  • why don't you splice these in with some of the dialogue sequences, (well at least the good ones) i dig your video creations

  • I love how you managed to get the timing of the music right with specific parts of the video as how they appeared on the episode! Well done :)

  • that was cool enough too be in a video game

  • u should merge the effects in with the episode, i think it would look alot better than the origional.

  • @VideoSpaceFX "dark and ominous" like space should be!

  • We have engaged the Borg.

    Still gives me goosebumps.

  • Beautiful video, I loved the look of the nebula and the warp effects! Did you scale-up the cube compared to the Enterprise? It looks way more imposing than I thought it did in Best of Both Worlds. Why was the star field so muted, though--it looked a little unfinished at times?

  • @thespecialneedsgroup

Thanks. The size of the Borg cube is not stated in any series or film, but considered to be 3000m across with the Enterprise-D at 642m long. I scaled this correctly in these shots but in BoBW they were limited by the physical models to get the perspectives right, so they couldn't do distant shots moving closer in such as at 3:01 for example, which really show the sheer size of the cube.

  • Fantastic job! At 6:12 I had to Ahhh! *homer scream*

  • good stuff right here.

  • You know I could watch films about zombies, vampires, and the usually scary crap but when i saw the borg for the first time wen i were little it scared me shitless, even now looking at that cube and when I see the borg it sends a shiver down my spine.

  • @NemesisMarine01 I agree. Borg embody what humans fear most: nothingness. The appearance of their ships says nothing yet everything.

  • @NemesisMarine01 Agreed. The Motorola Droid commercials freak me out a little because they remind me of The Borg.

  • 7:29 onwards I already hear the words from the episodes lol

"I am locutus, of borg. Resistance is futile. Your life as it has been is over, from this time forward, you will service us.." 7:27

    "Mr Worf... fire" " 7:49

  • I must concur, excellent job!!!

    Adam

    ;)

  • VideoSpaceFX, where the hell do I start? I know the 'Best of Both Worlds' episodes word for word. I'm ashamed to say how many times I've watched them. But what you've done here is nothing short of phenomenal. You're a bloody genius! I love the detail on the Enterprise and especially the Borg Vessel. Glad you added the borg warp effect from Voyager, loved how you showed the size differential when the Enterprise left the nebula. Everything was fantastic and better than the episode. Amazing job!

  • This is beyond epic, amazing awesome work. Paramount needs to hire you!

  • this is bluddy epic. well done!!

  • Dang, that dramatic music at the end still gives me goose bumps! Very well put together. Saddened, but can understand why the continuation had to get canned.

  • Superb work.

  • This was really nice!

I really, really hope you follow up (eventually!) with the Battle of Wolf 359 and the Ent-D's attack on the cube to rescue Picard. That would be perfect.

  • This is truly a fantastic work you have done. I've never seen something like that made just for fun on youtube or anywhere else. Keep on the excellent work. You've got huge talent for sure.

  • 1. I love that you kept the wrong phasers on the nacelle struts, just like it was in the episode. That's some ironic accuracy there :)

    2. I hope Paramount one day decides to remaster the TNG special effects, just so that they can hire you to join the team!

  • That was very cool! I love all the little updates you did like the borg warp flash and think the design of the cube was great. The only thing I would have done different is used the picard voice over as locutus, sort of like how in the narendra 3 battle video you used the yesterday's enterprise picard speech. love your choice of music too! is that from the soundtrack or something?

  • @sumbuddyx

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to fit the Locutus voice bit into the video. I did record it off the episode to use but I never did. The music is from the TNG soundtrack some Star Trek games and other places.

  • Next one you should do is the refit of the enterprise ncc 1701.

  • The animation is awesome - as usual. But I couldn't help but notice the all the work done on sound fx and music. It all comes together to make this larger than life. If they really are thinking of remastering TNG they should definitely give you a call!

  • Fucking awesome, but some of the Borg sounds are wrong, the tractor beam and the warp pass by.

  • You've already earned your place in Stovokor but keep up the good work :)

One note though... The Borg cube looks well... too repetitive :) I presume its because you modeled all of those Cube parts yourself. It needs to have a more versatile texture. Have you considered using a bumped high res texture over a plain cube to achieve a more realistic look? I believe it would be great however I am by no means 3D expert :)

  • @holodock Thanks.

That would probably look good. It does have an opacity map applied to the outer surface which shows through the inner glow. It renders very quickly like this and I won't be changing it for Part 2 to keep it consistent.

  • you are a fucking genious!

  • One more thing... This is the first time I've seen an Excelsior class jump to warp... that touch makes me happy! Rock ON and well done.

  • Just let me know when you are ready... I can send you some concepts and the story behind it. But this was a treat. Thank you!

  • This is some of your best work to date, and I want to thank you for that! You put a lot of love into this. Well done!

  • @Thunderchyld Thanks. I haven't forgetten about the video you suggested either, I will get there eventually.

  • Bravo! Anxiously awaiting the second part!

  • big fan of your videos dude, good work, though i personally would remove the impulse glare and change the hue of blue nacelles a bit more

  • after watching this quite a few times already,i have to conclude my other fav shot is the Borg cube literally behind The Ent-D rear !!! Great Stuff !!!

  • WORK IN PROGRESS:

    * Borg Incursion (2 Videos)

PART 2: The Battle of Wolf 359

    PLANNED:

    * Star Trek TMP/Phase II Series-style Opening

    * Constellation and The Planet Killer

    * Post-Nemesis Battle

    * TNG Opening Titles Improved Version

  • It's on his profile page.

  • what will follow after the second part?

    your animations are amazing

  • nice work, looking forward to next part

  • Why does the Borg "cube" look more rectangular?

  • @BoredomCorner Er, where?

  • @VideoSpaceFX In just about every shot, it looks longer/wider than it is taller.

  • @BoredomCorner

Well the model is a perfect cube, what you are noticing could be distortion from using an anamorphic 28mm lens.

  • good work!

    ps:

    I like your warp effects.

and the music also fits well.

  • The music that plays at the scene at 2:30 - 3:10 and again at 5:25 - end is perfectly fitting for the scenes played there. Thumbs up for putting chills down my spine!

  • Amazing stuff, but if I had to say anything it'd be that your warps aren't quite right....*sorry*

But great work on the rest though, loving it!

  • @cdname47 Trying to match the actual "rubber band" effect is very difficult and time consuming so what I use is a method that takes 5 minutes. Besides they used about 4 or 5 different effects for warp in the series and films.

  • @VideoSpaceFX To be honest I've never been crazy about the "rubber band" effect anyway.

  • Awesome!

  • Wow great work again. :-)

Looking forward to see the battle against the fleet. :-D

  • Ooooo, I can't frakking wait for part 2!

  • Awesome!! cant wait for part 2!

  • Damn!! Nice cliffhanger mate..and your tractor beams RULE !!!

  • omg omg amazing work love it.

  • i am genuinely speechless at this work, some of the best ive seen in a long time it has really made my day, good luck in future.

  • @Andrew25367 Thanks.

  • very nice! I like it.

    waiting fpr wolf 359...:-)

    however, great work!!!

  • beautifull work :) keep it up !

  • You are amazing. I cant wait to see your version of the battle of wolf 359. DS9 didn't do the battle any service

  • @barry8472 Thanks! I think they did the best they could on their budget, they had to reuse the models made for the movies and CGI wasn't up to scratch at that time, else they could have had many different looking ships.

  • Awesome Work ^_^ Can't wait for part 2

  • When can we expect part2? :D

  • @iiiangelsiii Erm well whenever I say it ends up being way off, so let's say between 1 and 6 months!

  • @VideoSpaceFX I cant wait see it :D

Do you intend to make the battle between the fleet and the cube or you go on what was seen in the series?

  • @iiiangelsiii A bit of both, having the fleet attack in waves so it matches what is seen in Emissary.

  • @VideoSpaceFX Maybe you could instert the borg greeting to the beginning of the battle but probably you already planned everything so i shut up now :D

It will be awesome im sure :D

  • @iiiangelsiii Yes well it will be Locutus communicating with the fleet with a message. I haven't started it yet so we will see how it goes lol.

  • Very good work :D Its nice to see that encounter in cgi.

The impact blasts could have been bigger but i loved it anyway :D

  • I want TNG remastered to be like this!

  • @kirk2293 Pay me and I will lol

  • Amazing work again mate. Love the stellar nursery, Great background. I can't wait for part 2. :)

  • I just had an eyegasm.

  • absolutely stunning especially when you used the music from that episode

  • Nice tractor beam and shields, exactly like the original episode, only in newer color, etc.

    How, AE?

  • @CJCA915 Yes. Tractor beam is fractal noise stretched vertically with some other noise as well and shield is just an 3D ovaliod with some masking. I basically "hand draw" all my effects which takes along time!

  • @VideoSpaceFX Looks nice, in my opinion, hand drawn, at least there is some manual creativity present, I love it, can't wait for part 2.
