props for digging himself out of a rut, of course that whole sobbing bitch scene on 'Some kind of Monster' didn't help his credibility.

  • yeah I must agree about bouncing back...a bit... always stick to your guns I say, Metallica left alot of people behind, and then kinda drifted away, leaveing some crappy records in the their " money dust " but I know this,, I was Chris Brodericks first bass player in Grey haven twenty years ago... he Kicked ass back then, but now He really Kicks ass, Megadeth is about to have a mega-rebirth, I hope Dave lets Chris run with the ball..

  • Yeah, amen to that! It seems like they might of struck platinum with Chris. Of course I wonder how many badass songs Dave has left in him. Hes really got to up the ante now...no 'risk' albums with Chris Broderick.

  • yeah, I think your right on that one, I wonder the samething too, with the Megadeth brand, you just cant take on any risk.... but my money is on Chris....

  • i seen this guy with megadeth on saturday!!!..fucking awesome, he played every note perfect and then some!!!...he can be just as good and prolific as friedman in megadeths future if he stays longer than drover.

but yeah i met him and got shit signed, got a few picks and a photo!!..he aktually offered me some of his guitar picks!!!

hes a gigantic fucker though ahahaha...you wuddnt wanna mess with him.

  • yes i know, btw, jeff young also didn t have any deal with jackson back in the day...though it s clear that dave prefers to see his second guitar players with the sam
