  • jc was just a man like the rest of us had 2 biological parents joseph was his father not no mythological sky father bottom line god dont exsist invention of man to cope with the harsh realities of everyday life and to cope with ones own personal mortality its called a denial of fatalism there was no first couple in paradise no fall no tower of babel no universial flood all mythology since no fall no need for redemption

  • Hey theres a Kabal that rules the world and they use a multi dimensional chess, divide and conquer technics.Christianity is derived from a plethora of pagan saviours! I am not a christian or an antheist, I am a dude that sees the clown behind the curtain! I don't believe jesus is God! I actually believe he is actually the son of a fallen angel Osirus/Dionysus. He is refered to as the son of God when he is the solar man or the literal sun,ie sun symbol!

  • The girls are so freakin' gorgeous. But I guess Ted Neely had dibs, since he married one of them :-)

  • haha bigfatbutterfly02 you are true...it seems to be using pampers...jajajaj. Now serious, it was a great super production very criticized in his time but although is very true about the life of our LORD Jesus crist, his fears on the getsemani mount is true, just the bible mention it a little. and other "things are true" but has been banned from church.

  • I love the way how Ted is standing there in his perfectly white cloack and his underware shining thrue. love this film.

  • There's way more dancing than I've come across in the New Testament---I made JC Superstar Re-cut on my channel if you're interested. It's humorous.

  • I WANT THE SLEEVES

  • love the videos they publish.

  • Black Elvis/Judas

  • I love it when the lights at 1:58 move in that motion.

  • Best musical ever. Thank you for uploading and respekt for Andrew Lloyd Webber.

  • @bdevill2003 They showed it to us twice in Catholic school. :)

  • @bdevill2003 Makes sense.

Catholicism is not the true gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    FLEE BABYLON!!!

Read the Bible - and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free...

  • @southsidesman How about taking Jesus' advice and stop judging others. Worry about your own sins. ;)

  • @NeverDoubt1 I do - LORD KNOWS - I do.

But the LORD also knows if I was caught up in a deception from Satan that dispite my protest - I would want someone to get me OUT. Faithfull are the rebukes of a friend, but flattering lips leads to deception and thereby, destruction.

  • @southsidesman I can only repeat what I said before. Good luck to you. ;)

  • @NeverDoubt1 I only want what is good for you. GOD bless you.

  • @southsidesman I appreciate that. And Jesus Christ Superstar is good for me. ;) God bless.

  • they did a rendition of this in the pantomine Aladdin with the words changed to geanie mack superstar how many wishes have you granted so far

  • vaiiiiii vaaaaaiiiii gesu cristo vaiiiiiiii lol nabbi

  • This looks like a ridiculously awesome movie and I can't believe I haven't seen it before.

  • i imagine this song how superman supertstar and lex luthor sing with some scenes from the batlle with doomsday

  • Is this an atheist movie? Cuz Judas is presenting some good atheist arguments, this looks so much smater than the usual brain washing movies about Jesus.

  • @jamsessionize It's good for all audiences, atheist and religious.

  • @NeverDoubt1 Not for those who truly follow JESUS CHRIST. It's not good for that audience.

  • @southsidesman As a Christian, I respectfully disagree. ;)

  • I really hate Andrew Lloyd Webber.

  • the only one ever to rhyme "mistake or" with "breaker."

  • I love the girls. Jesus is a chic magnet. I get Mary totally and Jesus's bitchy boyfriend Judas.

  • CHRIST. IS. NOT. DEAD. IT'S MAN. WHO IS. NOT. YET. ALIVE

  • The best, nuf said.

  • Laibach.

  • They made a remake of this opera. I couldn't stand it.The bastard couldn't even sing. This judas i met in the Sagner Theater when it came to New Orleans. He was older. But, he didn't even need a microphone. This one turned me on.Sebatian Back played Jesus. And also, they really didn't need Judas to betrayed Him. When he tuned over the money changers in the Temple, that was enough commotion to hang Him on the tree.

  • god is fucked up. judas is completely screwed over for something he did, of which he had no control over. jesus knew what he was going to do, and allowed him to fuck himself over for eternity by betraying jesus. christianity, the religion of peace and love.

  • @Taterzz The Bible does not say that Judas went to Hell actually.

  • @NeverDoubt1 so what does it say then?

  • @Taterzz It just says he hung himself. The rest is up for question.

  • Omg, this is one of the most geniuos and creative ways to make fun of religion, gotta love it ^_^

  • Subtitle: Tim Tebow's Theme Song

  • It is a rare man who can look good with tassels.

  • Tim Tebow's theme song.

  • I was so lucky to meet them both when they toured in 1994, they were both awesome and Carl Anderson was gorgeous in person, even gave me a hug. One of the coolest days of my life :)

  • Go Carl Anderson - the best Judas ever

  • 251-losers.

  • Best musical ever made. Period.

  • I am a athiest :P

  • Gotta Luv The Musical :)

  • Rock + Opera = Rocpera or Operocka

  • やっと、この動画がヒットしました。

    劇団四季は出るけど。

  • Saw the movie when I was 11 years old, bought the vinyl. This incredible soundtrack has been a staple in my music collection from cassette tape to mp3. Saw the play twice, awesome.

  • This segment further proves God's love for mankind. God is great.

  • That Carl Anderson had such soul.

  • It was Sebatian Back played Jesus. He has tatooes up and down his arms. I don't know how he pulled it off but he did.

  • I saw this on broadyway at the Sagner Theatre a couple of years ago. It turned me on!!And they used this black Judas. He was great. He was older but he sang beautiful.I can not stand the remake. The new Judas stinks. My husband wanted to know what are these hippies hanging around the stage?Johnathan Back was Jesus. It was so cool.

  • is this the real jesus in person?

  • Ladies and gentlemen ....the SUPERSTAR ...... MISS NORA AUNOR !!!

  • I remember when this movie was first released. It was blasted by christians more than the passion of the christ. Christians called this movie completely blasphemous

  • @Crosisborg To be fair, other Christians praised the film a great deal.

And I'd rather watch this film than Passion of the Christ any day. ;)

  • @Crosisborg

Sorry, but that's just not true. What u saw were the few that think they speak for all.

We accept that this was an interpretation of the possible relationship of Jesus & his close followers, esp Judas and Magdalene. It could have been reality or, just art. Nobody knows for sure. In any event, I loved it then &, 40 years later, I still love it.

The fact that it's still one of the most widely acted and viewed musicals in the world speaks volumes as to it's greatness.

  • @pizamoto How the fuck do you know what I saw? Fuck you.

  • @Crosisborg

Because assholes like you only see what they imagine in their hatred. You classless and clueless hatin' bitch.

  • Get Lost and never show up in the city of promises, so get a life with God

  • класика.

  • kkkk

  • Fabulous bass line. Judas gets down & funky.

  • The "Pop Culture" Lord.

  • happy xmas from me to world

  • A profound film for atheists and believers alike.

  • @0gods You forgot to include breakdancers.

  • @0gods: How is it a "profound film" for atheists? Do you mean it offers proof that an invisible supernatural being exists? Get a grip! (At least we do get to see Jesus' underwear through his nightie at the beginning. That's pretty profound.)

  • @ApplyUrBrain

I was an atheist teenager in a Christian family when I first saw this film (not when it first came out). My parents saw the film as confirming their beliefs in faith and a personal deity. As an atheist, I saw this film as supporting my beliefs about Christianity as a myth. If there was a god, why didn't it come when there was mass communication? This and other questions added to my determination to explore atheism at a time when I did not know any other atheists.

  • @0gods: Oh. Okay, that explains your prior comment. You must have been an exceptionally bright teenager. For most of us who were born into it, it can take many years before the truth (that it's all just an extension of pagan myth) finally gets through to us.

  • @ApplyUrBrain

It was a very painful time in my life. I was the only member of my family that did see the pink elephant in the room. The film was like water that flowed over me intellectually and wore down any last vestiges of doubt I had about an all power god. That lead me to books like "The Mythmaker: Paul and the Invention of Christianity," and, thankfully, I found solid footing in my disbelief.

I am still moving beyond being a disbelieving Christian. Google: LessWrong

    Peace

  • @0gods Personally I think it's amazing that the movie managed to attract such different groups of people.

  • probably the greatest movie of all time and I'm an atheist.

  • Those girls are the bomb. I want to be them.

  • @SillyLitleGirl looking at it from a Theater person point of veiw, it definantly a intresting take on the biblical story, expessially having it from the point of veiw of Judas

  • @SillyLitleGirl, thanks for the info lol, I just wanted to know. and you do have an intresting opinion, though i was tought that God has a plan that we do not know, thus why we ask why then not now? but you do have a intresting opinion, and i respect that.

  • What eloquence there is in silence. Thanks for a great mo'

  • gesu' o non gesu' la sua energia vive in ognuno di noi...che si chiami maometto o budda...

  • Thanks for uploading this. I was moved enough to watch the entire show on Netflix.

  • best judas EVA!!!!

  • So im a christian, as well as a theater student, and I just want to clear up some stuff, Is Jesus in this version just a man and letting his stardom go to his head? or is that just what judas thinks? or is he the son of God like in the bible? anyways, if anyone can clear this up for me, I would much appreciate it :)

  • @JediMasteKnuzzles That's the question, innit?

  • @JediMasteKnuzzles If you ask me, Judas has a point. If Jesus is in fact real and his father omnipotent, why choose here, and now? Do you have any idea how many people claimed to be the Messiah before, during, and after JC? What about the other god figures during that time like Mohammed and Buddha, if they had knowledge of one another (which if Jesus was truly the Lord he would have undoubtedly) why not reach out to them, or would they be trivialized? Or perhaps glorified?

  • @SillyLitleGirl Hehe I forgot to answer your question...it's left open to interpretation. We never know if Jesus is just a delusional man, or if he really has powers that he, for some reason, never exercises, at least not during the course of the plot. And if he is just a man, whether he THINKS he's the son of God, or just basks in the attention of being considered Him. Judas is literally begging Jesus for the answer, but he never tells.

  • @JediMasteKnuzzles I really think it's ultimately ambiguous and up to your own interpretation.

  • ( I really do think this is great - I am joking:) Don't get Jesus mad, or he'll shriek at you in a very loud high voice!

  • 245 people are going to hell.

  • @Nennine You got that right!

  • of course judas is a black guy haha.

  • I used to belive in religion then I took an arrow in the knee

  • i don't believe in jesus, butthe size of my cock is a miracle.

  • @petertownend Jesus is real, who cares about that? You are a shit retard, and a nerd! So, shut up!!

  • @pinkydogbear go boil your head you fekin shit stabbing cunt.

  • @pinkydogbear next you will tell me that you saw jesus fuck your mother up the arse.

  • I remember seeing this in the movie theatre.

However, anyone who takes the story of Christianity and Jesus LITERALLY or the BIBLE literally, for that matter are not seeing the deeper meanings in the ALLEGORY. The deeper meanings are MUCH MORE profound than you can realize!

  • @Caelidh I agree, I went to Catholic school but we were taught that most of the stories in the Bible were just that, stories. They had important messages but they weren't meant to be taken literally.

  • @NeverDoubt1 was you sexually abused by a catholic priest or nun???

  • At the risk of going to going to hell, I always thought that Judas had a point in this song. What kind of half-assed "plan" was this? Was there a plan?

  • @archer1949 ..Plan?..Well,some study from yourself might help..no? Or you'd prefer others to spend their lifetime studying,so that you can benefit from their theories, knowledge or beliefs and conclusions..!

  • @bluebow68 what?

  • AWESOME MOVIE. JESUS IS MY ROLE MODEL.

  • great song

g'n'r ripped this off in paradise city

  • Gotta love that bass

  • @cheeseppuff The Boss thru the whole movie IS brillant. You should have seen people at the drive-in when it first came out.

  • @Dbusdriver71 i wish i could have, i was born a little to late to see it

  • christ being a white man thats a lie

  • Finally! It ook me forever to find a version of this song!!!

  • the key lines "If you'd come today you would have reached a whole nation/Isreal in 4 B.C had no mass communication" NO MEDIA! Judas here is of the modern world so to speak...If Jesus came back today his message would spread by Jesus himself through the media the question is would we care? I would!

  • this is Judas in the afterlife....

  • why is Jesus white and blond and Judas black?? I mean Jesus was born in Israel so wouldnt he be dark, with brown hair? why do they always portray Jesus as white and blond?! UGH they need to do some research!!

  • @2138red I think it has something to do with the fact that both of them are brilliant actors and amazing singers. Their race does not, and should not matter. Their talent is what does.

  • @2138red do u know that there are blonde people in Israel . I do not say all of them but there are a few , we dont care about the outward appearance more than the mission he came for , if he is blond or not it does not effect faith in lord jesus

  • @fearbuster999 Oh really? Just how many of those good 'ol bible-thumping Americans would follow Jesus if the pictures showed him looking like an Ay-rab? It's all about the advertising - if you want the Christians to buy your message, give them a Messiah who looks like them - not a foreigner, and especially not of middle-east origin or (gasp!) a Jew...

  • @bad1dobby first of all u think that all the middle east are arab you r very wrong , the source of arab is from the arab peninsula , second issue is that jesus was from israel which r not arab , what is the matter with u pal , if u hate arab , what it has to do with jesus , do u know that u r funny , to tell u some thing your america is full of foreigners , god bless u

  • @fearbuster999 To add to your point fearbuster, let me also just mention that Jesus was actually a Jew, which according to this man would make people hate this movie if a Jewish person did play him.

  • @hypercamera3 I do not care who love or hate jesus , if anyone heard of jesus and not trust him it would be his problem , jesus do not force any body to follow him , he just invited us to accept him as our savior , and I want u to put in mind that jesus does not get his power and glory from people , so he does not need alot of people with little faith , but he want real faith which alot of u do not have , god bless u bro

  • @fearbuster999 bless you as well friend. a good day to you

  • @hypercamera3 You have completely missed the point of my post. Fearbuster claimed "we don't care about the outward appearance more than the mission he came for". My point was, if that were true then why do the overwhelming majority of Christian images show him with European features, instead of what he actually was - a Palestinian Jew? No matter how much you claim with high moral tone that "appearance doesn't matter to us", the facts show otherwise.

  • @bad1dobby Most of the producers of said images were themselves European. You portray people in terms you are familiar with and comfortable with. The Icon makers Ethopian Church portrays Jesus as an a tall, thin, very dark skinned dude much like themselves.I don't see why that is such a terrible thing.

  • @archer1949 "You portray people in terms you are familiar with and comfortable with." Exactly! As I said in my original comment: "It's all about the advertising - if you want them to buy your message, give them a Messiah who looks like them - not a foreigner." But think about it, if you are happy to accept the image of your Messiah being deliberately misrepresented for your comfort, then you really don't apply very rigorous standards of truth to yourself or your church, do you?

  • @bad1dobby When it comes to religion, most people don't give it much thought. They never had. In the early days, they made Jesus look like a clean cut, toga wearing God-Emperor. The bearded white hippie look just kind of evolved over time because it was popular.

"Truth" and "rationality" have nothing to do with it. It's about comfort and emotion. It's human nature.

As the song goes: "Everyone's a little bit racist."

  • @archer1949 I totally agree. Thought, rationality and truth have no place in religion.

  • @bad1dobby I want to qualify my last comment. If you are looking for "truth" in religion, as in an objective presentation of objective facts, then no. You aren't going to find it. But I think there is a more symbolic, human "truth" in this stuff. I think it's a mistake to dismiss it as just mumbo jumbo. If Jesus didn't exist, they would have had to invent him.

  • @archer1949 You can take my blatherings for whatever you think they are worth. I am a big fan of esoteric mystical stuff. I have been into guys like Jung, Joseph Campbell and Aleister Crowley since I was a kid.

I am not a believer of any of the big brand name dogmatic religions, but I do think there are more things in heaven and on Earth that are dreamt of in your Philosophy, Horatio.

  • @bad1dobby There are religious people who believe in science you know. ;)

  • @2138red They went with the image most people would recognize. That doesn't mean they really thought he looked that way.

  • In all seriousness, how can they mention Muhammed when he didn't exist for another 600 years????

  • @molemanninethousand It's called being surreal. ;)

  • @molemanninethousand They didn't mention him. But if want you can make 'Muhammed Superstar'

  • Religious or not, this movie is brilliant.

  • @MrFraserFilms2009 Amen, MrFraser--I'm agnostic and it is definitely in my top 5 of all time. (I remember being mystified by the tanks, etc. when I was a kid, lol) I was fortunate to see Ted & Carl perform it onstage 2x. All the more incredible in person. RIP, Carl. :(

  • Andrew loyd webber, was saying that this was originnally going to be about Moses...the lyric was going to say...Samuel samuel this is the first book of samuel

  • The best movies were made in the seventies.

  • If you turn up this song really loud and turn the bass all the way up its fucking BOSS!!!!!!! Best road trip song ever.

  • A great song, fantastic movie.Ted Neeley did his part for over 30 or some years in this play? Super music!! Go elsewhere non-believers!!

  • i made a depardment at school about this muscial xD

  • 0:01 Sick. See a dermatologist, Dude. (And the angry retorts ensue...)

But seriously, this is the most passionate cast I've heard or seen...love this show. Love everything about it.

  • What a great song, superbly sung

  • This is probably the saddest version of the life of Jesus I've ever watched. Mainy because it ends in an ambiguous way and due to the doubts about whether JC did actually achieve something (as this song implies).

I'm not much of a believer (a side effect of a Catholic education), but Jesus is such a fascinating, lovable figure that you can't help wishing the best ending possible for his story.

  • @Votapardo Hey my Catholic school showed us this film in 3rd grade and I'm very grateful. ;)

  • I'm a born again Christian, but I still love this song, and find myself singing it a lot! :)

  • @Schoolgirl325 Jesus was Gay that is why he had Long Hair

  • Carl Anderson's voice makes me cry, it's so beautiful.

  • FUCKIN AWESOME BASSLINE

  • So, I love this musical. Stop the hate bros!

  • "Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against

the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly

pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust

into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the

ruin of souls, Amen." Note: we are not alone in battle - take heart!

P.S. : "Love not this world neither the things in it." Lesson: get over it and

stop preaching to me to love evil!!

  • @shephardman "Love thy neighbor as thyself" dumbfuck. you're nothing but a man full of hate. wrath is a deadly sin, and you have much of it. pride is also a deadly sin, and you see yourself above all other sinners. go ahead.. pick and choose the worlds from the bible you want to follow, but it all comes down to your heart and intentions and to wish an eternity of torment on anyone shows your evil intentions.

  • jesus= ted needly. wow. so alike!
