Desperate bear, Belgrade Zoo

I know bears have a big garden for themselves in Belgrade zoo. Not a cage. I've been there many times and I actually never saw a bear in such a small cage like this. Maybe this two bears should penetrate or there is some other good reason. Anyway, keeping animals in conditions like this is terrible.

@bratekale ,bears have big garden?! You say that you have been in this zoo many times..it seems that you haven't seen all parts of the zoo, the part with cages is bellow restaurant. All bears are living on the concrete floor, not in the garden, go to zoo again and this time, OPEN your eyes.

I wud prefer if u went to the zoo and actually ask someone who is employed there if these animals spend their lives in such a small cage. And ull see what they will tell you.

Btw, they have their dens where people cant see them and where they have total privacy.

@zoosos the people talk about shutting down the zoo. Thats ridiculous. Just as i said, they have plenty of room, and the place is renovated now. I am talking about facts, and it is a fact that this zoo is good and will be even better after renovations. I just say that it is not right to talk so bad about this zoo at present.

This is absolutely criminal. Im studying for a degree in animal behaviour and welfare and writing a report on why certain animals shouldn't be kept in captivity. I cant wait to get out there and actually do something about hell holes like this one. Not visiting certain zoos and writing to governments does do surprising amounts of good, never forget that.

Our government is strong supporter of the zoo, Belgrade city major loves this zoo. Majority of professors of Veterinary and Biology faculty support this zoo, those who don't support it, they don't say that in public,so, it is like they are also agreed with this conditions...EAZA gave support to zoo although according to EAZA zoo standards this zoo should be closed tomorrow.Animal protection organisations only talk about stray dogs....

This is just a front cage for visitors to see the bears! They have behind the wall a whole backyard just for themselves where no one can disturb them. So do the other animals. I suggest u check ur info before making such accusations. Peace from Serbia.

Rather than spamming hunting videos, people should put their efforts into stopping this kind of treatment towards animals. Even in larger pens, it still can't compare to their natural habitat.

Its clear that bear is suffering mentally & physically. This is animal abuse. Another sad example of humans hurting animals. No bear should have to live confined in such poor conditions.

@islandgirl034 Thankfully they have a backyard. All to themselves. The front is just the area for visitors just when you go there you don't see them in the backyard.

This is in almost all of the zoo.I live in Belgrade i don`t visit the zoo.The zoo is spaceout be movedbut no they make more money if they are in center of the city.
