medieval swords were often not to be sharpened usually, though there are some sharp blades.
It is true edge on edge parries are not good for the sharpened blade, but for the dull and blunt ones no issues for them there, but true one should often parry from the side of the blade for an advantage.
Very nicely done especially the sound. My only criticism is i find the shaky camera at the very biggining and end a bit jarring-at the same time i love it during the fight-all around good stuff.
It was pretty good.A little slow there is alot of room for improvment.Like when the winning knight cuts the loseing knight at the waste it goes to a totaly diffrent music style. You should have worked your way into that music so it flows better. But cool sword fight!
LOL i don't belive that you or "pwn208" have really fight for you life. has some guy try to hit you with sword, knife or something? or are you just kidding
this is just..wrong. Pure holywood in it's terror over reality. It's well shot, the sounds are well placed, but the "Choreography" simply denies everything we know about swordfighting...Evil this..
nicely shot and acted. kudos guys. yes, its typical hollywood fare, but well done. :) Ending was lame though. What was amusing was the way the hero was knocked off his feet by early blows, but could later parry a solid reverso in third. :p
Sure it's not realistic but it wasn't ment to be. It was ment to be exciting and fun to watch, which it was. Because I do have knowlage of swordsmanship I am slightly dissillusioned but I still enjoyed the video. 5/5
Nicely done. Being a medieval fencer myself I was slightly put off by the slow and unrealistic fighting, but otherwise I thought it was one of the best medieval swordplay film I've seen on youtube yet. Bravo!
nice job man....i agree almost looks professional...shaky camera but still clear on what's happening on screen, great editing, good music and well paced...only thought would be that some scenes should be cut shorter and some cut longer...other than that well done...make more!!!
Pretty cool, the filming looks almost professional. When the guy is killed, I noticed you used almost the exact same music for when Hector is killed by Achilles in the new Troy movie.
Did it ever occur to your Hollywood numbed brain that "real" fighting ISN'T choreographed? Ya, it's not well done, these guys aren't trained swordsmen by a long shot. But it is more realistic than the overdone shite that Hollywood likes to shove down our throats.
Nope, actually this is considerable less realistic than the fight scenes from, say, The Duelists. My implication was not that real fighitng is choreographed, but that effective choreography strives to APPEAR "real".

great music, love it, very VERY authentic fight, but the sounds are weird

Authentic fight my ass, no combatants would ever jump at each other like they did in the beginning.

Please do away with nasty edge-on-edge parries in later movies. As a collector of swords and one tutored in their use it makes me wince.

Actually a proper sword of that length and style should weigh no more than four lbs.

Amazingly coriographed, I loved it.

Once again: this is just...what we wanted to make, a visual and spectacular combat... (not realistic? for us it is not so important)
vladimir2323 4 years ago
yes, that might be so. But why? it is possible to make a spectacular fight that doesn't rise eyebrows of people who know something about swordplay.

Why do they have their shields strapped sideways? It may be adequate for film, but it is grossly inaccurate fighting.
GwynforLwyd 5 years ago 2
not necessarily. it allows you to control your opponent's shield, and is seen it in numerous eastern european sources.
