  • What song is that being played on the Bagpipes?

  • How cool is that!!!

  • Any particular reason they had her pulling a train again?

I'm not complaining. She is one beautiful loco.

  • How nice to see an old loco like this again. The piping's great too. All very atmospheric.

  • kl video

  • Surely there are 6 A4s preserved, 2 in working order and Bittern in the last stages of a heavy general overhaul, with Mallard on static display at the NRM and two in North America.

I think the bag pipes man rather spoiled the atmosphere as you can hardly here the engine at all.

  • I don't know the driver said it was one of 6 in working order. I know that Mallard is on display down there but I've never been down to see it, should sort that out.

The bagpipes man in the video is actually me

  • Mallard was brought out of the NRM when the Flying Scotsman failed is ran double tours to scarbough out of York the Flying Scotsmans and its own to make up for the Flying Scotsman's fail and for it being pused into the NRM by 57601

and theres Five A4's left in Britain (look at my favs to see a vid of then all whistling at the same time)

  • Five A4's? As far as I know there are only 4 in the UK: Sir Nigel Gresley, Bittern, Union of South Africa and Mallard in static display. There are also 2 more Dwight D Eisenhower in the US and Dominion of Canada in Canada, both static display.

  • I'm not sure, mabey i counted wrong "A4 line up at York All whistling with 60009 on the mainline" serch for that video

  • I believe I know what video your talking about, I've got it on my youtube playlist. Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa, Bittern and Mallard all lined up at York. Then Gresley and Bittern gave Union of South Africa a whistle send off

  • OK, you know whitch one i'm on about and was i tierd and didnt count write?

  • no problem everyone makes mistakes

  • Are you saying Mallard ran in 2004 & 2005?. Mallard hasnt been steamed since 1988.

  • No, not steamed, it was just pushed out and sat in the bay with 57601 for about 40 mins...i think

  • Ah right. Mind would good if Mallard was allowed back out in steam. But the NRM are very reluctant to make it happen.

  • DAVE WATSON YA BAWSACK! lol
