was at this gig..like my own footage the sound here dosen;t do the gig justice..stand back mr kerr and bow to the musicians of your OLD group..no-no to you to still live on their glories!!
@theredraven no,not true,,,,the two ex minds members in this clip actually WROTE this song,as they did very much everything upto the time they left,so in essence it is Mr>Kerr who is livin off them.If JK was easier to get along with then maybe the band would not have fractured
@WillCrazie Or DF (who is the best bass player in the world) could have turned up to practice? That's the reason he was fired. Mick left of his own accord.
they wrote for sure this one, but not everything ,anyway there is a song in their last album (SM I mean ) which really sounds as true Simple Minds, it's a cover , the sound has something, as if Derek Forbes was there : "let the day begin" , it's incredible how it sounds back as in the old good days...
Nothing wrong with that AT ALL. It's actually the closest live version I've heard to the original. This track is all about the bass line and when the bass is given precedence in the mix over the other instruments, Theme For Great Cities comes alive like no other instrumental.
Love this version even if the recordings not the best, Mick always had depth in his sound playing live, the guys a genius. The bass is so in your face too!
Thanks for posting this lovely song, wich by the way happens to be my Simple minds favourite one, the sound is not that proper ,it does not justice ,but thanks .
Yep... Simple Minds lost 3 of the biggest drivers the sound of then will never return but will never be forgetten... Good music is timeless... Derek Forbes, Michael Macneil and Brian Mcgee

Time to write more material... It's 2010 - there is a need for more epic tracks like La Dusseldorf and Simple Minds wrote....

@WillCrazie As much as I like XSM, they're the ones living on the glories of Simple Minds, not the other way round.

Simple Minds ceased to be of interest to me when DF no longer signed off on anything. Why sell a Wal though :)

why try to re-capture what is gone?
I heard simple minds rehearse this track in 1988 while standing out side the SECC waiting to go in.
Sorry guys but the REAL minds got it down to a T in a rehearsal, you cant do it live.SS
