@MaxButcher That may have been the intention for North America, but as far as I know Castlevania IV is just a remake of the first game. It would have been awesome to have a sequel following Simon's Quest. As far as we know Simon survived and with that the Belmont bloodline.

Little known facts:

1. The translators messed up the order of two of the translations. The WORST ending shows a gray picture with a DEAD Simon but only talks about you "DEFEATING DRACULA FOREVER", and the AVERAGE ending shows a happy day with Simon at the grave, but says that "SIMON DIED FROM THE WOUNDS AFTER DEFEATING DRACULA".

2. The BEST ending (fastest time) is the only REAL ending, part of the real storyline, and shows how Dracula rises from the grave in time for the next game.

If there wasn't Dracula coming out of the stone, that would probably mean at the time : No sequel, because I think that it wasn't precised if Dracula could resurrect every centuries. (maybe I'im wrong)

For me the best ending is this one.

It's kind of strange how in two of the endings he suffers fatal injuries, considering that THAT IS THE EASIEST DRACULA IN THE HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE.

Of course, this one has to be the cannon ending, as Simon must have children to continue the clan and of course that bastard Dracula just keeps coming back. I still think the ones where he dies though, even though that Dracula is REALLY easy, ae the better ones. It makes it one of the first games with a tragic ending.

I just got this ending earlier today, twice, now that I was able to stay alive during battle. The first three times I beat it, I got killed in battle (or mistimed my jumps and fell into pits) too many times and got the worst ending despite making good time.

Well.. If you battle within 0-7 days, you get a good ending. 8-14 days will get a normal ending. 15+ days will get a bad ending.
