  • On the shores of Inya lake A prisoner of conscience waits Isolated but strong she stands Lovingly she holds the hope of Burma's freedom in her hands Burmas true leader has always taught That freedom from fear shall lead to freedom of thought Brutes and barbed wire shall all be in vain Freedom is a dream that cannot be contained. Aung sun suu kyi you are Burmas bird of freedom who sings from the Padauk tree Sing with all your heart For soon Burma shall be free.. XXX Monica

  • This is a fitting and well-made tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi. This fine woman has shown courage and dignity beyond belief. This beautiful Buddhist country has been brought to its knees by a vile military dictatorship that has allowed millions of its people to starve.

Thanks for reminding us of Burmas plight.

    Kind regards, Peter

  • Excellent video. As we enter the new year of 2009, she is still without freedom. It has been writen, and it is so true, that the military dictators of Burma have turned a country that was once known as the "rice bowl of Asia" into a basket case.

  • I only wish we could make adifference! Thank you, Peter, for your comment and your friendship!;-D

  • Aung San Suu Kyi is truly a remarkable woman. Burma is a beautiful country with a wonderful culture. The people of Burma need the freedom and rights that all Human beings deserve. It is the duty of every nation to work towards the peaceful restoration of true democracy in Burma - we are all Human after all. Out of 167 tested nations worldwide for their Democracy standards (with 1 being the highest), Burma ranks a tragic 163rd. The Burmese deserve so much more, just as all Humans do.

  • This is so thoughtfully and beautifully written!Thank you very much for your very intelligent and sensitive contribution to this video! I firmly believe that persistence is the key & the ability to communicate this message in various ways! You are a good person!

  • An inspiration. 5* Blessings from Earth +++ The Saint +++

  • Thank you very much for caring!

  • She is a very brave woman, I have no doubt that she will over come, evenually a wind of change will sweep in and overthrow the despots. The sooner the better.5

  • I certainly hope so! I cannot believe that all of the concern about her and Burma will make adifference! Thank you again for your wonderful comment!

  • enjoythe voyage , PLease let me know if the video has arrived it is now 19.48 and this is an attempt to send again after your last message posted. Thank you for message hope that this try was successful . I t looks like it is up there . Maybe I lost the changes as I closed the page last time sorry about this.

  • I see two of your videos posted now as a response to my video and I thank you very much! It will serve to make my video stronger! Hugs!

  • enjoythevoyage , your video is haunting; Also I know of a man who wrote to Politicians in the US and here in the UK on behalf of then the Little Ali Abbas , the troops would not go in and rescue him, remember the child blown up left for dead in a hospital in Iraq ? Tommy Edwards wrote 48 letters and made phone calls he & a French News journalist embarrassed then with a Campaign to help Ali.

  • It is a crazy world & we all need to just remember what is important and keep that as a priority!Hugs, Linda!

  • enjoythevoyage , I have to say I agree with you on this . The leagl significnace of the word you wrote here IMPORTANT has so many different meanings inside of a CLOSED COURT .I will check out th ee-mail for your cause and write in protest to support the Campaign for the lady to be freed. best wishes Lindamac xx

  • You are acaring person and we are going to be good friends!

  • Enjoythevoyage , there are Closed Courts ! in the UK . The Court's practise in a Draconian way similar to any other 3 world country. Just a simple statement from a mother who was spoon feed what a great Nation we were as British Citizens and how good we had IT in comparison to other countries.

  • It is so interesting to me that basic rights are denied in Britain and also here in the good old USA! George Bush and his sidekicks (Cheney et al) have also been removing our basic freedoms! We all have a fight on our hands! Thank you for your wonderful comment, caring, and making thiis vide a favorite!Godd luck to you in ur vaiant struggle!

  • enjoythevoyage , Thank you so much for kind comments. I saved your vid , on my last visit however forgot to say so. Thank you for for support . Best wishes Lindamac xx

  • I am a Buddhist. Many people believe that Buddhists take everything as it comes, never complain and stay calm at all times. This is not true. Buddhist in Burma are fighting the government. Fighting peacefully, but with all their strength and mental energy. The Burmese government imprisons them (like Aung San Suu Kyi) or they beat and kill them (like they did to many monks). My teacher says that we can and should do the right action, and then regain our calm. /...con't

  • ...The right action here is to write to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and request the immediate release of Aung San Suu Kyi. Thank you Enjoy the Voyage for posting this and guiding us towards a rightful action. May the people of Burma soon be free!

  • I could not have said this in a better way! It is a moral outrage and people in other countries are ineffectual in trying to help! I wish I knew the answer to help this country and these people to get back to the freedom they deserve and once had! Thank you, Monique, for caring!

  • hi Marion...this is very moving...the world is becoming a very sad place..

  • Hello,

Yes, indeed! The worls IS a sad place! But I refuse to believe that all is hopeless! I still believe that the good will prevail! I have to believe this! Thgank you for stopping by and commenting!

  • The face of Aung San Suu Kyi is one of the beautiful images of our century.

Thanks to enjoythevoyage for showed it so well.

  • I agree with you! She is a peaceful warrior! We all should follow her lead!

  • This is a very beautiful, moving, and powerful video! Thank you so much for taking the time to compose and post it. Five stars!

  • Thank you for taking the time to see it & comment! My heart goes out to her! No one should have to have their human rights violated!

  • I can't remember if I dropped any words for this sweet video but I had to come back anyways.

  • Paranormal999.

Captured me with his light a candle on 21st December for Burma videos.

I will be lighting that candle. I now have your images here also to remind me of the urgency to act.

  • It is such a sad situation! I feel so for these beleagured people!

  • I do too. Makes me well up to know that as a race we are so cruel.

  • One doesn't have to look far to find pain and social injustice. It is good that some can maintain hope that our efforts can impact such a flawed species as humanity.

  • I am a glass is half full person! I have to believe that I can make adifference however small that may be! Thank you for your sage comment on my video!

  • Great Marion -- amazing how many people have responded, I'll check your contribution shortly.

Countries the supports the military junta in Burma are just as cruel and world opinions should be focused on them as much as on the ruthless armed men.

  • That includes the United States, China,India !

  • In the dream nation we are building, there won't be any need for the arms industry nor the military. They are antithesis to an enlightened humanity.

  • thanks a lot, Marion. already, videos like yours are getting the word out, and that can lead to solutions.

  • No, thank you, my friend for getting me involved with WAE!!

  • Hello! A very moving video and a lovely backing music track. For all the things we believe in and believe there is a cause to stand up and speak, I wish you the very best. I am unaware of all the detail involved with the detention of Aung San Suu Kyi. My bad for the fact that after 9-11 I don't watch the news or read the newspaper as I use to. In hearing of yet another sadness that is taking place in the world I feel for her and merit your convictions. Best wishes, Carol Sue
