  • woah !

Led deserve this kind of monster tribute \õ

  • haha paul as jimmy

  • Paul Gilbert is the shit

  • wow paul has his 80's hair again... hardly recognizable

  • waaaaaaiiit so what is this band? I have to investigate... been dying to hear mike portnoy and paul gilbert together :D

  • Daniel the best! *-*

  • Mike Portnoy cada vez mais parecido com Arlindo Cruz - -'

  • the best tribute band I've ever seen !!

  • what exactly is this bit from? A film ?.Please clarify...

  • A Led Zeppelin Coverband with 2 of my Favourite Musicians!! :D

  • Give me a break man.cant freakin dumbass paul Gilbert get a grip..he looks like a total douchbag in that stupid wig..Mr big sucks the big one forever

  • So many ignorant people saying the singer suck. Imo he has the best voice ever in popular music nowadays. Just listen to some of his work with Pain of Salvation.

  • THat's because Daniel Gildenlöw is baritone... He has an amazing range, but his comfortable range will never fit with Robert Plant's, who was more of a tenor/soprano (almost).

That's why Daniel sounds so strained...

On the other hand Plant wouldn't be able to achieve that warm baritone quality that Daniel has.

  • Excuse me? I think you have your terminology confused considering almost all of Daniel Gildenlow's vocal lines are in the high to very high tenor range. It just doesnt suit the stepping on a cat screeching style of Robert Plant.

  • Comment removed

  • I think Daniel is a bit of all... I mean he most of the time has a Soprano voice, But some songs (Nauticus from the album BE) he can really sing low too.

  • Soprano voice? You know that's higher than even a tenor right?

In most of his songs he utilizes his baritone range and then extends it in the choruses and then does the socalled soprano notes in the interlude.

Daniel is a great singer, but he has his limits... THANK GOD :) An example of this is one of the last parts in "Beyond the Pale" Where you can hear he's pushing his voice...

  • Hmm ah yeh, well indeed Beyond the Pale has this real high note, but i don't think it's his limit if i´m right Used and Reconcilation are really his limits. At least, i think, haven´t heard him go higher. At the Second Death of PoS Live DVD, you can see he had difficulty with the last High note in Used. But still, i should try to find out once with a piano at my side ;) But still i think he could easily keep up with Robert. Ahwell ;)

  • oh you're talking about the stevie wonder'ish falsetto :P I wasn't really talking about that note, but more about the way he sings that part... the part where "And we were always much more human than we wished to be..." is the introduction.

Plus it's not just about range.. Daniel has so much feeling and utilizes so many styles, which I find much more impressive than the standard theatrical high note...

  • Yeh indeed i share your opinion about the emotion he puts in his voice ;) Made me cry several times :)

  • Somebody knows where can i find the file of this show to download? Or is there a DVD available to buy or something like that? somebody knows something about it?

    Thnks ;D

  • what a shit singer...disgusting...the who tribute was the best one.

  • Daniel Gildenlow totally doesn't do a good Plant, but he'll do. I don't think the idea was to be "amazing", just have some fun.

  • There is only one "Led Zepplin" and this video proves it. No spirit, no shivers down my spine, just another copy cat without the heart to convey the words to the song. Instrumentals are good, but sounds like they are all off in different directions, never quite coming together. Bad excuse for copying a one of a kind.

  • i don't think that they want to be better or equal to led zeppelin, no one can, but they played their songs really good, why do they have to be exactly like zepellin?

there's only one reason why they played those songs...it's fun!

  • Good but the singer MUST go curly blonde while he still has the hair to do it.

  • this is pretty good

  • wow i have this DVD, but never have any time to watching it lol^_^

  • Who is that singing? He sounds like a dying cat. Seriously. Listen to it.

  • would love to see this dvd. is more posted on youtube?

  • hahaha Paul Gilbert looks just like jimi page with the same guitar and everything

  • You are not a Jimmy Page..is the true.

  • Daniel rules!! I'm so bored to always see Portnoy at drums,as if there wasn't another good drummer in the whole world. Dammit!!!

  • yeah I agree, but that's his idea anyway, seems like he is the only good drummer in the world that loves to do that kind of project(why not to say "cover project"?)

  • well he's the one whoe creates those tribute bands (Who, Rush, Zepelin, Beatles) how could he not be there.

  • Nice paul gilbert playin Zep he fukin rocks

  • man the singer is crap.... but the band rocks!

  • Where can I purchase a copy of this DVD???

  • scratch that comment, I made it while I was watching the video, and noticed at the end that it can be purchased from mike portnoys website.

I think I will be grabbing a copy of this!

  • sounds like hes singing through his nose!

  • I'm going to see them tonight

  • I saw them in september i was a little upset they didn't do some great songs like Hey Hey What Can I do

  • I was at the Montreal show. Great show. You've to take it for what it is; Great musicians paying tribute to one of the greatest band ever.

No, it's not perfect, although I must say that seing it live, you would not have noticed all the imperfections.

I think the singer is doing a great job, and the band is not trying to play the songs note for note. They only had a few rehearsal for that!

  • Gildenlow! Fuck yeah!

  • the signing sure isn't plant but the rest is pretty cool

  • *singing

  • great cover band..

and is that an ibanez les paul? that paul gilbert is using. look carefully at the head. i didnt know ibanez made those.

  • yep

  • I don't think they make them as a production model, but they'll make just about anything for Paul. I've seen him playing Ibanez copies of just about everything.

  • It's an old 70's Lawsuit era Ibanez Les Paul, not custom made. They're great guitars, the Japanese Law Suits.

  • mike portnoy looks like toto's keyboardist. lol...

  • Paul Gilbert can totally nail Page's guitar style. Tone, phrasing, everything.

  • daniel is the best singer eveeer! and mike the best drummer of course ^^

  • God stuff really for a trib band.

  • At 1:15 - that was awesome! I was curious as to how you were going to pull that off...

  • this is just plain sad... with the made up symbols and all that crap....pathetic... i think my grandma can play this better all by herself.....from the grave

  • Daniel Gildenlöw<3

  • stupid.....i'm sick of these tribute bands

  • wats urs??

  • W Paul Gilbert!

  • MP is NOT a grove player

  • Is there a DVD out on this concert. By the way each one of them are my favorite Musicians, Also I just loved the comments that were made.

  • Awful singer.Looks like a cover version of a cover version. Please if you love Zeppelin give it up,NOW!

  • How can you say he's an awful singer? Have you seen the DVD? Have you bought any Pain Of Salvation CD's?? I am a major Led Zep fan and the DVD is an awesome tribute to an awesome band!!

  • he's a really good singer but no robert plant

and i agree, the band is sick

  • I disagree, and if you've seen the Led Zep DVD, you'd know they played the Wanton Song pretty much this way. Page was sloppy live, and Paul is just doing the same.

  • rofl Except The Wanton Song was only played a few times on their 1975 tour, and it's not on the DVD. Nice one, but you fail.

  • This guy on the drums is terrible. He should take drum lessons, so he could learn how to keep a good beat. The guy can't play drums, he should just give up now...

  • You fuckin' idiot it's dream theaters Mike Portnoy, one of the best drummer inall the world. You should hear some Liquid Tension Experiment, or Dream Theater

  • Take it easy bud, don't blow a gasket, I know who he is, and although I was only kidding, you did get the fuckin' idiot part right about me... HeeHeeeee...

  • HEHEHE :P Sorry for that, so many losers/posers around, and I didn' knew that you just kiddin'

  • ehehehehhe, tell another joke

  • The guy on drums is the best drummer in the world. He has been voted into the Modern Drummer hall of fame (Youngest to do so), voted best instructional video, best progressive rock drummer, and many other accomplishments. Oh yeah, he also does drum clinics where he teaches other people.

  • Ok,but I think it's Gavin Harisson who received the price of the best progressive drummer this year...And,to be honest,I really think Gavin is better than Mike. It's my opinion. Mike plays the drums in the same way for more than 20 years now, nothing really innovating thought. But is still good,I can't say the opposite! ;)

  • The guy on drums is the best drummer in the world. He has been voted into the Modern Drummer hall of fame (Youngest to do so), voted best instructional video, best progressive rock drummer, and many other accomplishments. Oh yeah, he also does drum clinics where he teaches other people.

  • dude get your facts straight - Neil Peart was the youngest to be inducted to MD's hall of fame.

  • portnoy apart from peart was the youngest at 37. 95camarov6 is right.

  • thats what i said

  • Sack the singer!

  • Paul Gilbert, isn't he a drivers ed instructor at Eagle View High in Sorentos, CA?

  • Pretending is fun...lol.

These guys sucked at hair metal and they blow at Zeppelin.

  • No way, man, the singer totally sucks on this song.

And It sounds like Paul Gilbert even muffs a few chords on the ascending progression going into the chorus! Haha, wow, for a guy who can peel off 32nd note sweep arpeggios and all that, you think he could play a few chords. Oh well, he's still a great guitar player.

But I agree, they ought not to lose their day jobs.

  • The singer is great! But I reader his voice in his own songs. It´s really good. I LOVE DANIEL GILDENLÖW!

  • great portnoy in doing bonzo!!!! the singer is not bad but too different from plant

  • Dude...do you even fucking KNOW who Paul Gilbert or Mike Portney are? Two of the best musicians around. Obviously you've never heard Scarified.

  • "clowns?" that's a bit harsh. they are doing a great instrumental cover of the greatest r&r band ever. the singer isn't a plant dupe, to be sure, but that's the weak link. a little advice boys: wanton song is about SEX, drop the tempo slightly - we're talking about grinding, not chasing her around a parking lot. a little more nasty, please.

  • What clowns!Don't quit your day jobs, the world needs janitors too!

  • ....But yeah, actually the singer does kinda suck :/

  • Oh Jesus... This song is just not for him, if you'd listen to his original work (he's lead singer and main composer of Pain of Salvation) you'd know you're completely wrong. He's one of the best singers out there.

  • exactly... Daniel is a very diverse baryton, where as Plant had a very girly tenor voice. It's actually very fuckin' impressive Daniel can do those vocals...

  • I think this guy on vocals is a great singer!

It does sound a little bit nasal but it still sounds great!

I have watched some of the other videos of these guys, and they do a great job covering these great Zep tunes, Paul does a great job in emulating pages solos to!!
