Hi this is my new account as the last ones email was hacked , so this is the new account, solely for jsguitars, uploads of my latest work will be up soon, of a 1920s acoustic restoration, and a les paul supreme build!
@SuperCrazyChips hi sorry this is joesteele93 new account, frets are hard but once you learn how its simple enough. Carving the back of the neck well is probably harder and getting a neat tenon though
@VEVOsuckmycock dont under estimate the effort it takes, but at the same time anyone could do it if they learn the skills needed, have the equiptment and experience
@AnDr3vV7 thats true yeah, especially when ibanez are making hundereds at a time with special equiptment, cheaper woods, and workers who have been doing the job for years. Though theres no doubt, maming a guitar takes a lot of manhours in you make it yourself, thats probably what you pay for
@seifs4 yeah exactly the automation is crazy that they have, though for me its a lot different to a handmade guitar, i dont think i could ever prefer a mass produced guitar now over a handmade one, i know it sounds cliche but a handmade one has the makers heart in in, and especially when you make one for yourself or see it being made, you know the guitar inside out
@TheShyTeds lol cheers, would be pretty cool to have my own line of guitars some day! plan to make one every summer now and maybe make a bit of money out of it hopefully
@DaZaRhendo i spent 120 quid on all the electrics, hardware and pickups etc, spent 25 quid on the maple and bubinga, 30 quid on viynl for the case, the ash and other wood i got from my dad was free, and ten for the truss rod and frets, 6 pounds for the inlays shell so all together 191 pounds, not bad considering the result :-)
@eveguitars cheers, btw i was wondering where you source your wood from for your guitars, i noticed from your accent you probably dont live far from me and am keen to source some new tiber but not sure exactly of the best places in the u.k
Wow that came out looking really nice. The wood really looks great. Is it a flat fingerboard, or how did you radius it? I have never had the guts to build a neck and the idea of fretting from scratch is even more intimidating. How did you finish it (spray lacquer?) What's with the G-string tuner?
@GitarCarl ye the fretboards radiused, we have a laser cutter at school so i cut some mdf sections out with a 12'' radius on it, glue them together and build a rail jig so it slides up and down radiusing the neck as it goes. I finished it with danish oil, applied by hand, just looks like lacquer because its sanded so smooth as i took it down the grades and spent a long time doing it, the g string was just strung weird as i had to take a photo of it as its for a school project but thenut hadnt
@GitarCarl yeah what kind of pictures you want to see i have a lot of different ones, and ill post a vid of me playing though im not much of a player but it does sound fantastic, brilliant tone and suststain
@joesteele93 Hey Joe, any pictures of the finishing, neck and fretboard work would be interesting. You used some machines I never heard of to build this guitar.
@GitarCarl ok, will do soon, the tools i used are fairly standard, a planer/thicknesser, pillar drill, band saw, bench saw, and a CAD laser cutter was all the machinery i used, as well as hand tools such as router, rasps, spokeshaves, surforms, power sanders, coping saw, rubber mallet, chisels and thats pretty much it
It seemed to me on the last photo that you strung the guitar strings to the right instead of the left! did you do that on purpose cause it's a "Leftey"?
@GuitarMonkey91 no just chucked the strings on real quick as it was just to take pictures of at that time for my school project and i knew i would have to take the strings off straight afterwards to glue the nut in place properly
Abso-lucking-footly GORGEOUS!

verryy nice indeed..especially considering what you spend..just go to show how overpriced the likes of ibanez really are!.

joesteele93 7 months ago
@joesteele93 you have to remember guitar companys such as ibanez aren't handmade i bet they could put out 100guitars hourly!

Very cool :) You are quite talented! And I love that you even made your own case to hold it AND your accessories (pedals, etc.). Nice work :)
Poenut 8 months ago
@Poenut cheers, upholstering the case is actually one of the hardest bits, especially in the inside upholstering the curves of a guitar

Amazing! i would love a guitar like that! make sure you get some more guitars done, and if ya do, get them up on here;) well done!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did this project set you back? You did an awesome job but I can only imagine it would have cost a fair bit.
