Happy New Year! Honestly, I don't look forward to technology much these days. I take a more simplistic approach to life now. Just give me a nice day outdoors, a good book, food & friends. No I-device or Twitter updates needed ;)
@JunmaiShu Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! I hear ya. Balancing the simple things in life is essential. One of the things I love to do is go hiking because I can get immersed in nature and peace. :)
I love hiking too, but central PA in January is neither the time nor the place to do that. I can't stand being cooped up indoors so I took up snowboarding as a hobby. My library card + fireplace comes in handy too.
A friend got me into this thing called "Geocaching". So I can combine hiking with a sort of treasure hunting, which is fun. Something that might interest you...
@JunmaiShu I hear ya. Snow isn't one of my favorite things to dwell in; a fireplace, hot cocoa, and a good book fits the bill. Heard about geocaching from someone in the hiking group I was in. Haven't been able to try it yet. Seems like a lot of work. lol
Even with GPS some of them are really tricky to find. Imagine doing it the old fashion way... nothing but some vague, poorly written map and a compass. Now that would be hardcore.
@oliver18754 Identified the issue. Canon VIXIA HR R10. The built-in mic on the camera is omni-directional, so it picks up everything. The external mic helps amplify direct sound. As mentioned, I thought the built-in mic recording would also have been recorded (like as a backup/add to external mic, as other cameras do, like my previous Sony did), but seems that feed goes mute when the external mic is plugged in.
@oliver18754 ID'd the issue. The external mic I just got didn't specify stereo; apparently it's not. One would think the omnidirectional mic pickup on the camera would have also recorded sound, but when I plugged in the external mic in the camera to do a test, it seems to cancel any other sound feed. Thanks again for pointing it out. If I use any other videos from that day, I'll need to double up on the audio track.
@boob1019 Yeah, I typically never get any 1st gen device. Huge Google fan, but still haven't gone Android yet. My organic apple a day has also been a challenge here. Apples in Hawaii taste really good for some reason.
@diablo9333 Heh! That's sweet. Bless your heart. Sorry I couldn't make it to the Gibson booth. They were in hall 1. It takes me least an hour to walk through 1 or 2 halls (I was in 3 and 4). Have you been playing much? Any original songs yet?
@tracitoguchiinc Well I play everyday....I am trying to learn most of the scales and trying to use them to solo but when I am not doing that I am trying to perfect my sound. My guitar is messed now so it is hard to learn....needs a setup.
@tracitoguchiinc I trying to learn mainly in the style of slash since he has been shown much honour in todays world. At the same time I wanna learn to do things like tapping but all that can wait.
@XXTheRealMcCoyXX Merci buckets! Thanks so much. No abandonment. Had to get lots of things done. How've you been? Is your new year getting off to a good start?
I think so, nothing terrible nor great has happened so I can't complain, things have been kind of still really… heavy snow fall has grinded Britain to a complete stand still. Good thing I don't go back to work until the end of the January (one month holiday). so what else can I say...Just loping around the house planning the year ahead! = )
@XXTheRealMcCoyXX Not sure where my reply went, so re-typing. Didn't realize you're in Britain. Do you speak the Queen's English? :) Niiice about the one month break. What kinds of things are you planning for the new year?
yeah, I'm 25 and live in rural Edinburgh... I'm thinking about changing my job and moving house, I'd like to find a place where I can meet nice people but still have my on space... I don't know what that might sound like = S
@XXTheRealMcCoyXX Just Googled Edinburgh. Castles! Perhaps you could plan some traveling for the new year and years to come. Had recently tweeted/posted on Facebook Fan Page how someone will visit 4 continents, 9 countries, 15 cities for $418 (source: Gizmodo).
It's a very old city... in fact it's down right medieval, every street is named after some historic person... It never shines here but we get people from all over who come to visit just for the history, legends, art and buildings... the second largest city in Scotland and the seventh-most populous in the United Kingdom makes It's quit a tourist destination! = )
Long time , no see. Where's the QOTD vids? Miss ya Traci. TABLETS. What tablet caught your eye at CES? My QOTD?? Feel better. Try an acai smoothie. Be Well , Bob
@boob1019 Happy 2011 Bob! Yes, had lots to catch up on before the year end. Yes, got to play with the RIM tablet. Which are you excited about? Do you have an iPad? Heh, since I've been in chilly Vegas, I've had no acai bowls. When I eat them, I end up getting chills (literally), so I've (sadly) stayed away from them here. Thanks for the well wishes. Thank goodness for Chinese herbs (working miracles), and to Yelp for helping find a traditional store in Vegas' Chinatown.
It is so much happiness to hear from you!

What did you mean by "ID'd the issue"? And what camera are you using? Did you try using the built in microphone if it had one?

There is audio on only one side.

@diablo9333 Scales are great. Once that's learned, picking up songs and improv will be easy. I'm working on scales too.

@diablo9333 Awesome. Tapping - very cool. Seems easy to start, but then your fingers have to be quite disciplined. lol
