@mrteemumilto Fool. No part of this song is religious. The lyrics are from a poem by Maya Angelou called "Still I'll Rise", which (obviously) was addressing the oppression of blacks in America.
@mrteemumilto Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. It just seemed to me that with no part of this song being religious yet you call it "too religious", which makes me wonder what you have against God that you would hear something that isn't there and freak out. #sincewebeinghonest
@lovece7 Ok. If these lyrics really are a story about black American liberation, it makes sense. But I am convinced that since it is sounds like a church service and has liturgy, it is close to religion. It tried appeal to religious feelings like church does. If it was just about black American liberation, even if they had a tradition of gospel and Christianity, then they would consciously leave out the church and emphasize the community, individuals or indeed the disco lifestyle.
@mrteemumilto You dont make sense. Clearly you dont know what you are saying. Check on the lyrics before you comment. But im too busy enjoying this song, that i cant care less on what you are gonna say next.
This is creativity built on artistry based on poetry! Peyton's version is both soulful and fun at the same time. It's incredible to me that this song is based on a poem by Maya Angelou that Ben Harper set to music over 15 years ago!
this was a poem writen by Maya Angelou, also coverd by a musician called Ben Harper, however im quite sure its not him signing this version, hope that helps you a little.
this is perfect on Boracay. listen to it while the sun is setting and as it paint the whole sky red-orange while the warm salty breeze touch your face.
Get deep on it if you want but this guys voice gets me lifted no matter what he sings!
