@Krisrox101 Once again, thank you for these "Someone already did this" comments. It now can be built in any direction. I dont even know who sethbling is. Sorry that two people made the same thing and only one of us (me) actually put something together and people helped perfect it.
MetaPig and I are still trying to find out why my world save wont work for people :/
Okay, I have a solution, though it lengthens the device by 2 blocks. Basically, next to the cart stack where the first powered rail normally is, make a 2 block long and 1 block deep. Fill it with 2 powered rails so they make a V shape. Then start the regular slope which returns the carts the the top of the stack. Tada!
I think I've come up with a way to make it work in any direction; simply move the piston one block back (away from the track), make it sticky, and have it attached to the half-block. I have not done too much testing, but this seems to make it a lot more reliable.
Sethbling posted this a day before you.

@TheLickable4 Nevermind... I tested it some more and there appears to be a little more involved...

Nice, but it doesn't work in every direction, it depends on the north orientation.

@TheSpaceMushroom Thanks man :) Yeah, I forgot to talk about the N.S. orientation.

@fatedog111 Just a detail worth mentioning, despite that this is the best cart storage system i've yet seen. Congratulations!
